Unfortunately, with Aurora spending the season wallowing in Newport with perhaps ten minutes of screen time stretched out across five episodes, the show's connective tissue has all but disintegrated. We like to joke around here that she's the prettiest window dressing along Fifth Avenue, but for two seasons she's really served as the thread that interweaves so many now almost totally separate storylines. Aurora was just sort of always there and made the world feel as if it were actually taking place in the same universe. She had a thumb in every pie and was there to bridge Oscar's affairs, and the Russell's social climbing, and Marian's integration into society, and half a dozen other little things. And when so much of the core show used to focus on women's matters in society, she functioned as our red string or whatever.

Without her, we have a dozen almost totally separate stories going on and an eight-episode season cannot sustain that. None of them are being given the time needed to develop except, inexplicably, this damn railroad business and even that is truncated. And after being dragged out for six episodes, one copper mine nearly wraps it all up in a neat little bow. With Divorce-with-a-capital-D looming over the entire season, it's a crime that Aurora's plight isn't front and center of the narrative. No court proceedings, no vicious gossip in the papers, no tear-stained pillows. And now the only links between these pockets of society are frayed and fraught beyond measure.

Aurora Fane is a keystone species. Exile her to Newport and the whole ecosystem collapses in on itself. There is no longer any balance in society because it's being overrun by too many proud and stubborn big personalities when what it really needs is a gentler touch to calm the warring seas.

So today I learned that in the Dutch version of Sesame Street, they do, in fact, have a blue Big Bird.

I was baffled by this so I went on Muppets Wiki and guess what.

In Mexico, Big Bird is green and his name is Abelardo.

Turkish Big Bird (aka Minik Kus) is apparently fucking orange.

This looks like a fuckin alternate universe or smth. I can’t.

Actually, in the Mexican version (which is the one I saw here in Colombia, and was probably streamed in other countries in Latin America) we had both the yellow and the green bird. That is because Abelardo (the green bird) is the Mexican cousin of Big bird. Initially it was supposed to be the Mexican version of Big Bird, but then it was decided to leave both characters and make them cousins to help explain the kids about the migration wave between USA and Mexico in the 90s

There is even a chapter of the show were Abelardo travels to the US to visit his cousin Big Bird

Later, they decided that all the different birds, from all the versions around the world, would be "cousins" too, with the idea of showing the diversity of cultures and teach the kids about unity and acceptance against racism and discrimination
