this is generally my fun space and i don’t really care to get sucked into discourse that i very much deal with in a very real way in my day to day life but i’d just like to make my feelings very clear:

people of mixed heritage have a unique experience of the world, culture, and racism. it’s coloured by intermingling elements of privilege and oppression that you simply cannot get if you have not lived it.

we are uniquely qualified to choose how we wish to relate to our complex identities; white voices whose perception of what a POC “looks like” are inevitably informed by racist stereotypical portrayals in western media have no say in whether someone “qualifies” as a person of colour.

TLDR: mixed people are who we say we are and white people can pipe tf down.

i think people should start applying the information they learned in middle school about basic research skills. stuff like “key search words” and “finding sources”. and if you don’t want to do that for a hobby that’s totally fine but then don’t simultaneously try to act like an intellectual about ethnicities and race perception.
