look at my sweet girl 🤏🥹
if you want to dress gay but aren’t sure how, you need to focus more on finding clothes you actually like and that make you feel good when you look in the mirror. develop your style independently of what you think looks gayest and trust the homosexuality will follow. it goes where confidence and self acceptance are
Hi,it's me again! I've watched the whole Adolescence of Utena yesterday and I really want to thank you for recommending it to me!! Despite numerous differences between the show and the movie,I love it a lot!! Both versions stole my heart, truly. I appreciated Anthy being more of a heroine trying to save both her and Utena in Adolescence,Utena's design in it,the beautiful animation, how the movie had even more of an oneiric aura than the anime itself (fascinating!), and obviously the ending.
hi, i'm really glad you enjoyed it!!! it's really interesting with the changes they made, mostly with Anthy's character. it's really good to see an Anthy who is not dependent on Akio and with more free will. Utena is really fascinating too, she's really different from her show counterpart but i love her the same. the animation is genuinely insane... especially the backgrounds. so much care in the geometric and cynical shapes of the school, the movements of everything are smooth and amazing. the the symbolism and metaphor of the transition from adolescence to adulthood are absurd. the metaphor of the car is absurd. the actual lesbianism is insane. they are insane
i just think they're cute
i love u juri arisugawa i never stop thinking abt u. thinking abt how she tried to take utenas ring away for her own good but we wouldnt have known yet back then. thinking about how she still tried looking out for shiori even though shiori hated her (even if it was because she still held an idealized version of shiori in her mind). thinking about her helping utena by giving her a sword for that duel when utena no longer had anthy. thinking about her complicated relationship with her own masculinity and femininity. thinking about her showing up in that pants outfit to nanamis party. thinking about her cynicism and despair and her disillusionment with miracles. thinking about how disciplined and excellent she is. my fencing club captain i love you
Queer media: Fights for decades to paint queerness and queer love in a positive light
The dipshit brothers: "Here, hold our GLAAD award-"
I'm genuinely angry at GLAAD for rewarding the bare minimum.
I understand it's easy and efficient to shorten danmei names to their initials while talking about them but also certain initials already have set meanings in my head so I'll read a post about, say, hualian and go "ah yes, my favourite couple: Extra Large and Headcanon
you must remember that you're gonna continue to find things (art, nature, people, etc) that amaze you and ground you and you're gonna be glad to be alive to experience it
Sooo you're telling me that Will's "look of realisation" that sparked mwtfdydgate was a look of... worry?
Because that did really not come across as that.
It didn't. Not in the slightest. And his behavior afterwards certainly didn't suggest he was worried, either.
What could he have been worried about? He was curious about how to know if someone likes you and he got his answer.
Was he supposed to be worried that he may have been sending signals to Mike? Because he was always overly cautious, if anything.
It makes no sense.
They shouldn't have let straight people write a character like Will.
the great thing about tumblr is that you can meet people you'll vibe with on a level you have never vibed with anyone before and the tragedy about tumblr is that they almost certainly will live in another country

Shared Looks.
It's an oddly specific phrase, isn't it? I can't say I've ever used it with any regularity. At least, not until after season 4 of Stranger Things. It's an appropriate phrase, don't get me wrong. But I'd sooner say something like "shared eye contact" or "caught looking" or something like that.
It became more familiar to me after learning that it was a direction used by the Duffers. So, the fact that it ended up in the season 5 script, verbatim, was a bit odd to me. It means something to the Duffers. And they put it in the script in the exact same context the Byler community took it when we learned about it: that the shared looks between Mike and Will were deliberate directions, not on the spot acting choices.
So, we know the Duffers used it as a direction fairly often. We know that Mike and Will have shared a lot of looks before and during season 5. We also have instances of conspicuous little touches like Robin describes, as well.
I know I do a lot of bitching about the Duffers nowadays, but can anyone really blame me? I'd find it exceptionally farfetched that nobody in that writers room knew how fans would take Robin's advice. If the Duffers themselves were too dense to realize what they were doing, then someone else surely would have known.
People can come at me all they want that there was no queerbait (because apparently Will being canonically gay is enough), but this was a deliberate writing and directing choice. At the very least, it was done to fool Will into thinking Byler could happen, which, naturally, audience members would follow along with, but these directions were clearly intended to be seen as having something more than friendly to them.
Queerbait as a plot point to set up a character being rejected is still queerbait when it's dragged out for the entire run of a show.
WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE AVALANCHE METAPHOR!???? THERE WAS NO AVALANCHE IT DIDNT EVEN SNOW !! WHAT WAS THE POINT?!???
It's so stupid.
This conversation makes Will think he has a chance. The suggestion being that Will can think on instances where Mike has done the things Robin mentioned. However, despite Robin mentioning that it took a while, Will tries one time to flirt, but doesn't get reciprocation (though one could argue it was Will responding to Mike's flirting). Robin sees this, and she immediately decides Mike is straight, so she has to tell Will about Tammy so that he gives up on him.
So, it's not only that there never was an avalanche, making it a conversation that existed only to queerbait Will (and the audience), but Will took Robin's advice, only for her to be all "no, not him" after witnessing a single interaction.
Like, Robin, you have no idea how closely Mike's situation resembled Vickie's, and you swore up and down that she was straight. Steve, of all people, had to encourage you to do something about it, but you shut Will down after a single attempt because you decided it was hopeless for him.
Dynamite writing, Duffers.
You know how characters sometimes put words in other character's mouths when actually they're very obviously expressing their own feelings? It happens in real life too. And I honestly can't see the line "What did you think, that we were never gonna get girlfriends, just sit in our basement all day and play games for the rest of our lives?" from the Byler rain fight any other way. This entire thought is coming from Mike. It's sheer projection. Will never said anything implying this is what he was thinking. All he did was rightfully criticize Mike for being an asshole to the people he promised to always stand by and not even caring where Dustin was. Will's point - a good and reasonable one - was that Mike shouldn't let his relationship with El be an excuse for mistreating his friends and devaluing the Party, especially after all they'd been through. It's Mike who conceptualized dating and playing as two entirely incompatible things between which he must choose. It's Mike who declared it impossible to let their special quality time be on the same level as dating women. It's Mike who'd been considering all this, and came to this conclusion. And it hits even harder in light of how D&D symbolizes Mike and Will's overall relationship in the show. Mike felt the social pressure against the expression of his love language. The chance of continuing his and Will's close bond felt forbidden, because they're boys and they're supposed to be with girls now. The whole thing reads so much like that token scene in any romantic drama where outside pressures and expectations drive one of the central lovers to say to the other that they cannot be together and the future they want to share is an impossible dream.
when i was a kid i was so mad all the time bc i thought someday i'd have to be somebody's wife i didn't know it was optional. is everybody reminding the young girls in their lives that it's optional.
AND SO IS BEING SOMEBODY'S MOTHER‼️
when the fact that they used queen in the st5 trailer gave us byler hope...
