obsessed w this person in the replies
i saw this post and i knew i was never going to make it
It's fine to disagree with the IAU about the definition of "planet"; however, if your definition includes Pluto but not Ceres, Orcus, Haumea, Quaoar, Makemake, Gonggong, Eris or Sedna, you don't actually care what a planet is – you just want the exact list of nine planets you learned in primary school back. Your cute little Pluto-including orbital distance mnemonic ought to be at least seventeen words long, and good fucking luck with the Q!

I appreciate that you included Salacia but not Charon – really threading the needle pedantry-wise there.
yes i am finally reading my death god roommate 🎉
no one is stupid in quite the same way as a tumblr user
I feel like a lot of people get "All Art is Political" confused with "All Art is made with Political Intentions" which is not the same.
Was driving with my grandmother and in broken English she says “no eyes… no nose… no face. Don’t trust.” To which I looked around wildly in search of this omen of ill portend.
Cybertruck. It was a cybertruck.
there are people on here who get thousands of notes on their fanart and headcanons of a game they publicly admit to not playing or understanding and really i just don't get that
so this was a broad statement with a few different people in mind but apparently something happened. ive been hating this dude for the love of the game i didn’t even know he was finally getting called out… anyway nights-at-crystarium is also the person who dismissed ala mhigans as “politically angry men in a cave” when he didn’t want to do their part of arr, so he’s always been racist and an idiot 👍
like on top of being a fucking moron who calls the scions a "cult" because they're friends who knew each other before the wol joins, he's just straight up racist
Big up to OP for this because while everyone and their mothers have been coming out of the woodwork about the shitty things the Fragments author has said and done, not a single one actually gave receipts on what exactly he said about the Ala Mhigans that was so shitty—and that's if they even mention it!
And to be clear, it IS shitty and there's a lot that can be said about the intersectionality between racism and dismissing an oppressed people driven out of their homeland and fighting for their right to live with dignity as "politically angry", and how in the Ala Mhigan Resistance's case it may very well be rooted in the player's own discrimination towards brown people...
...but for the most part I think this just shows how shallow and self-absorbed the Fragments author is—not just about engaging with the game's lore but just in general. The Ala Mhigans in Little Ala Mhigo mirror many different real-world refugee groups fleeing their war-torn homelands who struggle to adapt and assimilate in the countries that have given them refuge—countries whose cultures are so different and dissimilar to their own that they'd have to give up their cultural identity to be properly "accepted". If he's dismissing the Ala Mhigans in Little Ala Mhigo as "politically angry men", how does he view refugee groups in his country? How does he view a minority group (that he doesn't belong to) protesting for their civil rights? The answer is simple: he doesn't. He's never thought about it. He equates everything he doesn't care for with "politics (derogatory)", even when it involves fighting for the civil rights of an oppressed group.
If it's not about him, he doesn't care. Note how he says the Sylphs and the Little Ala Mhigo sections are important because "we get to prevent the primal summonings". It's important to him because it revolves around (his) WoL doing stuff and being cool, but he doesn't give a rat's arse about things that don't actually impact him or his WoL directly, such as the people who are affected by Laurentius' treachery or Wilred's well-meaning but foolhardy actions. He doesn't care about them, and to "personally dislike the politically angry men" shows how much he dislikes having to engage with things that do not relate to him and that he sees as disruptive to his nice little bubble of a life where the biggest struggle he has is not having enough eyes on his self-indulgent webcomic and being one of the precious few gay creators in the horrifically straight FFXIV fandom /s
And it's genuinely mirrored in the very thing that propelled him into this mess! He doesn't give a shit about biphobia, he doesn't give a shit about bisexuals constantly getting flack for not being queer enough for liking the opposite gender as well their own—all that matters to him is his struggles. He's the one being oppressed as a gay person. He's the one who has to see all these icky "straight" M/F ships. He's the one who has to deal with the indignity of seeing his favourite blorbo that he identifies so much with headcanoned by other people as anything other than gay. He wants to claim Emet-Selch as gay because Emet-Selch is so camp and flamboyant and theatrical that it's an affront to gay people to deny his stereotypical gayness, even though stereotypical determinism in 2026 is the opposite of queer progress. It's all about him and what he thinks being gay is, and fuck every other queer identity. Up yours, he's fighting for his.
What a horrendous little person. Hopefully this is the last time I reblog anything about him because I think we can establish by now that he's really just a shallow, self-absorbed and selfish little prick who refuses to take any warranted criticism into account, and the sooner he disappears into obscurity, the better.

yeah, but he was sowwy!
Man that probably sucks, trapped having the emotional maturity to recognize when they’ve permanently hurt someone but not the ability to understand in advance how to—oh wait humans do that too, it’s basically the classic human condition
proximity
original image: four panel comic titled "Proximity" by @JNYMFG (op). Each is numbered in the corner, counting from 3 down to 0.
Panel #3 is yellow-toned, with an over-the-shoulder shot of a cheerful man reading the newspaper headline MORE WAR and thinking: "How awful... but I have my own problems!" Panel #2 is orange-toned, showing a distraught woman reading the same headline, and thinking: "But my husband has family there!" Panel #1 is red-toned, showing a pensive man reading the same headline, and thinking: "If I'd stayed, maybe I could have saved them." Panel #0 is entirely blacked out.
reblog image: photo of poem titled The Diameter of the Bomb. Poem reads:
The diameter of the bomb was thirty centimeters and the diameter of its effective range - about seven meters. And in it four dead and eleven wounded. And around them in a greater circle of pain and time are scattered two hospitals and one cemetery. But the young woman who was buried where she came from over a hundred kilometers away enlarges the circle greatly. And the lone man who weeps over her death in a far corner of a distant country includes the whole world in the circle. And I won't speak at all about the crying of orphans that reaches to the seat of God and from there onward, making the circle without end and without God.

not doomed by the narrative but saved by the narrative. yeah i know you'd rather die than keep suffering but the story doesn't actually care what you want. you have to keep going, even when it hurts. even being erased from existence won't stop you from being salvaged from the wreckage of un-being. get up. keep pushing. keep bleeding. keep living.
Do not ever be rude or condescending to someone who asks "obvious" questions, no matter how obvious or silly you think the question is.
For one, in some cultures asking an obvious question is just a polite way of acknowledging the situation. So for example, if you just put your jacket on and start clocking out, a co-worker asking "oh, you done for the day and heading out now?" doesn't deserve you sneering at them like an idiot, scoffing, and saying "uh duh, just like I do every day at this time" when it's likely they knew the answer, but were just asking as a polite way of acknowledging the situation.
But even if they were genuinely unsure that you're leaving even though it seems obvious to you from context clues, so what? What does being rude and condescending to them achieve? Maybe they couldn't sleep last night so they're really out of it today, maybe they're dissociating, maybe they're about to pass out from low blood sugar, maybe some other employees sometimes put on their jacket and only clock out briefly but come back.
There's all sorts of reasons they could be confused about whether or not you're leaving, but intentionally making them feel bad achieves nothing except, well, making them feel bad. Either way, they're not hurting you or anyone by asking a "stupid" question, so there's no point in being rude about it. If you still want to make them feel bad about themselves for looking "stupid" when they weren't hurting anyone, that is the mindset of bullies and abusers.
Thank you everyone who is pointing out in the notes that this is usually an attempt to connect with someone and/or strike up a conversation. Because honestly in my experience 9 times out of 10 when someone asks an "obvious" question that's what they're trying to do. If someone walks into the kitchen and asks "oh are you cooking?" while you're standing over the stove holding a spatula, they probably already know the answer, but they're just trying to start a conversation with you and connect to you.
All the more reason it's sad and hurtful when these attempts are met with sneering and being treated like an idiot.
