Join the 100 Proof Comedy Team - Seeking Production and Marketing Interns!
The 100 Proof Comedy show is looking for some fantastic interns to join our production and marketing teams! Our show has been running in Chicago for four years, was named the city's "Best Venue for Stand-Up" by The Chicago Reader, and features the area's top stand-up performers, with big-name drop-ins from all over the nation! College credit is available where applicable, but we don't require that you're in college.

Working as a production intern for 100 Proof Comedy will allow you to experience what it’s like behind-the-scenes running one of Chicago’s longest-running independent stand-up showcases at one of The Windy City’s top comedy venues - The ComedySportz Theatre. You’ll work directly with comedians, and will gain hands-on experience running the technical aspects of our acclaimed showcase and open mic. You’ll also get to see a ton of top-notch comedy from some of the nation’s top stand-up comedians.
Typical Responsibilities Include:
Running lights and sound during our weekly stand-up showcase and/or open mic (training provided)
Setting our stage to ensure that our venue looks great for the show
Closing down our venue once performances are complete
Being a liason to performers ensuring they feel welcome and their technical needs are met
Working directly with show producers to ensure the show runs smoothly
Answering Audience Questions
Punctuality/Reliability is a Must
Availability Late on Monday Evenings (8pm - 2am)
Knowledge on how to operate a digital camera
Timeframe for internship position:
Minimum 3 months commitment with the opportunity for an extension
This is an unpaid internship, but college credit is available where applicable. There is also the opportunity to take improv and/or stand-up classes through The ComedySportz Training Center in exchange for your work.
If you are a stand-up comedian, you'll also receive a preferred spot performing in our Chaser open mic, and will be considered for the possibility as a guest-host.
You will have learned the following upon the completion of your internship:
How to run the production-end of a professional stand-up showcase and open mic
How to run a sound and light board
How to manage guest and in-residence talent at a live production
Working as a marketing intern for 100 Proof Comedy will allow you to have hands-on experience marketing one of Chicago’s longest-running independent stand-up showcases at one of The Windy City’s top comedy venues - The ComedySportz Theatre. You’ll work directly with the show’s producers to create and implement a marketing campaign for the show’s 2014/2015 season. You’ll also get to watch top notch comedy from some of the nation’s top stand-up comedians.
Typical Responsibilities Include:
Contributing creative content to our 100 Proof Comedy marketing campaign
Implementing our marketing campaign through live remote promotions and viral/online presence
Creating/implementing social media marketing
Working directly with the show’s producers via a weekly Marketing Team Meeting.
Above-average knowledge of current social media (facebook, twitter, instagram, etc.)
Must work well as a member of a creative team
Must follow-through on weekly tasks without direct supervision
Availability for a weekly marketing meeting on Tuesday evenings from 6-7:30pm
Availability to attend one 100 Proof Comedy show per month (Mondays at 8pm)
Reliable transportation (CTA is acceptable)
