you will live and you will say the wrong things and make mistakes and people will love you anyways.
i made this post because i've got so many friends that think saying something wrong in a conversation is the end of the world. it isn't. you'll be okay. you don't have to be embarrassed about every little thing. you are alive and doing things and speaking to people. you will make mistakes and you will live.

A petition was filed, Tuesday, in federal court in Canada to force Foreign Affairs Minister, Melanie Joly, to stop issuing export permits for military goods and technology sales to Israel, Anadolu Agency reports. The suit, launched by Palestinian-Canadians and the Al-Haq Palestinian non-governmental organisation and the Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights (CLAIHR), argues the sale violates Canadian and international law. Canada’s Export and Import Permits Act states that the Foreign Minister must deny military goods and technology exports and permit applications if there is a substantial risk that would undermine peace and security. “We are seeking to hold Canada to its own standards and to its international legal obligations,” CLAIHR board member, Henry Off, told Al Jazeera in a telephone interview.

Yaffa, Palestine
Circa 1920s
Palestinians gathering in a parade to celebrate the Palestinian summer festival of Nabi Reuben.
The festival of Nabi Reuben attracted about 30,000 to 40,000 Palestinians annually (~5% of the Palestinian population back then) mainly from Yaffa, Lydda, and Ramla and was celebrated by everyone, including Muslims, Christians, and Jews. And it would last throughout the entire month of August, temporary coffeehouses, restaurants, and stalls selling food and other merchandise were set up, and people sang popular songs, and danced dabkah. Sufi dervishes would hold dhikr sessions, and attendees would watch horse races, magic shows, and listened to sermons from poets. And this festival has been celebrated since at least the 13th or 15th century and died after the Nakba in 1948.
When Palestine is free we have to bring back this festival
I found this very interesting, so I looked it up. Nabi Rueben or Nabi Rubin is both a place and a festival, it was a small town around the tomb of the prophet Rueben, son of Jacob and Leah. Despite being a rather minor figure, he was indeed celebrated by Muslims, Jews and Christians in this festival.
Here’s some more information from Wikipedia:
The festival was apparently very ancient. Walid Khalidi, a prominent Palestinian historian, says it might date to Canaanite times, though some point to medieval times. There is a similar festival, Nabi Musa, celebrating the prophet Moses near Jericho.
The village of Nabi Rubin was attacked and mortared by Israel during the Nakba of 1948, and its inhabitants expelled. The shrine was abandoned, the miranet destroyed, and it was refurbished as a Jewish holy site. The festival was not held again.
