i’m a bit tired, so my thoughts about this may be kind of disorganized but:

i think it’s interesting how singh subtly reshifted the focus of the (very straightforward) question of whether the us is at war with yemen by saying it’s not at war with the houthis. it could be unconscious, but it does seem like it’s an attempt to represent the conflict using the same framing that mainstream media is using for israel and palestine (ie. “the israel-hamas war”, as opposed to israeli genocide of palestinians or even as a war between israel and palestine) following the attacks on october 7th. it’s like they’re preemptively laying the groundwork to make sure americans associate yemen with houthis, while also leaving the option to argue any possible (officially declared) war is actually against the houthis

I don't think people truly understand the gravity of Rafah being bombed.

There is nowhere left to go.

The lowest cost is $5,000 USD to flee to Egypt. There has been people paying over $10,000 USD.

That is the only option

Rafah was the only place in Palestine promised not to be bombed. That promise is broken.

1.5 million people have nowhere to go!

do you know any good sources to learn about what's happening with Gaza and Israel? I want to educate myself about what is happening, but I don't know what sources I should trust

The first source I’d like to point you to are Gazans showing us what’s happening right in front of their very eyes. Listening to and seeing what Bisan, Plestia, Motaz, and others have shared is what helped me discern what’s going on.

What’s also very important to know is, this didn’t begin on October 7 2023.

Here’s an article explaining the Nakba in 1948.

When the United Nations called for a ceasefire in December 2023, 153 countries supported the ceasefire, 23 abstained from voting, and only the US and Israel voted against the ceasefire. Despite being outvoted, the US and Israel are still not interested in a ceasefire.

With each new “safe zone” declared by Israel for Gazan citizens to escape to (aka, be forcibly removed from or face death), these safe zone cities are quickly labeled threats and subsequently bombed, like what’s happening now in Rafah. It should be known too that the US has sent $130 billion dollars to Israel for the past 75 years— since the Nakba. Gaza does not stand a chance in defending themselves. This is genocide.

If anything you read gets confusing, please look into the everyday lives of those living in Gaza vs Israel that they themselves document and post online. I see very few posts from the people of Gaza that resemble ordinary life; the majority are photos and videos of unspeakable atrocities committed against their family and friends as they beg the world for a ceasefire.

this is a poster i made for my call to action assignment in humanities! it's a bunch of basic and easy stretches for people who sit and work at a desk all day (me)

the idea is that you'd put the poster up above ur desk and do the stretches every 30 minutes or so,, the whole routine won't take more than about 6 minutes to complete and when done regularly it can prevent wrist, shoulder, neck and back pain! :)

all these stretches can be done while sitting (although i HIGHLY recommend you stand up and move around while taking a break from working)
