Pick a struggle: having a plot but not having a title or having a title but not having a plot š«©
āI want to write a fic about this but I donāt think anybody will be interested in itā ummm hello excuse me maāam what do you mean you donāt think anybody will be interested in it??? YOU. YOU ARE INTERESTED IN IT???? write it because YOU are interested in it and YOU want to write about it. fanfic writing should always be first and foremost about YOUR enjoyment, not other peopleās.
yall ever start writing a fic in a certain mood and the next day youre not in that certain mood anymore so now you gotta wait until youre in that mood again so you can continue writing the fic ??
yea
One of the best things about being a writer is thinking of something small you can add to your work thatās just. Devastating. Like youāre sitting there going. Oh. That would be diabolical. People would get really riled up about that. Exquisite. Letās do it.
me (crazy eyes, covered in blood): I NEED to finish writing my fanfic. so I can start writing a different fanfic.
I have written exactly two kinds of fan fiction:
Type A
I LOVE THIS STORY SO MUCH, ITāS BEAUTIFUL AND CLEVER AND AMAZING AND I AM GOING TO WRITE ABOUT THESE CHARACTERS BECAUSE THERE IS JUST SO MUCH TO EXPLORE AND APPRECIATE
Type B
I have to do everything myself.
unfortunately my story needs a middle. i personally think this is excessive
writers really will spend twenty minutes pacing around the kitchen thinking āthis scene is geniusā and then sit down to type and suddenly remember approximately three words and one emotional vibe
First drafts aren't the final product and they're allowed to be messy. Except mine. Mine has to be perfect immediately
Do I actually want to write this fanfic or do I just want to wallow in the delicious daydream like a pig in the mud?
Unfortunately I wish for others to wallow in my magnificent mud pit
thank you for the magnificent mud pits, fanfic writers
iām not procrastinating. iām allowing the story to ferment. like kimchi. or a crime scene

"work in progress" is actually so misleading like it assumes that im actually making progress on my work
sometimes artists worry if their art is actually capable of making the world a better place, or if its all just wasted effort. what you need to remember is: all art is evil, and the sole aspiration of the artist should be to maim as many onlookers as possible.
And all of this at once.
