Speaking of player-hostile design, are you familiar at all with the Cursed Halo mod? FPS games don't seem to be your normal wheelhouse but it's a fascinating example of playing around with the kind of player-hostile decisions you've talked about before

I believe the dev eventually caved on that one and added a setting you can toggle to censor Thanos' giant purple cock. The censor bar is shaped like a Twitch logo.

I have little interest in toy story 5 but it bothers my brain that sticky hands are sentient, because they are not permanent toys. They deteriorate once they collect enough dust. They last like a day. I feel like this will not be acknowledged, even though it would present a more compelling existential situation to explore. The other toys fear ever being replaced or thrown out at all, even though they are functionally immortal. The sticky hand is a background character but its existence should upend the whole perspective of the other toys.

I think forky proves that the toys gain sentience only once a child imagines that they have a personality.

And I know we saw sentient toys that hadn't ever been played with, but I think it probably counts collectively for mass produced toys. Every buzz lightyear and barbie and donatello are born conscious because they have an intended persona already known to kids. Faceless objects have to be given one individually.
