shadowbearing: Can I ask why? I've only played DMC4SE and I don't know the differences between it and the original release.

What iām about to say is MY OPINION, so if you enjoyed the game or disagree donāt take it personally, This applies to both Vanilla and SE DMC4, Because right off the bat, the only difference between both is the amount of playable characters
Straight up, I DESPISED Nero (Until DMC5 where i actually really liked him) Whiny, Loud, Stupid, Generic and every bit of an unlikeable prick, Helping an obviously evil group from the beginning until his story shifts from that to rescuing Kyrie, or as i like to call herĀ āDamsel in Distress #354ā, Thereās nothing to her other thanĀ āBeing Kindā and is pretty much there just to conveniently show up when Nero beats her brother up and be shocked as Agnus uses her a shield. The story was just a mess, with Agnus and Dante being the only saving graces, And it got worse when in DMC5 Credoās death was treated as this incredibly scarring moment in Neroās life, yet in the game where he died, is shrugged off as if nothing ever happened
Also, Nero to me was really bland gameplay-wise, Incredibly limited moveset and powers, and after playing with him for a few hours he gets tiresome specially with the Dice bits (And donāt even get me started with the Proud Souls)...
And then there the second half of the game, or to be more precise, THE FIRST HALF BACKWARDS, this is something i still canāt get over, i have no problem with backtracking in games most of the times, but this is just ridiculous, literally the same first half of the game backwards from the Saviorās Chapel to Fortunaās Church, with higher difficulty, the same bland bosses and a couple of new weapons like Pandora and Lucifer (Which are the perfect example of weapons that look cool but are not fun to use), it was actually painful, and had to take more than one break during my first playthrough
Special Edition ONLY added 3 new characters, and thatās the only reason why i prefer it, because Lady, Trish and Vergil are way, WAY more fun to play as than Dante and Nero combined... but thatās it, SE didnāt make it a good game, it made it a tolerableĀ game, but the core problemās of the original are still there, is not like DmC Definitive Edition, which actually improved a lot over the original, DMC4SE is the equivalent as going to the shop to buy the exact same things you do daily but with a different car
