it was legitimately hilarious but never held back when nailing you in the gut, the animation was innovative and gorgeous, the character designs were fantastic and the way they blended the different styles of the different dimensions was amazing, the setting was spot-on and they really made NYC come alive and feel like a place people actually lived, the writing was so fucking tight and the way they frame the story (the comic books!) was so fun and so heartwarming, the characters were seriously so so charming and full of life and seeing their joy at finally meeting other people who get it was just. wow. it’s one of those movies you watch that makes you think “oh, this is why we made art. for stuff like this”

This is blatantly untrue

Companies do not experience one day of revenue loss and pull the plug, destroying years of work and firing dozens if not hundreds of employees.

Companies which experience loss in revenue and consumer interest make investments and changes in order to regain their users/customers. That’s why organized protests and boycotts WORK. Tumblr will NOT go down after one bad day or week, but they might be willing to listen to its userbase if we put up an organized protest. (If you don’t believe me, think about how long sites like MySpace and Google+ hang around with fractions of their previous user base, often for years.)

Yahoo paid over one billion dollars for Tumblr, and the website will not go offline because of a one-day event, so in conclusion,

DO log off on December 17th to show Tumblr that you disapprove of its recent content ban and clumsy execution of censorship.

I will always support girls who figure out that they’re lesbians after thinking they were bisexual and girls who figure out that they’re bisexual after thinking they were lesbians. What ‘gifted child’ discourse is ACTUALLY saying: The way many educational systems treat children who’ve been identified as ‘gifted’ is actively harmful in that it a. obliges kids to give up socialising with their same-age peers in favour of constantly courting the approval of adult ‘mentors’ who mostly don’t give a shit about them, b. demands that they tie their entire identity to a set of standards that’s not merely unsustainable, but intentionally so, because its unstated purpose is to weed out the ‘unworthy’ rather than to provide useful goals for self-improvement, and c. denies them opportunities to learn useful life skills in favour of training them up in an excruciatingly narrow academic skill-set that’s basically useless outside of an institutional career path that the vast majority of them will never be allowed to pursue.
