@your-bitchiest-friend
Nami and Robin playing dress up with the invasives
Fym that's "bad future" Robin okay the bad future Robin at 40 is high-key bad. Like actually hmu.
Wait why has every Nami and Vivi I've heard of fallen in love on people's Tomodachi life living the dream islands. Mine did. They've had 2-3 kids (I forget) and they fell in love immediately. Soulmates????
Wow it's be so weird if there were two girls each members of protagonist superpowered groups who didn't have superpowers who would do anything for their hometown and what it represents were constantly forgotten (in presence and their personalities forgotten) by the fandom despite using a unique handheld weapon, recognizable character design, and being half of one of the fandoms top 10 ships AT LEAST maybe top 5. And it'd be so weird if both shows had cult followings and the protagonists were pure sunshine both reaching to fulfill a title and to do so they have to travel the world and as they travel they pick up more superpowered friends and they were both TV shows with movies ahead of the timeline at which the show had last released an episode and neither were in those movies and both shows have live action adaptations where a noticeable amount of the fandom actually like it and they each beared the image and legacy of a legendary woman that came before them and established peace anyway I'd like you to meet my precious girls Suki and Nefertari Vivi
Thriller bark is so funny they're on sex offender island (wtf Oda) Luffy basically said "Warlord of the sea lwk a weak ass title" Sanji said (direct quote) "This invisible man's gonna be a divisible man when I'm done with him! I'm gonna kick his ass into fractions!" Perona's ghosts do nothing to Usopp. Franky builds a bridge out of nowhere and nitpicks it's quality immediately. Sanji rants about the invisibility devil fruit but he keeps interrupting himself shouting "NUDE GIRLS" THE DOCKING??? they're having a blast.
Zorobin vs. Frobin: Visual Storytelling, Body Language, and Fandom Double Standards
Let’s be real: beyond basic ship wars, let's talk about actual storytelling, body language, and character dynamics in One Piece.
Let's start with Zorobin. Oda has spent years drawing a super subtle yet constant visual parallel between them. From Skypiea to recent arcs like Elbaf, Robin constantly repeats specific visual codes (like her signature arms-crossed pose behind her back) exclusively with Zoro.
Mutual Admiration and Respect
Why does it work? Because they're on the exact same wavelength, backed by genuine mutual respect. We always see Robin paying close attention to him, acknowledging his strength and determination. Neither of them is overly expressive; they both value silence, independence, and mental toughness. Zoro naturally became a safe zone and a haven of security for her from day one.
On top of that, there's the family dynamic. The moments where Zoro and Robin act as joint parental figures (looking after, protecting, and keeping an eye on Chopper together) are heavily backed by official panels all over the manga. Seriously, maybe some people need to re-watch One Piece, because watching them co-parent Chopper is literally right there in front of your eyes.
What About Frobin? The Reality with Franky
Now let's talk about Frobin. Unlike Zorobin, Robin clearly sees Franky as her goofy best friend: the dude acting like a clown 24/7 who secretly drives her nuts.
Just look at the panels; Robin's face says it all. She even openly says that Franky's eccentricities "would ruin her human pride." Watching her sigh in annoyance or lose her patience with him totally contrasts with the silent complicity and quiet respect she shares with Zoro.
A lot of the hate Zorobin gets stems from massive double standards. Haters complain about a "lack of dialogue" while idolizing totally opposite dynamics, or they make up weird narratives about who takes care of Chopper out of pure spite or wanting to force a ship while ignoring official panels.
Every time Franky makes the slightest gesture to protect Robin, the community loses its mind shouting "Canon!", interpreting every rescue or physical closeness as definitive proof of romance, while building entire romantic theories out of basic platonic interactions.
The Protection Double Standard
But what happens when it's Zorobin? When Zoro is the one protecting Robin, covering her blind spots, strategically positioning himself right next to her, or sharing those trust-filled silences, they instantly strip away all the narrative weight. They use the cheap excuse that "it's just his job" or that "he does it with anyone" just to downplay it and justify their own bias.
They conveniently ignore that the way Zoro and Robin unconditionally watch each other's backs has a unique visual weight and parallel that Oda literally doesn't draw with anyone else. While one gets romanticized just for breathing next to her, the other gets his most key moments minimized out of sheer stubbornness and favoritism.
It’s hilarious when they try to invalidate Zorobin by arguing they "lack dialogue" or barely talk, as if Zoro's main personality trait was being a chatterbox with everyone. They use that empty excuse while idolizing a ship that, past Enies Lobby, survives entirely on superficial interactions and recycled gags.
What deep dialogue or real romantic development has Frobin had post-Enies Lobby? Inviting her for a ride on his bike, or him making ridiculous poses and her cringing? They reduce romance to quick-joke comedy, but when it comes to Zoro and Robin (two characters defined by maturity, silence, independence, and non-verbal communication), they suddenly demand long, cheesy conversations they would never ask of other duos.
They choose to ignore that the true weight of a relationship in One Piece is measured in glances, actions, absolute loyalty, visual codes, and being each other's safe zone, simply because they refuse to accept that a silent, respect-based dynamic has a thousand times more depth than an exaggerated comic gag.
The Age Group Factor
Another key point the fandom loves to conveniently ignore is how Oda organizes the Straw Hats on screen. For narrative fluidity and group dynamics, Oda tends to group characters by age range. Robin, Franky, Jinbe, and Brook form the crew's veteran/adult block, while Zoro, Luffy, Nami, Usopp, Chopper, and Sanji usually move in other subgroups.
Robin sharing more panels or "screen time" with Franky nowadays is simply a logical consequence of this age group organization by Oda; it doesn't mean romance. It's just mature crewmates hanging out while handling missions or reacting together.
The Outdated SBS Argument
Another favorite excuse to justify their ship is the famous SBS where Oda assigned the roles of "mom and dad" to the Straw Hats. But let's check the timeline and read the actual work: that was a classic author joke from years ago, back when Brook and Jinbe weren't even on the crew. In fact, Oda himself jokes by switching positions or assigning absurd roles (like currently labeling Franky as the "perverted grandma").
If we want to get strict with age range logic, if Franky hadn't been around back then, that role would have naturally fallen to Zoro since he was one of the older members alongside Robin before Franky arrived. But most importantly, Oda updated the dynamics: with Jinbe's arrival, the father figure and family pillar role officially shifted to him, while the overall dynamic adapted to natural crew coexistence.
Pretending an old SBS joke is "canon romantic proof" to prop up a ship while totally ignoring how the author restructured the family dynamic and how they interact in the current manga just proves they're clinging to a literal joke out of pure stubbornness.
The Illusion of Color Spreads
To top it all off, there's the desperate resort of always pulling out the exact same three color spreads as absolute proof that their ship is canon. They pull out Robin interacting with Franky, the motorcycle one, or him "holding her" (ignoring that he's literally holding Brook in that exact same spread).
This argument falls apart for two reasons. First, they completely ignore that Oda is a master of color illustrations where he routinely mixes and matches every Straw Hat with everyone else in casual, adventure, or comedy scenarios. Second, it's monumental hypocrisy: if a spread where Franky interacts with Robin is "proof of love," you better apply that exact same standard to the rest of the crew. What do we do about spreads where Zoro and Robin are together, sharing knowing glances or standing right next to him? What about Franky riding a motorcycle with Nami, or Zoro grabbing Franky's face the exact same way? Color spreads are dynamic art showcasing the Mugiwaras, not confirmations of anything, and using them selectively just highlights a total lack of actual narrative arguments.
Canon Inconsistencies and New Horizons
To wrap this up, we have to talk about the attitude of certain fandom sectors who act like they own Robin and throw a tantrum if anyone ships her with someone else, while projecting that same weird overprotectiveness toward Franky. But here's the ultimate hypocrisy: they blindly ignore actual canon when it doesn't fit their narrative. Did everyone magically forget that in Dressrosa Franky literally kissed Kyuin out of nowhere, and she even swooned over him? If, according to their twisted logic, every tiny interaction is "canon romance," why do they suddenly turn a blind eye to that? If Franky supposedly had an exclusive romantic interest in Robin, he wouldn't be planting kisses on other women.
And if that weren't enough, look at the present: the natural chemistry Franky has shown with Lilith in recent arcs fits him a thousand times more organically and funnily than any forced dynamic with Robin. At the end of the day, they cling to ancient moments and try to police who each character can relate to, completely ignoring what the manga is showing right under their noses.
Conclusion
The saddest thing about all this is the blatant fandom hypocrisy. When they get to invent a million theories taking any comic gag out of context or celebrate their ships with bells and whistles, the community cheers them on. But god forbid a Zorobin shipper opens their mouth or analyzes a real visual parallel straight from the manga, because then the whole internet jumps to label them "delusional," unhinged, or intense.
Their double standard is hilarious: they validate their own antics when it suits them, but they fear a silent dynamic that stands tall entirely on its own with official manga panels. Less projection and more actually paying attention to the manga, please. ✨🤍
What if I just like frobin because it's cute in my mind and I think they're fun. What if I think watching two quiet people date is boring and that's ok? You made really solid points here and I appreciate the work.
Why is your defense against "Zoro would do that for anyone in the crew" (he would we've seen it with Chopper, Usopp, Sanji, and Nami, two of which are long range fighters just like Robin so it makes sense) that it's an excuse? Diva it's like. True? Which is what this whole thing is about. The truth.
The only issues that I have with Zoro and Robin is that I don't like the aesthetic and I think it's boring. Frobin can be filtered into a steampunk vibe and I love the idea of a loud man who loves his girlfriend whole heartedly. Zorobin makes good edits, Frobin makes good fanfiction. They both have their strengths.
Also one petty comment why the zorobin shippers always drawing him taller we know that's not the case it's ok but like also it's not true.
Just as Frobin fans criticize Zorobin, we are simply defending ourselves and our ship, since your community shows absolutely no respect for other people's opinions. And yes, you have every right not to like Zorobin, but the argument that Zoro would do that for anyone applies just as well to Franky; it’s hypocritical of you to view Franky saving Robin as romantic while denying us the right to see it the same way when it comes to Zorobin. That’s the point—so I don’t know why you’re getting so worked up commenting on this, seeing as you’re being a hypocrite. That text says it all about you guys 🤷🏻♀️
And another thing: stop generalizing Zorobin fans as if they’re all the same—because if you’re going to do that, I’ll just say you’re toxic and disrespectful, like all Frobin fans. This post isn’t for your target audience; it’s for Zorobin fans who are actually capable of understanding a text.
This text reveals the reality of how Frobin fans behave on a daily basis. You stand by your arguments, but when we present ours, you refute them with the worst possible response—failing to see that the same logic applies to Frobin. You pretend to ignore everything said in this text and keep harping on the age gap and other nonsense.
okay. We miscommunicated. Did you miss the point where I said solid points were made? I actually really liked that post, it did actually make me rethink being a frobin shipper. And yes you are right Franky would save any strawhat as would Zoro. But this is sounding like that waffles vs pancakes twitter post about literacy on that site. "I think that Zoro would do that for anyone" "So you don't think that Franky would?" No if course he would too??? Like all the strawhats would???
So I think your main issue with my reply is that I, in a hypocritical way, spun the argument around in a way that favors Frobin. In which case I would support you. Most of those arguments really don't apply the other way.
However I was trying to state why I like the ship even though Zoro and Robin have all these things at their back. And why it's not just the show keeping me shipping because I don't have the time to watch it around the clock. Fanfiction is easier, and the original poster mentioned this canon-ignoring and it's true. I'm more attached to the characters and the idea of them dating. I'm not even at dressrosa yet maybe my opinions will change at that scene. Shipping is mostly fun for me, but it seems to bring you great distress.
"Shipping is mostly fun for me, but it seems to bring you great distress." Well, you don't know me well enough to say if this actually has a deep impact on my life. In fact, you should already be aware of what people on the internet say about those who ship Zorobin, or about the ship itself—the absurd attacks and the jerkish, annoying comments on videos that aren't even about Frobin. So, I really don't care who ships Zonami, Frobin, Zosan, and so on. The problem lies in forcing a narrative and belittling other ships—especially since none of them are canon, yet most Frobin fans act as if the couple has already been confirmed. I fully understand that people ship whoever they want because they see chemistry and development; I’m not toxic like the vast majority of Frobin fans.
I 100% agree with you a narrative is being pushed by Frobin fans. I haven't seen much belittling but I guess I'm on the frobin side of things. However under so many posts of frobin art I've seen people comment "cute but I ship Zororobin" or some variation (it's so unnecessaryyyy god grow up). Is stuff like this kind of what you're talking about, or are people putting essays under anything Zorobin you post? This sounds taunting I'm genuinely intrigued I'm happy to be critical of my own side, if you don't do that there's no balance, so could you give me a hand?

Say what you want about Oda (believe me I WILL) but he knows what his audiences want. One wants women with impossible figures, one wants shirtless ripped men, and a secret third wants Nico Robin in a suit or adjacent clothing. OP heroines, film gold, (which are AMAZING watch them immediately) casting of Lera Abova, that marine base arc after Skypeia, it's all lining up guys
zorobin fans vs frobin fans
Zorobin fans: Now if we analyze panel #278 we can see that Oda positioned Zoro's left arm with the same degree of bending as Robin's mom's arm when she died. This shows intense emotional connection which Oda writes for no one else.
Frobin fans: teehee what if the giant loud robot man and the cowboy nerdy victorias secret model kissed. What then.

Hell hath no fury like a girl trying to get to her sister
I think the V-Max twist is a good twist, I think it could’ve been executed better. V-Max is mentioned maybe three times in the movie, and it’s always treated as a throw away item. Yes, Jean is looking for it, but I think we were missing any info on what it potentially could be.
like let’s say that the whole movie we had whispers of it being a crazy weapon that can wipe out some people, or it’s a drug that does crazy things, and that’s why we can’t allow Jean to touch it, and then we get the to the vent scene, and we realize, damn, the government has taken her sister and experimenting on her and that’s the last thing she saw, and to Jean, that is the same level of the other things.
idk just a thought
Absolutely vile I can't imagine the scene being sadder give it to me now
Imagine: You go to Yelena Belova's office for a meeting with her, but it turns out to be a jacuzzi. She's naked in the water, and demands you take off your clothes and get in.
This is not a fanfiction, but a real thing that happened to my good friend Peter Parker. And it should have been me.
Ahhh, the shot of this random guy helping Superman stand up warms my heart.
One thing many modern superhero films miss out on, I feel is the Superhero's relationship to the random people they save. Many MCU films have escalated to the point of numbers so high its unthinkable- and they've lost that personal touch. Moments like this are a visual metaphor for what makes the hero keep fighting, keep going, keep standing up. There's a reason this scene from Spiderman II is one of my favorites ever.
Teachers AU Frobin!! I reallyyyyy enjoyed making this🥹
I love venice I wish it wasn't niche. Never wish war on the people, citizens of venice, the ensemble numbers are legendaryyyyy
