ok this is random but why do fics make suki hate azula so much, thats not canon suki. zuko legit destroyed her village and she forgave him in 5 secs just bc sokka said he was good now. suki would forgive tf outta azula in 5 secs too!!
I don't think suki would hate azula but I am a firm beliver that she would go out of her way. I mean... Azula doesn't use empty words which means suki probably got tortured. And even if not azula trew her in preason. That's kind of traumatising. I don't think Suki would hate Azula I think Suki would be scared of azula. But that's only my oppinion.
i do not think azula ever tortured suki at all. first of all, she didnāt reply have the time and sheās smarter than that. second of all, she never showed any interest in actually going through with hurting somebody except for when it was absolutely necessary. before anyone brings up boiling rock, go read my post about that. either way, people act as if azula was much worse than she actually was. i wonāt agree to it.
plus even if she threw her in prison, suki seemed quite healthy when sokka and zuko found her. torture does something to people, suki was pretty alright.
zuko burned her whole village and people got hurt, yet suki was okay with him in a minute.
there isnāt much reason for suki to fear azula, she is tougher than that. being thrown in prison isnāt a pleasant experience of course but suki has gone through much worse stuff and she still was okay.

Everyone talks about Sokka's Kataang oogies, but can you imagine poor Izumi having to put up with her parents on the daily? Like they will occasionally re-enact that scene and just grin at each other the whole time like dorks. "Zuko, should we order lunch now?" "You know, being Fire Lord and all, I might be able to make that happen" "That would be impressive." Meanwhile, Izumi is trying to read a book or something on the other side of the room and is just "I am right here, can you NOT?"

why does azula have blue fire? well, unlike what some people seem to believe, it is not something that just magically happened, no.
it is because sheās just that smart.
while everyone else goes punching around like animals, she focuses her power on two fingers, therefore her shots are more precise and the fire hotter which in return makes it blue! simple. this is something that she most likely adapted from lightningbending techniques onto her firebending. and letās remember that she literally was the only one to do so!!!

Buuuut on the other hand I have a feeling thatās probably not it. After all, we see Azula finalizing (/perfecting one move of) her study of lightning generation during some of her first appearances with Lo and Li. But sheās already consistently producing blue fire. So itās possible but seems unlikely to me. She also produces blue fire from her palm, fist, and feet throughout the show, which is pretty typical of firebenders and not quite so concentrated.
Personally, I think itās from discipline and power combined. In our world, the most common place a lot of people (myself especially as a chemistry student) see blue flame is from Bunsen burners. Or... I suppose gas stoves, but I donāt have one. This blue flame results from a fire that basically has as much oxygen as is needed to combust, resulting in no unburned carbon. The yellow and orange and red that we attribute to fire is the result of said carbon. Blue fire also is hotter than orange fire.
Keeping that in mind, we basically see that Azulaās version of firebending is more āefficientā than everyone elseās and burns hotter. Iām gonna be frank, I have no clue how the fandom thinks firebending works and I donāt have a theory of my own, but Iām basically going to chalk it up to Azula being able to provide more of whatever it is that makes her fire burn than other firebenders. It probably stems from a lot of training to build up her own power, as well as the discipline to know just how much ājuiceā to give her flame.
Interestingly, this also suggests that there may be some element of āwasteā somehow in how other firebenders produce fire, given that orange fires essentially result from wasted carbon because there isnāt enough oxygen.
I have a feeling the oxygen in this situation with firebending would be the firebenderās own energy, but I have absolutely no clue what the carbon equivalent would be?
Anyway! Thatās just my take on the subject!
that is true, so yeah it probably didnāt come from lightningbending but i do still think it was because of focusing her powers in special points. the two fingers thing was something that just enhanced the precision of the shots but she can also really just focus it on a tinier spot and either way she has proven to be really smart in many other occasions. so maybe she just simply figured out how to use the oxygen way better than anyone else, as you said!! because if it was just from her teachings, then some other people should be bending it that way too which inclines us to think she figured it out on her own.
even when firebenders control the fire well (unlike zhao), they have never been as precise as her. not that weāve seen at least.
no matter how it happened, it wasnāt something that just randomly appeared because there are other good firebenders who never bended blue fire. so there is certainly stuff from her own merit, the hard thing is just figuring out what exactly was it
maiās character in the beginning of avatar is literally a perfect analogy for how strict + conservative asian parenting causes children to grow up emotionally stunted and unable to express themselves to their loved ones.
thatās why it bothers me sooooooo much when people try to call her āemotionally abusiveā toward zuko. how about instead of throwing random buzz words around, we actually pay attention to the behavioral patterns that caused ALL of the fire nation kids to become so calloused?
āi didnāt ask for your life storyā was a dumb joke. it was also what mai was told whenever she came to her parents for comfort. she was made to be aĀ āwell-behavedā child, which meant it wouldāve been impolite to burden others with her own problems. not to mention the stigma surrounding the display of emotion and that being seen as a sign of weakness.
which brings us to the line from that scene which i havenāt seen anyone speaking about: āstop worrying.ā
in traditional east asian families, one of the limited ways that people show affection for each other is in the passing of advice. when parents lecture their children about how to behave properly, itās all about guiding them on how to save face + maintain the familyās air of decency, which is like.. the most important thing ever š
with that one statement, mai is essentially professing her love for zuko in the only way she knows how. she is trying to help him regain the social standing he once had - the only thing he thinks he wants.
