Basic Fandom Etiquette Everyone Needs to Remember:

Creators do not owe anyone content. Do not ask writers when they will update.

If an author did not ask for [negative] criticism , do not give criticism.

Read the tags carefully before reading a fanfic.

If you ignored the tags and were upset, that is your responsibility, not the creator’s.

Disliking a ship does NOT give you the right to attack people who enjoy it.

Do not tell authors or shippers that their ship is “disgusting,” “wrong,” or “shouldn’t exist.” Shipping fictional characters is not a moral failing.

No one is obligated to justify why they ship two fictional characters.

Headcanons are PERSONAL interpretations, not universal truth.

Dark themes in fiction do not equal real life beliefs or intentions.

Leaving kudos or short positive comments genuinely matters.

Not every fanwork is made for you, and that is okay.

Scrolling past content you dislike is better than engaging negatively

Enjoying a fandom later than others does not make someone less of a fan.

Disliking a fanfic does not entitle you to announce that to its creator. Sending hate comments to authors is NEVER justified, even if you disliked the work.

Grief vs. Gatekeeping - a message to the Linkin Park fandom

[crossposted from my website] ❤️ A message to those still healing, and those who need to let others heal too.

There's a difference between honoring the memory of someone you've lost… and using that grief to hurt the people who are still here.

Grief says:

"I miss him. This hurts. I want him to be remembered with love."

Gatekeeping says:

"You're not grieving right. That performance was disrespectful. That smile was fake. That person is replacing him."

Grief can make you feel lost. Angry. Confused. But when you use it to twist joy into betrayal, or accuse a friend of being a traitor because he survived… that's not grief anymore. That's control.

Mike Shinoda was Chester's friend. His brother. His creative partner. They wrote songs together that saved millions. They cried together, raised their families together. Fought. Forgave. Mike carried Chester's memory on stage when it hurt the most -- not for clout, but for healing.

If you accuse him of "not caring", "not stopping the band", or "replacing Chester," ask yourself: are you really protecting Chester's legacy? Or are you punishing someone for surviving?

Emily Armstrong is not trying to be Chester. She's not wearing his clothes, stealing his voice, or claiming his story. She's a vocalist -- doing her job, with love, on a stage built by people who loved Chester too.

People laugh. People sing. People carry on. That's not erasure. That's how you keep a flame lit -- even when it hurts to hold it. If you have to:

Cut interviews/other videos into cherry-picked clips

Narrate/point out body language like a true crime podcast

Assign malice to someone's facial expression

Paint survivors as villains and newcomers as frauds

…you're not honoring grief. You're curating a fantasy.

The truth is messier. Gentler. Harder to look at. But more healing than hate could ever be.

If you're hurting, you're allowed to grieve your own way. But when you turn it into a weapon, people get hurt -- including the ones you say you're defending.

Ask yourself:

Would Chester want people hated in his name?

Would he want healing to stop with him?

Would he call Mike the horrible names "fans" have called him for continuing the music they made together?

Or would he say:

"Keep going. Love each other. Shine on."?

To those of you disrespecting Mike, disrespecting Emily, calling Mike horrid things, calling Emily horrid things, maybe you should do a little soul-searching. You are bringing shame to Chester's memory.

hi everyone! i'm coming on here to say my life has taken a toll for the worst, and I'm currently living in a shed. aka homeless. as well as jobless, i was living up in texas with a full time job, but unfortunately none of that money is saved as it was only for a few months and my sister took everything I made. as well as allowed her husband to try and hit me, verbally abuse me, and overall treat me disgusting. she forced all her responsibilities onto me, as making me care for her child in the process. and because I was so tired from working 8-10 hours every day upon walking an hour to work as well, and coming home and cleaning the rest of the day, i was kicked out. so I'm now back in my home state. and once again struggling, i still can't drive as i came from a abusive family who wouldn't teach me, and where her husband was supposed to help me he never did, all they cared about was my money and for me to do their jobs for them as they sat on their asses. trying to talk about this situation in a mature way with out saying how disgusting and vile they absolutely are.

anyways with that out there, my commissions are open and these are emergency commissions so i can support myself somewhat as, finding a job is very difficult right now and this is my only means of income.
