I hate when there's a thing that's directly related to one of my disabilities, that I can't just not do, that I'm already self conscious about when I notice it, and people point it out or tell me to stop doing it because it's (minorly) annoying. In this case it's about how I will sometimes be repetitive. I do it both in text and verbally. I honestly can't quite pinpoint the cause (whether it's autism or OCD related), but I know that I can't just not do it even though I want to. I know this because I've tried to just not do it, because when I catch myself doing it, I can feel myself being annoying. I know people don't want to hear the same point reiterated 2-3 times, but also, it would be nice if people realized (minorly) annoying things aren't worth shaming people for, especially when you know it's directly related to a disability. I have family who are fully aware of the reason I do it and will still tell me to "say things once and stop, except in your own head to yourself." Like it's simple.

You're just saying "stop having traits or symptoms of your disability because it's minorly inconvenient." Instead of considering whether it's ok to sometomes be minorly inconvenienced by others without making them feel bad about a thing they don't have full or any control over. I don't necessarily notice that I'm doing it most of the time, only sometimes. And only after it's already happened do I catch it at all. If I'm focused on making sure I've only said something once (which is then more complicated for me because I don't know if it counts if it's a slightly different yet still similar point etc.) I'm distracted and won't take in 50-80% of the conversation.

Throw DID into the equation and I may not even remember exactly what I already said or how I said it, even if it was just a few minutes ago.

I don't really mind someone kindly stopping me by letting me know "you mentioned it" or "I heard you." That's actually helpful because I get confirmation that my point was made and acknowledged. If I get snapped at, I just won't want to interact with you.

Also extra shitty, I've been accused of being controlling and patronizing for repeating things. It's not that at all, it's just that my brain works in circles, and maybe people shouldn't be so quick to assume that neurodivergent forms of communication are somehow a personal insult to them.

If you must compare your trauma to others, remember that the control group is not other traumatized people. It's non-traumatized people.

What I mean by this is yeah you can make almost any trauma look "not that bad" when you hold it up next to something even more disturbing.

The baseline norm amount for trauma and abuse is negligible to none. If the most unscathed and well-adjusted person you know had to experience your trauma, or even witnessed it, would they be fine with that? Or? Would they maybe be horrified?

The norm average person is upset by someone making one unkind remark or raising their voice. So if those things are just a routine experience for you then yeah I really do think it's that bad. You don't have to go through the worst possible scenario to be traumatized or hurt or angry about it.

Your non-binary family and friends who use multiple pronouns do notice when you've settled on using only one of 'em, especially when you've settled on either he or she, btw. They may or may not mind. People have all sorts of relationships to pronouns. But it does say something about how you perceive us, and it's often noticeable that we're still being perceived as a binary man or woman. Remember to mix it up. It will make your local non-binary and multiple pronoun using person happy.

racism runs so deeply in people that if you call it out you are calling out them, and instead of sitting down and examining their own racism they lash out at you for being sooo meansies to them. you don't even have to be talking about anyone's racist behavior in particular because it makes racists so uncomfortable they will come forward themselves and act like you're targeting them specifically. it's okay when they do it because they're doing it in the correct way, in the nice way! they don't mean it like that. in fact they're actually being progressive. you're the cruel one for acting like their racist behavior is racist. you're the problem if you're bothered by their comfort racism. you're the bitchy colored person who makes eeeverything about racism when it so clearly isn't. i'm fucking sick of this.
