PSA.
Harassment is harassment, no matter what age you are. If you groped his or her butt, or slapped it, as a joke or a dare, or without consent, thatâs harassment. If you grope her breasts without consent, thatâs harassment. If you touch anybody in places they wouldnât like to be touched, or places which would be inappropriate without permission or consent, that is harassment. It doesnât matter what age you are. You could be an adult, or a teen, or even an elder. Harassment is harassment, people. Get that into your heads. It isnât just something to make jokes about. Itâs a crime.
Friendly reminder that the way my body is clothed does not give definition to myself & or my consent.
petition for fairy tales where the refusal to kiss the sleeping princess because it lacks consent actually awakens her and saves the day
Hey! We are inspired by your blog and have followed! We would really appreciate it if you could take a few seconds to either read about or follow our feminist blog (The Feminist Definition). We are all about creating awareness, positive change and altering perceptions on important issues associated with equality. We are run by people who have experienced sexual assault, discrimination, prejudice and feminist activism. We are just starting up & would really appreciate your feedback and support!
A job well done, definitely a great blog. Followed back most definitely!
Is Complimenting a Woman Sexual Harassment?-Feminist Fridays
"Cat Call" by Ursa Eyer (Source)
"Hereâs a short comic about my personal experiences with Cat Calling. Keep in mind, this is a very VERY vanilla version. I kept out all the super horrible and gross stuff because, Iâm hoping this gets my point across. This comic is only meant to illustrate my history with this upsetting part of our culture."
A comic on cat calling through the years. So to speak.
Honestly the âhey sexyâ âlook at those titsâ started at 12 for me, so yeah Iâd say the ages are a bit out, otherwise v good.
Street harassment is never okay. Reblog if you agree.
Consent. Affirmative Consent. Consent Education. And why itâs important.
Myths about Male Rape
âMen canât be raped by women, they always want sex.â This is absolutely bullshit for a very obvious reason. Men are not sex robots, they are individuals who can consent to or deny a sexual encounter for any number of valid reasons. Do not deny them their autonomy with this bullshit.
âWell you canât really be raped by a woman because a man needs to have an erection.â
Arousal is not consent. Erection is not consent. Hell, erection isnât even always arousal. So far as it has been explained to me some guys get them for no damn reason at all. On a bus, in math class, waking up in the morning. An erection is not an indication of consent.Â
âWell if he had an orgasm then he was clearly into it.â
As stated above, arousal does not equal consent. But following on from this point the lack of knowledge about ejaculation is astounding. Male ejaculations are a spinal reflex. Men can absolutely be forced to have them. Sexual intercourse is not required for a man to ejaculate. A man having a seizure can get an erection and/or ejaculate. Is he asking for it? No.
âMen donât feel violated if they are raped.â Utter rot. While gendered social conditioning may have an impact on the way we deal with these issues, we are all still people and regardless of gender can have varying reactions to traumatic events.Â
âMen being raped by women is funny, itâs a source of comedy.â
No. These films and TV shows and jokes about male rape, from movies depicting prison rape or a woman raping a man as a hilarious event or a joke to tell, itâs not funny. The invasion and victimisation of a person is not funny. The removal of their consent is not funny. If you think it is funny then you may need to check yourself, because there is nothing funny about being raped.Â
Do not add to the victimisation of rape victims, do not view media that seeks to tell you that their pain is a funny anecdote or a throwaway comedic one-liner. Do destigmatise male rape, believe the victims and support them whenever you can.Â
Letâs break it down, shall we?
If they are unconscious, donât make them tea. Unconscious people canât answer the question, âDo you want tea?â because they are unconscious.
If you say, âHey, would you like a cup of tea?â and they um and ahh and say, âIâm not really sureâŠâ then you can make them a cup of tea or not, but be aware that they might not drink it, and if they donât drink it then â this is the important bit â donât make them drink it. You canât blame them for you going to the effort of making the tea on the off chance they wanted it; you just have to deal with them not drinking it. Just because you made it doesnât mean you are entitled to watch them drink it.
If they say, âNo, thank you,â then donât make them tea. At all. Donât make them tea, donât make them drink tea, donât get annoyed at them for not wanting tea. They just donât want tea, okay?
They might say, âYes, please, thatâs kind of you,â and then when the tea arrives they actually donât want the tea at all. Sure, thatâs kind of annoying as youâve gone to the effort of making the tea, but they remain under no obligation to drink the tea. They did want tea, now they donât. Sometimes people change their mind in the time it takes to boil that kettle, brew the tea and add the milk. And itâs okay for people to change their mind, and you are still not entitled to watch them drink it even though you went to the trouble of making it.
If they are unconscious, donât make them tea. Unconscious people donât want tea and canât answer the question, âDo you want tea?â because they are unconscious.
Okay, maybe they were conscious when you asked them if they wanted tea, and they said yes, but in the time it took you to boil that kettle, brew the tea and add the milk they are now unconscious. You should just put the tea down, make sure the unconscious person is safe, and â this is the important bit â donât make them drink the tea.
If someone said yes to tea, started drinking it and then passed out before theyâd finished it, donât keep on pouring it down their throat.
If someone said yes to tea, started drinking it and then passed out before theyâd finished it, donât keep on pouring it down their throat. Take the tea away and make sure they are safe. Â Because unconscious people donât want tea. Trust me on this.
If someone said âyesâ to tea around your house last Saturday, that doesnât mean that they want you to make them tea all the time. They donât want you to come around unexpectedly to their place and make them tea and force them to drink it going, âBUT YOU WANTED TEA LAST WEEK,â or to wake up to find you pouring tea down their throat going âBUT YOU WANTED TEA LAST NIGHT.â
And thatâs how you do that. The genius of this metaphor basically exposes everything â EVERYTHING! â thatâs wrong with the unevolved dinosaurs who think the issue of consent is a complicated one. Itâs not. Itâs tea. Freakinâ brilliant.
Bonus? It also works on kids. Just replace tea with ice cream. Though we suppose that works for adults, too.
A Woman Is Posting Feminist Messages Written On Period Pads All Over Her City
Important sticker I saw downtown
I did a show once with a female comedian. She got on stage and the first thing that happened is some idiot in the front yells, âTAKE IT OFF!â If youâre a dude, never yell, âTake it offâ. Unless a woman has placed a tarantula or a scorpion on one of your shoulders, thereâs no reason to yell, âTake it off!â
