A good beta reader isn't just someone who says "I liked it" or "this part was boring." They should give you specific, actionable feedback that actually helps you revise. Here's what I always look for when I read: • Pacing – where does the story drag? Where does it move too fast? • Character consistency – do their actions match their motivations? • Dialogue – does it sound natural or forced? • Plot holes – anything that doesn't add up or gets dropped midway • Emotional payoff – does the ending feel earned?
