Dissappointment — the gap between expectation and reality. The liminal space that hovers and smothers as we pontificate about what is and what is not and what we want and what will never be. It’s an excruciating space filled with sadness and grief and curiosity and wonder. But I thought it would be this way. But I hoped for something different. Herein lies the key to human happiness as far as I can see it. Stillness. Acceptance. Pain AND freedom. To let go of what was and to lean in so deeply to what never will be in a way that fills the void and comforts the inner parts that long for fairness and justness and what ‘should be’.
Herein lies the paradox — life’s greatest treasure and lesson…you cannot live out
your most beautiful bountiful glorious life without disappointment and the art of
letting go. It’s that simple; tragedy and pain coexisting with joy and elations. When we wait for what might be we miss out on what in facts lives here. Today. Raw and ready. Glorious disappointment.
