In the early 2000s, rapper Cam’Ron (pictured above) and his rap group Dipset made a statement by being some of the first rappers to wear pink. In the hip hop world, men are known to be hard and masculine, especially in the late 1990s and early 2000s. They rapped about drug dealing, girls, and violence in most of their music. Dipset was no exception. This was really a big deal when he stared wearing pink. This opened up the door for pink to become the color of choice for men in fashion. This will be very helpful in my final paper because Cam’ron and Dipset are trailblazers. They added their own originality to fashion, wearing pink furs and having pink cell phones. Men during this era would of never thought of doing this. This trend is probably one of the most authentic trends to come around in fashion.
This is a great example because Cam’Rom definitely helped pave the way for hip hop artist to express themselves in a different way for instanceKanye and Pharrell.
