Heather winced. Oh, the poor dude just wanted to ask for directions...
"Hey, hey, don't be sorry, we can get you ho- woah!" she exclaimed as the man fell back down.
She sucked in a breath, sharp. Though she had used this taser before, she didn't stick around long enough to see the after-effects, nor did she particularly care what happened to that creep. This was a different story, and either this dude was unusually conductive or tasers were more powerful than she thought. Maybe she should be more careful with this thing in the future, even if this was a bad part of town.
"Woah there," she repeated in a softer voice. She leaned down and extended a hand to the other man -- keeping close, but not quite touching him. Wouldn't feel right to.
"You want me to call an ambulance?" She took out her phone, and her fingers hovered over the keypad as she continued, "I think I better call an ambulance..."
Seymour stared down at the sidewalk below, an overwhelming sense of shame still causing him to avoid Heather's gaze even as she fretted over him. Every one of his instincts was still screaming to flee the scene as soon as he could, but that unfortunately didn't yet seem to be an option in his current state.
His mind raced to figure out what he could possibly say or do to make the situation any less awkward on his part, really only half-paying attention to what Heather was saying. Once the word ambulance reached his ears, however, his head immediately whipped back up towards her, muscles stiffening with an even greater fear.
No. He couldn't go to the hospital. He didn't have the money for that!
"N-no, don't!" he cried, unable to hide the desperation in his voice. "P-please don't... I-I don't need it...!"
His wide eyes pleaded with her to pause in her intended course of action. Somehow, the idea of being swamped with thousands of dollars worth of medical bills seemed an even worse fate than being tased-- a worse fate than death, even. When one could hardly scrape up enough money afford basic necessities, winding up in debt of any kind was nothing short of a nightmare scenario.
"...I-I'm fine-- look," Suddenly much more determined to put an end to his own helplessness (and to avoid any unnecessary costs that could come as a result of it), he took a deep breath and moved to stand up again, this time much more slow and careful in his movements.
Once he felt reasonably steady on trembling legs, he glanced at Heather, mouth twisted into what seemed to be a poor attempt at disguising a wince as a smile. With any luck, his effort would prove to her that she could toss the idea of calling the authorities.
"...S-See?"
(rises from my grave) (coughs up dirt) i lived bitch
Audrey reached out, supporting him with her other arm tooā¦but it still wasnāt enough. The man wobbled and collapsed again before Audrey could catch him. āWoahāare you sure youāre alright?ā Most of his legs were covered by the sail, but from what was visible Audrey couldnāt see anything wrong. āDoes it hurt? Is it broken?ā Audrey knelt down beside him, resting her hand on his knee. She pressed lightly, but it didnāt feel swollen, and the man showed no signs of pain. He looked away though, and Audrey got the sense that he was feeling embarrassed. āHey, itās alrightā¦weāll figure this out,ā Audrey chewed her lip in thought. The first thing she had to tackle was their communication. Kneeling down next to him, she rested a hand on his shoulder. Tentatively she said, āI know you canāt tell me anything, but do you understand what Iām saying?ā Upon his confirmation, Audrey smiled. āOkay, thatās goodā¦ā. Audrey continued thinking. She couldnāt really ask for help, both because no one knew she snuck out and because she couldnāt leave him out here and go all the way back to the castle or the village. āDo you think itās broken?ā She waited for his response. āSprained?ā She paused again.Ā
Seymour let out a barely-audible gasp as Audrey's hand settled upon his bare skin, her soft voice laced with undeniable kindness and understanding. She didn't seem at all bothered by the fact that he had nearly toppled them both over-- in fact, she seemed much more concerned with the possibility that he was hurt.
He glanced back down towards his legs, still avoiding her gaze as he shook his head at all her suggestions of a potential injury. No, he likely would've said if he were able. ...I'm just clumsy, that's all.
How could he express such a thing to her without words? After pondering for a moment, he finally met her eyes once more, raising one corner of his mouth up in an attempt at a reassuring smile before raising a hand and tapping the side of his head a few times, hoping she might get the sense that the issue plaguing him was a bit less physical and more mental in nature.

i want to see more of seymour IN his element, in his Zone, maybe in visiting places like other, probably more successful plant shops or a botanical garden or conservatory?? wherever those would be relative to him lol. how does he do when he has unrestrained freedom and access to his passion?

To be completely honest, due to Seymour's abysmally low self-esteem, it may not even be possible to have him be entirely in his Zone (at least, not outside of post-canon scenarios where he's able to grow more secure in himself overall), but what you described is definitely the closest we'd probably get to it LOL
If there's one thing in life that he's relatively confident in, it's his knowledge of plants. Taking him to a botanical garden or conservatory or some other place of that nature would probably result in a lot of infodumping about nearly every plant he recognizes, as well as lots of excitement towards every plant he's never been able to see in person before, and as long as no one was actively shutting down his enthusiasm (even better if they actually encouraged it), he'd have a great time!

The panic in Audreyās chest increased as he continued to just stare blankly at her. Maybe heās in shock, she thought to herself. And he wasnāt making any motion with his hands or anything, he was just looking at her. And the more she studied his predicament, she realized that he had absolutely nothing with him other than the sail. The entire situation was puzzlingā¦how does a man end up completely unclothed and with no belongings in the middle of the beach on a perfectly sunny day? And why wonāt he say anything, in any language.
Audrey gazed out across the horizon. There was not a ship in sight, and the sun was beginning to head towards the ocean. Audrey then turned to look up and down the beach. There was no one in sight. So Audrey made a decision. āWhy donāt you come with meā¦I can get you help, something to eat, and give you a place to stay. Itās justā¦ā Audrey sighed, āWhere I live is a little different from the rest of this city.ā She reached out a hand to help him stand. āOh! Iām Audrey by the way. And despite what anyone else says, you can just call me Audrey,ā She wasnāt sure he knew she was, and if he didnāt, Audrey wished that it could stay that way. But she couldn't help him without revealing her identity, and she couldnāt just leave him here.
...What else would anyone call you? Seymour wanted to ask, as he found himself a tad puzzled by the bits of vagueness within her response. Was Audrey not her real name? Perhaps this woman had some secrets of her own that he wasn't yet privy to...
Nonetheless, he nodded up at her, then reached out and grasped the hand offered to him, curling his fingers around hers. After sucking in a deep breath, he attempted to pull himself up onto his feet once more.
However, despite Audrey's added support, Seymour's new legs were still not quite steady yet. No matter how slow and careful he kept his movements, they continued to tremble, and he struggled to find his center of balance. After only a few seconds worth of almost-standing, his knees buckled, and he collapsed back into the sand, nearly taking Audrey all the way down with him in the process.
Stunned at suddenly finding himself right back where he had started, he blinked up at Audrey before quickly looking away from the woman with a small, dejected pout, feeling his cheeks begin to burn with the shame of his own clumsiness. Nice going, Seymour... Now she knows you can't talk or walk.
