You gotta have a plan…
This is the mist motivational and inspiring thing I’ve seen all goddamn week
This is incredible.
Rational thought is Gandalf and I love this
You’re a serial killer who hunts other serial killers, not out of nobility, but because you love the thrill of outsmarting them.
You don’t have an Angel or a Devil on your shoulder. You have an Angry Viking and 50’s House Wife.
Both are telling me to solve my problems with murder
The debate is over the method.
The Viking wants you to mutilate their corpse and display it on high to strike terror and respect into the hearts of all who may defy you. The Homemaker wants you to discreetly slip a bit of arsenic into their casserole so you can collect on their life insurance. Both agree that their style is wack and their shoes horrendous
Cats will sit outside your closed bedroom door beeping so sadly and brokenly and then when you finally let them in they walk around for 10 seconds and leave
if I wrote a dystopian novel where the corrupt evil megacorporation that controls society has a fucking smirk for a logo, my editor would tell me to use a less heavy-handed metaphor
and yet
I love this because if I were to write a literary novel in the Western cannon that described the image of an apple with a chunk bitten off, any high school English student would tell you it is a Bible reference meant to represent the source of all evil and downfall of humanity and YET
Alright, if y'all are so smart, what’s the evil symbolism behind this?
I can’t believe this just happened
how do you deal with anxiety ?
i let it fuck me up then i go to bed
the only thing keeping me on twitter is this account
I live for these
ah, how could I forget the best one
and then there's just this:
have some more
A helping hand
BABY OH MY GOODNESS
my old english teacher did this once and i fucking sobbed. they read through the essay and gave me pointers and stuff but at the end they just went “100% because you were clearly extremely dedicated to this” and let me sleep in their class the next day
I wish I knew more about this story, but this should be 100% standard procedure in every bar or club.
#to anyone wondering why react this way?#odds are they drugged more than one person#and this way no woman needs to feel singled out as a potential victim#sends the message that people who do that aren't welcome there and they're actively ruining the night for others#and gives anyone who might have been drugged a place to go to get help (via @wingedkiare)
Her tuition so damn high she can wear whatever tf she wants
Spite goals
There’s a better thing to her story. She CONTINUED her thesis in her underwear and afterward her professor said “what would your mother think wearing those kinds of clothes”
And she responded “my mother’s a feminist also a gender and sexuality studies professor. She’s fine with my shorts”
i think the best part is that a majority of the class also stripped with her in solidarity
Just to give a little more perspective after reading the story:
The sequence of events is a little jumbled in the telling above. The actual chastising from the teacher came days before the woman’s thesis, during a practice run of her presentation. This was not a spur-of-the-moment thing where she just whipped off her clothes for the sake of being angry. Chai took the time to think things through before deciding this was the way she wanted to protest. She used critical thinking and level-headedness to decide instead of becoming volatile and aggressive, she would choose non-violent protest.
I just don’t like the way the story’s being told by others because it makes her come across as “overly-emotional” and “erratic” (as women often do in the media, because it’s easier to attribute extreme action to “hysteria”), whereas in actual news reports, she had time to think about her decision and choose the best way to handle what happened to her.

May 13, 2021 - Immigration cops tried to arrest two men in Glasgow, Scotland, on the day of Eid. A huge crowd of locals in the area of Pollokshields, chanting “these are our neighbours, let them go!”, turned up and boxed the police van in for seven hours, withstanding attempts by police to break through the crowd, until the cops were forced to let the two men go. WHAT A FUCKING RESULT!!!
I am abt to lose my fuckin mind because I happened upon this gender reveal party. and like it’s soo over the top expensive
And like I’m like. Oh great, a horse themed gender reveal party.
complete with like … just truly excessive foods and of course, themed cocktails
and this sign which like… the fragility of like *not* italicizing the word ‘colt’. Like imagine being this weird abt gender
with like, a bucket that eventually ‘revealed’ the gender
But like… the picture that really just completely undid me, for this party which surely was more money than many weddings -
it’s not a horse themed gender reveal party. It’s a gender reveal party FOR A HORSE. I can’t even like imagine the life that would lead to hosting a gender reveal party for a not-yet-born horse. Think abt getting an invitation to this. the cis are at it again.
This horse is having her own special day and you treat her like this
Unskilled means requiring no training. It’s an objective statement that doesn’t have a negative connotation. An unskilled job is poorly paid because it can be done by anyone without any special skills.
There are no jobs that require no training. There are no jobs that require no skills.
I worked as a dishwasher at a dorm kitchen when I was in college. Dishwashing is usually called an “unskilled” job, but someone had to train me to load the machine, how to run it, and what to do with the plates and things when they were clean, and I needed to learn how to do this efficiently so that the kitchen didn’t run out of plates during mealtimes. All of those things were skills I had to learn.
I worked on a sandwich line for a summer when I was in college. Food service is usually called an “unskilled” job, but someone had to train me how to make the sandwiches, how to prepare the salads, and how to prepare the desserts. I had to learn how to work with the folks in the prep kitchen, with the wait staff, and with the other people on my line. I had to be trained how to open and close, because sometimes I would get those shifts. I had to learn how to work quickly and efficiently so that our customers would get their meals in a timely manner, and so that everything was prepped and clean for the next shift. All of those things were skills I had to learn.
That whole “special skills” thing? It’s classist and probably racist.
Unskilled jobs are poorly paid because the employers can get away with it, and that’s pretty much the whole reason. They are permitted by our capitalist society to exploit workers, especially those workers who are most disadvantaged.
“Unskilled” workers make our food, take care of our kids and our elders, stock our grocery store shelves, clean the spaces we use, and do hundreds of other things that make our lives easier. “Unskilled” jobs require a fuckton of physical labor. Don’t those things merit good compensation?
Every job requires skills, every job requires training. And every job should be respected and have dignity, and should pay people enough to live on, and then some.
Look how fast the world economy crashed once the ‘unskilled’ labor had to stay home in the early part of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Unskilled” simply means “you are expected to figure out how this works in less than a day” instead of “no worries, we teach you over 3 years how to use excel and a copy machine”.
When I sorted bills for my university, I got paid really well cause while I was only part-time, the job itself is not deemed “unskilled”. Despite me literally just sorting stuff by numbers. Look at a number, put it between other numbers. All day every day. I even was allowed to have as much coffee and tea as I liked from the office kitchen for free.
When I worked for Subway for a month, I had to learn within 2 hours:
exactly where and how to cut the bread to make both sides equal
what sauce to recommend with what topping
how much topping to scoop per half
what all the breads, toppings and stuff are called and being able to rattle them down on command
how to use three different vegetable cutters
how to use their oven (that thing has like 9 buttons that all do different shit and none of the buttons got ANY symbol or word on it, all are just black)
what the day’s special was for every day
what the price for stuff was without looking at the sign or being at the cash register
when to change the gloves (all the time, for every little shit)
I also had to go to a 2 hour food sanitary training before hand to give me a certificate so I was even allowed to work at Subways.
The fact that I got paid much better for doing stuff that some simple AI could do in triple the time is obnoxious. The fact that people think that if my full-time job would be “working in an university office” would be prestigious while a full-time job as a sandwich maker is “uneducated” is disgusting.
Not all heroes wear capes.
Work/Life Balance is a Thing That You Need and Deserve, and any boss who tries to tell you otherwise is a lying scumbag.
Here's a tip that will save your life. When your shitty boss asks you if you're free to work at ANY TIME when you don't wanna work, don't give them excuses, don't explain what you have going on or try to come up with a lie. YOU DON'T OWE THEM SHIT. Tell them in a very polite an apologetic tone, "I'm sorry, but i'm not available." And when those nosy bastards immediately ask, "why, what are you doing???" because they want to try to guilt-squeeze-berate-con you into doing what THEY want rather than whats good for you and then they WILL hold your answer against you.... all you say is this:
You give them an apologetic look, maybe a smile or a wince or whatever you think you can pull off, and you say, "I have some personal business that I have to take care of." And if they STILL press, tell them, "I'd rather not talk about it."
You don't need to tell them that your personal business is sitting in front of your laptop surfing youtube while bing eating ice cream. You don't need to give them all your personal life story. You don't need to come up with a reason to have time off to rest, or to say No. They are not entitled to it, and they will only use it to try and talk you into doing more work than you want to.
Be polite. Be firm. Don't tell them a damn thing. You are allowed your privacy, and its none of their damm business what you do in your off-work hours. And RESTING is a TOTALLY VALID reason to not want to work extra. Rather than explain that to a low wage boss who is being pressured by their own shitty bosses to squeeze every scrap of effort they can out of every poor sod who works there, just tell them "i'm busy, it's a personal matter," and they can kiss your ass. Because if you VOLUNTEER that info, they can weedle you, but if they DIG at your private matters, you can call HR.
