Hey all! Wanted to let you know about the other podcast we just launched. It’s a dramatization of the Mueller Report.

In this episode, we adapted Robert Mueller’s letter to AG William Barr, a letter which has recently been made public. In it, he expressed his displeasure at how Barr was handling the as-yet-unreleased Mueller Report. As usual, Mueller was careful and restrained with his language. This is what he really wanted to say.

So the subplot of Holes is that Kate Barlow deals with the politically-sanctioned execution of her black boyfriend—who unlawfully kissed a white woman who was in love with him!!!—by becoming a serial killer who targets racist/sexist white dudes who harassed her, were rejected, then went after her boyfriend as revenge from the depths of the “friend zone”.

And the technical writing of Holes is perfect. Like, it’s one of the most technically-perfect books ever written. Basically any plotting or pacing or characterization issue you’re having, read Holes and really study how Sachar did it. THE LIZARDS! THE LIZARDS.

Hi, we’re HK and Ani! We’re two trans twentysomethings living in Brooklyn (you may recognize Ani from her 15 minutes of Whovian Youtube fame), and this is our sci-fi radio drama series A World Where. We spent three years making Vol. 1, and we just released a Binaural Remix of all six episodes (It’s basically 3D sound and the best way to listen is with headphones in a quiet room).

The whole thing comes with a MAJOR content warning, including graphic violence, strong language, sexual situations, and potentially upsetting subject matter such as suicide, mental illness, and humanity’s slow descent into apocalyptic insanity. It’s our bleak, twisted, funny, queer, ennui-filled, fucked up baby, and we’re so proud of it. The Future is Fucked

Hello Tumblr! We’re HK and Ani, two trans twentysomethings making radio drama out of our spare bedroom. Our show is called A World Where, and since Tumblr seems to be the unofficial home of radio drama, we figured we’d introduce ourselves and try and connect with people in the community.

A little about the show: A World Where is an ongoing radio drama series. Each episode takes place in a different near-future and imagines the consequences of climate change, capitalist excess, and neoliberal apathy. These aren’t epic save-humanity sci-fi adventures, they’re stories of ordinary people resigned to live their lives in broken worlds – any of which could be the one we’re living in sometime soon. It’s recently been given a binaural remix, which basically means 3D sound, and which is ideally listened to in a quiet room, empty street, or silent apocalyptic plane. It’s a weird, bleak, shocking, diverse, satirical, political, and QUEER AS FUCK little collection of nightmares. 

It’s very violent, dark, and deals with a lot of heavy subjects, so the whole thing comes with a MASSIVE trigger warning. However, audio fiction critic Wil Williams recently said “It never feels like shock or horror for the purpose of shock or horror. Every choice is made not just to assert the core idea of the episode, but also convey something honest–and usually deeply empathetic–about people. Taking cues from works like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and maybe even The Lobster, it’s a work that feels humorous but also unraveling–not unraveling to the narrative, but unraveling to the listener.”

We’re starting this blog not only to start building our connections to the community, but also to post lots of behind-the-scenes material, essays about the technique of radio drama, and any nice fan messages we happen to get! We’re still a pretty small, rinky-dink operation, but it’s been incredibly rewarding to connect with the few devoted fans we do have, as well as other creators with whom we can share our work.
