Rivetra 86 AU Headcannons
Note: This AU is very loosely based on the LN/anime due to my limited knowledge of it so far but the idea wouldn't leave me alone so i had to write some things down. If you don't know 86 i definitely recomment you check out the anime or LN.
-Petra is taken back from the battlefield due to her outstanding skills in observation and leadership and overall fighting skills and she's secretly assigned to a special team of 86s stationed inside the Republic's Military Base of operations.
- The Special Handler Unit consists of mostly 86s and a few old guard skilled commanders who didn't accept the Republic's unfair treatment of the people who weren't Albas and were deemed deceased, seen their existence erased and were assigned to the Special Unit.
- The existence of this unit has not been made public as 86s aren't considered humans and should have no place Alba territory.
- This Unit came to existence so that Alba Commanders didn't have to deal with the harsh job of monitoring the Colorata in the frontline squadrons and remained safe from the danger of Para RAID syncronizations and not having to work too much.
- Some of the Unit members consisted of Erwin and Nile and they each were tasked with frontlines squadrons on the same battlefront.
- Levi had been a part of the military for around 4 years, which by their standards was much longer than most soldiers dispatched to District 86 and his discharge was coming soon. He was well known thorughout the military, be it stationed on District 86 or the Handlers inside the walls of the Republic.
- Levi's Juggernaut's symbol is a blade crossed with a white wing representing his willingness to fight and carry the souls and wills of his fallen comrades.
- The Squadron Petra would be assigned as a Handler to consisted mostly of veterans and a few young recruits whose squads had been destroyed. It was named WINGS due to the way they seemed to swifly fly through the battlefield like a flock of birds.
- Their first Para-RAID contact was in the middle of a battle against the Legion's advanced scouting unit and their communications didn't go that well.
- Petra's inexperience with the radar-like system getting her frustrated as she couldn't keep up with the battlefield despite her on site experience.
- A few hours later on the same day she tried to contact them again but none of the squadron members responded. She wasn't able to fall asleep that night.
- In truth, Levi and Petra had already met in the battlefield before quite a few years prior. It had been Levi's first month in the military and one of their villages was being raided. During that fight he had been the one saving Petra's life from being taken along with her father's.
- She joined only 3 years after and quickly made a name for herself on the Squadron she had been assigned to. Her own Juggernaut had a Fox head sprayed onto it's side. Her symbol had been given to her by Nanaba, an older soldier who saw the way Petra ran thourgh the battlefield reminiscent of the small animal.
- Petra joined them for the battles every day at the designated time and eventually she started to understand how the system worked and was able to coordinate and help the squadron during the fights.
- After one of those battles and after giving them time to rest she tried to connect to them and finally got to have a much needed conversation with the members, getting to know them a bit more.
- She had already been aware of Levi as he was the Squadron's captain but that night she also got to know Eld, Gunther, Oluo, Nifa, Hange, Jean, Ymir and Reiner.
