maybe it's an unpopular opinion, but the arch with the soviets is a load of nonsense. the series would be so much better without them.

in s3, they could've explained the new gate with the fragility of the scar tissue, that the tiniest of disturbances was enough to bring the mind flayer's spawn back to life. no need to create dozens of plot holes there

in s4, i'm not even sure what purpose it serves. hopper could've been trapped in the upside down instead of a prison

the work they've done is outstanding, i loved the actors and the decorations, it looked great, but it was unnecessary. it just distracts us from the main plot, and i'd rather get to know the main characters better
