My brother telling his girlfriend that one of his friends is trans and her immediately asking 'AMAB or AFAB?' is still the most haunting thing ever to me we should've never let cis people learn these terms
for all the cis ppl in the notes who don’t understand and can’t bring themselves to actually ask — amab does not mean transfem and afab does not mean transmasc. there’s a shit ton of other identities like nonbinary, genderfluid (hi), agender, and more, all under the trans label. if you’re gonna be nosy, ask pronouns, not assigned gender at birth, you weirdos. i get that’s how society has trained you to see yourself, but that’s not how we see ourselves.

concept: a monster factory style video but it’s filmed from the perspective of the greek gods inventing literal monsters
hermes, looking at the hecatoncheires: okay, so, pros and cons
apollo: pros and cons. i hate the number of hands that there are
hermes: bad to look at
other fandoms can only dream of what the night at the museum fandom has. which is a pathetic man being picked up by the scruff of the neck like a cat onscreen.
like this.
I was gonna make a “"genres of monsters” posts but upon thinking about it I realized that “"genres of monster fans” has actually been more interesting to think about
Anyways genres of monster fans and enthusiasts are off the top of my head
-”My monster dad can beat up your monster dad”
- The folklore historian
- Wants to be a zoologist but for fake animals
- Caring about monsters being treated well more then the actual humans
- Believes in all cryptids and just wants monsters to be real more then anything else
- In it for the sex appeal
- Monsters as abstract metaphors for the human suffering in film and literature
- Just really likes Halloween
A category I foolishly overlooked
it me
You missed my personal kryptonite: Deep personal, spiritual and emotional bond to Monster, perhaps so special can ONLY be to Monster.
That’s the settling down and marriage part of the “"Sex Appeal” category
upset that people keep saying this, so: “what fanfic is this from lol” is not an appropriate comment to make about real life mlm and their relationships. a man falling in love with another man is a wonderful thing that happens every day in reality. mlm love in the real world belongs to the men experiencing it, not anyone else spectating
acceptable reasons to exclude someone from the queer community:
they, as an individual or movement, have a known pattern of being dangerous/hostile to other queer people (whether that be bigotry, being a predator, threats and/or violence, etc.)
they, as an individual, just don’t want to be included personally
unacceptable reasons to exclude someone from the queer community:
fitting a stereotype
not fitting a stereotype
“weird” labels
multiple labels
combined labels
hyper-specific labels
vague labels
“conflicting” labels
new labels
old labels
labels you personally don’t understand
labels you personally don’t think are “allowed” to be queer
labels that are exclusive to queer people from marginalized groups you’re not a part of (racial, cultural, disability, neurotype…)
broad labels like two-spirit and intersex where some-but-not-all of the people included in the label identify with the queer community
anything to do with their pronouns
anything to do with their presentation
(do not tag as slur; you will be blocked)
my toddler is 3 years old and wont eat anything other than fine porterhouse steaks and sweet port wine
you need to discipline your child. port is a horrible choice for the main course and wildly clashes with a rich béarnaise.
dude hes three….
And uncultured. Get a new child
In toy story Andy should have grown up to be a total nerd geek who collected anime and video game character figurines who, like Buzz in the first movie, thought they were the characters they were made in the likeliness of just so we could have had an entire movie dedicated to Woody trying to get Sephiroth to stop attempting to kill mr potatohead
I would much rather welcome people into the queer community despite not understanding their identities or how their identity makes them queer than let them feel ostracized and unsafe in other spaces. If someone feels queer, then that's queer.

Here’s a picture of a blue poison dart frog.
WHY!?
Okay, lots of folks asking “INSTAGRAM DOES THAT!?”
And yes, it does:
Nice.

Things with no gay/queer rep can be progressive and groundbreaking actually and need to be part of the discussion of representation in media
Like,,,,
A show about an interracial disabled couple (that’s written well) is just as progressive as a show about two gay characters
A show with multiple well written POC characters, especially in leading roles, is progressive and should be part of the discussion
Representation has never only meant queer rep.
And I hate that so many of POC and disabled people see that shows and books that represent them, not get included or acknowledge in the discussion about representation.
Just because something doesn’t represent you, doesn’t mean it’s not representing someone else.
Yes queer rep is good, of course it is (I’m neither cis nor het) but I can not begin to understand how so many of you will just,,,ignore shows that represent POC and/or disabled people in a well written and positive way because it’s not what you are. Or tell us that when we mention them as good examples of rep that it’s not really representation.
The world exist outside of you and your experience.
“The world exists outside of you and your experience” is like literally half the point of representation! It's not just about seeing yourself. It’s about seeing people who are different than you, represented as whole characters with their own lives and stories. It’s about building compassion for people with experiences you might not be able to directly relate to.
To important not to share
A while back Luke wrote a presentation for our GSA about representation in media, and he included not only LGBT+ representation, but also disabled, mental illness, and POC representation. Literally you could see the shock on the faces of the people in the club.
They weren’t expecting him to come in and talk about how ATLA was progressive because it featured disabled characters outside of the inspiration porn and pity party stereotypes that were WAY more rampant at the time of its release. They weren’t expecting him to talk about how She-Ra was amazing for not ONLY including queer and non-binary people, but also for including so many POC as just normal members of the cast and not making a big deal out of it- something that should be done in children’s media. They weren’t expecting him to talk about DID, substance abuse, Cerebral Palsy, anxiety disorders, OCD, Autism, ADHD, depression, any other mental or physical disorder, or POC and the lack of good representation in media.
We could tell, because as soon as it was over, barely any of them said a word. You could tell this was something they hadn’t had to discuss before, and it made them uncomfortable. They were uncomfortable because Luke had done what he had signed up to do and given a presentation on representation in media, and they were ill-informed on what “representation” actually meant.
People are uncomfortable talking about anything other than what they’re used to, but discomfort is the first step to making progress.

Edit: also I love Percy Jackson for this, not only are there multiple POC throughout the series, but literally almost every main character is neurodivergent- and yet all everyone seems to talk about is “ooOooOoOh Nico and Will gay”
