Listen, Feel, and Reflect
Listening, not just hearing.
Feel, not just understand.
Reflect, not just advising.
Weāre all have problems, so we have to take a look a little closer to ourselves and everyone. Try to listen, feel, and reflect. Itās hard, but actually thatās all we need.
We sometimes get some replies from friends: āI know what youāve just said. Butā¦ā. Sometimes, they know what to do, they just exactly need your empathy by being there, listen, and feel. They need to share those heavy problems, in order to feel relaxed and lighter so they could do what they should do. Actually, it depends on the kind of the problem. But, we basically need to listened to.
Many people being mentally sick because they didnāt share what was inside their mind and heart. Many problems left unspoken. In many cases, the reasons that make people so anxious to share their journey and problems are (1) they were afraid about peopleās reactions, (2), they didnāt have.someone to lean on, and (3) they just simply so confused.
Those pre-conditions could drive someone tired, then sick. Those conditions lead to such behaviors: overreactive, too much crawling on sadness, too many thoughts and decisions without clear and deep thinking (like decided to commit suicide, try to hurt themselves), and get trapped on unhealthy lifestyle (like binge eating, anorexia, eating less healthy foods, too lazy for moving all around).
Iām a Political Science Student, but I barely read some journals (or books) of psychological researches (I know it is kinda sad because my student status isnāt a permission for not reading everything else). Iāve just read several articles from lifehacks.com, psychologytoday.com, and watched video talks on TED. Hence, what I write above isnāt that credible. Eventhough, I could tell you that what happens on me and my surroundings.
I donāt know about you, but I want to make this world better by listen and feel someone wholeheartedly, when she or he tells story of their lives. Then, after that, I can reflect as lesson for your life, for good. I hope that you would do the same.
Mental health is important, too.
