APPARENTLY ITS ME GETTING SOME FEELINGS OUT OK
“Oh? Why do you think that?”
Blue lay his head in Lust’s lap, arms wrapped around the other. Lust stroked a hand down Blue’s back, humming idly.
The usually happy monster frowned up at him, before averting his eyes and looking away.
“It always flares up at the most inopportune time. I don’t have time to sit and be in love with someone! I have jobs to do, things to think about, places to be. I can’t waste time being in love.”
Lust laughed softly, leaning down and pressing a kiss to the top of Blue’s head. They were best friends, and Blue knew Lust had always been very physically affectionate, even beyond the lust trait he was afflicted with.
So he was used to these little kisses, to his head, cheeks, and forehead, writing them off as strictly platonic. And yet, his soul fluttered in his chest each time they happened, yearning, longing, hoping for more than just friendly feelings.
“You say that as if love was a disease. Love is a blessing, you know. It’s selfless. A lot of people where I’m from take it for granted,” Lust chided him, stroking another hand down his back, a soothing motion.
“Well, maybe I do think of it as a disease. I didn’t ask to fall in love-” Blue started, but Lust cut him off.
“But how lucky are you? That you’ve found someone you love? It’s not all bad, is it? Be honest with me, Blue. Beyond all the things you have to do, places you have to be, tell me something, from your feelings, not just how busy you are.”
Blue stared up at Lust. The other monster had a vague star shape in his eyes, and Blue’s eyes widened. He’d never seen Lust so excited. So he nodded.
“How does the person you love make you feel?”
Blue thought about that for a moment. For Lust, his best friend… as well as the person he loved.
“They make me feel happy. Safe. They always seem to know when something’s wrong and always seem to know how to cheer me up. And I always want to be with them. I want to tell them how much I love them, how much I cherish them, every time I see them. They’ve done so much for me, and I’m happy to be their friend.”
Lust grinned, his eyes sharpening into stars. Somehow, Blue letting out his feelings about love made Lust happy. He was happy to make Lust happy.
“So what do you think of love now?”
“I suppose I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend.”
Lust jolted in surprise, staring down at Blue, but the stars persisted. Hopeful. Blue was hopeful too. He sat up, facing his best friend, his own eyes shifting into stars.
Lust laughed joyfully, surging forward and wrapping Blue in a hug, resting his head on Blue’s shoulder, holding the other close.
But it was stupid for all the right reasons.
And Blue was okay with that.
