Thought you were really cool until you claimed femboy is a slur.
it's what it is, it is literally a slur. it is not a neutral, positive, or empowering term, it literally originates from 4chan. do you really think in your heart of hearts that something that originates from /b/ on 4chan is a positive, lighthearted, jovial term meant to be used in conversation with your mom?
it is a term that i have personally witnessed be used to misgender trans women and transfems, and east asian men. it is specifically used to deny trans women their womanhood by calling people "girly boys", and reduce them to sexual objects, and to call east asian men "girly" because of certain secondary sex characteristics not being as prominent. this term is used to compare asian men to fictional anime characters as well.
i am willing to post this because whether or not you personally feel it is a slur, it is one. it is pornographic, it is violent, it is hateful- its origin was literally in denying trans women their womanhood and asian men their manhood. it is not something for trans men to use lightly because it sounds cute. it's not cute, it has been the source of pain and dysphoria for a lot of girls and people who spent their time on shittier spaces on the internet.
whether or not you think i'm cool doesn't really matter to me- what matters to me is the thoughts and feelings other trans people, and shockingly, that includes trans women & transfems. this community is NOT entirely transmasculine people- i am a trans woman, i am transfem. all of my transfem friends & the transfem people i know have expressed the exact same statement, that this word is a slur, whether or not you disagree does not change the definition of what a slur is, and it does not change the years of abuse and humiliation trans women & transfems have faced because of this word.
i hope this helps. if not, i don't really care. this isn't up for debate, this literally falls under the definition of what a "slur" is. i don't care if people stared spreading a false rumor about the term being coined by a "bisexual male sex worker in the 80s", it's a bold faced lie to defend the usage of an extremely harmful slur. there is no historical evidence for that claim, but loads of 4chan archives chock full of horrible violence towards trans women.
please, please, please, care about the trans women and the transfems in your community more than ONE word that can be easily replaced- femme boy and lavender boy are right there.
