Buffy the Vampire Slayer – 7.11: Showtime
"A marriage ending isn't a failure at all. I spent eleven years with her. We were so in love that we couldn't image life apart from each other. We got our own place, adopted a dog, and supported each other through school. I thought if tow people loved each other enough the rest would fall into place, except... love isn't everything.
And I didn't want to believe that, but we were sitting in counseling one day, talking about our future and I realized we were describing two completely different lives. Where we'd live, what kind of life we wanted, what made us happy. And it hit me that- I love this woman and this woman loved me. And after eleven years of loss, grief, career changes, we were so deeply in love... but we weren't aligned. And I kept thinking 'We just need to try harder. We can find some compromise to make this work,' because that's what you're supposed to do when you love someone, right?
But the reality was, we had just become different people. Her trade school took her in one direction, my graduate degree in another and trying to force us back into who we were five years ago wasn't coming from a place of love. It was coming from a place of fear. Fear that, if this ended, it meant we wasted eleven years. But sitting there across from her, I realized: That's not how love works.
Those eleven years happened. They were real. The dog, our home, showing up for each other through grad school and trade school. I wouldn't change a single thing because loving someone doesn't mean you're meant to stay with them forever. And letting go doesn't erase what you had. We measure marriage by whether it lasts forever or not, but what if we measured it by whether it mattered?
What if we measured it by the love we gave, the life we built, and the people we became? Because love's job isn't to last forever, it's to help you become fully completely yourself, and sometimes the most loving thing you can do is give each other permission to be yourselves, separately. But the dog doesn't know were' divorced. He just gets two Christmases now."
Pulled this from this guy Preston Rakovsky's Instagram (@prestonrack) because it is a beautiful perspective on love, marriage, and relationships in general.
this pride month we’re all going to be radically pro transgender. or else.
hey so this means radically pro ALL transgender. don’t put limitations on this. all trans people are radically accepted here.
@reasonsforhope I didn't expect to start this pride month with an ugly cry but thank you from the bottom of my nonbinary heart 😭 💜🤍💛🖤
💜🤍💛🖤
Right back at you from my nonbinary heart
No matter who's reading this--
No matter how comfortable you might or might not feel with the word trans, or nonbinary, or whatever else--
Even if no other person on the planet has ever believed you about your experience of gender
Guess what? I do

alembic. that’s arabic for “the embic” lol
It's generally safe to assume that if a word is scientific or mathematic jargon and starts with "al-," it's Arabic in origin.
you will NEVER be able to guess what this post from the official US government consumer product safety commission was in response to (under the cut)
thank you so much for being the ceo of mel x arachne <3

Happy Gwensday! [12/52] Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
People who claim Gwen is not trans owe me and every other trans woman one hundred of the earth dollars
I know its not exactly common for cis people to have a trans flag in their room, even if it says "protect trans kids, but god knows no cop would wear that patch unless he was personally affected by that shit.
Oh wow I didn't even notice the patch on the cop's uniform. Yeah I'd say it's about as close to canon as it can be without actually saying it explicitly.
I luv your meleris art you're so poggers 🙏🏼
That fucking bird that I love, in spite of myself.

Alright, guys, settle a bet here.
Howard in Practical Theology says that eating an Olympian or Æsir is cannibalism, but everybody in Applied Genetics and the cafeteria staff disagree strongly.
So-
Is eating a god cannibalism (if done by a human)
Yes, Soylent Zeus is People.
Yes, but that won't stop me.
No, of course not. What are my dipping sauce options?
I always had them pegged as a building material myself.
No, but it should be utilized for pets and livestock feed only.
No, but they gotta be at least 1/3rd animal parts by volume (Pan, etc).
Isn't that what the McRib is? Then what the hell have I been eating?
I just want the results (WARNING: does not absolve hubristic liability)
Clarification: Bread doesn't count, we're talking the full grill master here.
Hope this helps (us)!

It's funny because "cannibalism" kind of had multiple meanings once speculative fiction gets involved--when used in a biological sense "cannibalism" only refers to eating other members of your own species or parts thereof. But in sociological terms cannibalism sometimes gets used to refer to any sapient entity eating another sapient entity or parts thereof. I've even seen some people use it to refer to non-sapient creatures eating sapient creatures or parts thereof but I think of those as misuses of the term rather than evolution of meaning, personally.
So this question largely depends both on which framework the person answering it decides they want to work in, and the nature of godhood in the cosmology in question--are gods a separate species, or is godhood a cosmic/spiritual trait that can be granted to any entity and may or may not be passed down to a god's progeny in whole or in part in future generations?
When dealing with real world myths, mortals having sex with gods is rarely treated as bestiality on the part of either the god or the mortal, so I'm inclined to think that in those belief systems gods are considered *functionally* humans even if they're not technically of the same lineage. Or as being whatever they claim to be when they take a physical form, at least.
*stroking my device screen with the tenderness of brushing the cheek of a lover returned from the war*
I- okay but- but screens are solid? Cheeks are not? Last time I checked???
I love this website I can make the most normal possible post and still get replies from alternate realities. what are cheeks made out of in your world plasma?
the wifi came back on
A distinction must be made between *normal* normal and Tumblr normal.
One thing not enough model kit enthusiasts talk about is how often you can save money by shopping for your hobby tools...in the makeup department.
Sponge painting? Makeup sponges are durable and have fine pores for smooth paint finishes. Need a plastic file? Glass nail files are half the price of gunprimer. Want to remove nub marks? Nail buffing/polishing blocks are less than a buck and you can cut them to size. Detail painting? You can get a 100 pack of eyeliner brushes or ultra fine nail art brushes for less than $10. I've had $2 makeup tweezers last me longer than the DSPIAE specialty ones. Paper nail files are even cheaper than sandpaper sheets. A cheap makeup brush set is perfect for weathering and dry brushing.
And if you just happen to find some nail polish that piques your interest while you're there, even better.
If you want to rope in the tabletop roleplaying crowd as well, it's worth noting that most commercially available dice bags are literally just jewellery pouches that've been relabelled and marked up by a couple hundred percent. You'll have a much wider selection of colours and styles than your local game shop's standard black, blue and brown, too; don't you want your dice to feel pretty?
already kicking the hornet’s nest by criticizing Tolkien today so I may as well praise Steven Universe lmao. I listened to a few of the better songs last night and man that show really grappled with a level of interpersonal emotional complexity that even adult shows rarely handle. at the time all valid criticisms of the show really got lost in the deluge of arguments that boiled down to “it’s bad to depict toxic dynamics between humanized characters who care about each other” which lol.
obviously it was groundbreaking for depicting lesbian relationships and genderfluid characters but it was really quite a nuanced depiction of like. the parentified child forced to bear the burden of emotional intelligence because no one else will or can. Rose as a benevolent antagonist who’s avoidant and inconsiderate to the point of profound cruelty and the frustration of not really being able to have the catharsis of properly hating your mother. everthing going on with pearl lmao. genuinely a very ambitious exploration of what it means to hurt and be hurt by the people you love and the kind of toxic baggage literally everyone carries into their relationships without intending to. didn’t always hit the mark of course but imho it was usually a smarter show than tumblr gives it credit for.
The real treasure was the fancy hat we found along the way.
As a rule of thumb, if you have to dig it up it's a crime, but if you can just yoink it then it's a-okay.
PS: Please note that some steps of the Troll Dance® were simplified for artistic purposes and I am not responsible for any of your characters being turned into sauce.
