I have extreme dislike for people projecting their very HUMAN feelings about death onto animals. Especially in regard to euthanasia. Animals do not have moral conundrums about death like we do. Mercy killing in a humane and respectful manner is just that. Mercy. Animals deserve to have their dignity preserved in both life and death.
