It wasnāt every day Carlos ran over to his best friendās house unannounced. He usually did call but this kind of thing couldnāt wait. The police officer knocked on the door loudly, hoping she was home. When he knocked again even louder, finally someone opened the door.
āIris!!ā Carlos shouted hoping sheād remember him and be okay in remembering.
Michelle was doing such a good job taking care of her but he knew she could still have an off day.
āCarlos?ā Iris said softly in question letting him inside, āI havenāt seen you in a very long time,ā She let him inside and offered him a piece of gum, and immediately Carlos took it knowing that gum was her way of staying calm.
āYes, itās me! Thank you for the gum, please tell me Michelle didnāt leave you alone,ā He popped the gum in his mouth and looked at her protectively too.
āOh no she didnāt, sheās just outside with our new puppy, come on letās go surprise her,ā Iris encouraged as she dragged him outside calling out for Michelle to show off whose hand she had.
āCarlos?!ā Michelle gasped and turned around and practically leaped into his arms. āWhat are you doing here?ā She was speechless. She just missed him so much.
āHe came to see you, duh!ā Iris grinned and took a seat down as the puppy jumped in her lap.
āI am so glad that he did, thank you for answering the door, Irisā¦ for what do I owe this pleasure though with no phone call to tell me you are coming?ā Michelle asked curiously making Carlos sit down.
āMy vows are finished and I need you to hear them, be the first person to hear them!ā Carlos got out the crumbled piece of paper from his back pocket making a little face.
āOh my god!ā Michelle clasped her fingers over her mouth and bounced in her seat.
Carlos laughed as he watched his friend almost fall over. āI canāt believe this is even happening that weāre even doing thisā¦that TK even asked me to marry himā¦Iā¦ā Carlos started to tear up a little.
Iris leaned over and handed him a tissue.
He ended up laughing a little.
Michelle then swatted him, āOh stop being a sap and just read me the vows, pleaseā¦I am dying to hear them.ā She collected herself.
Carlos said ow but then nodded and cleared his throat and began his speech.
By the time he was finished both Michelle and Iris were in actual tears themselves. āThat is going to make everyone sob, oh my goodness.ā Michelle hit him again, āIām going to hear them again and still be a sobbing mess and Iām going to be thinking about them the entire time I am on my way thereā¦ā
Carlos sniffled with a little laugh, āI just canāt wait for TK to hear them and have him know just how much I love him,ā
āOh heās going to be a mess, I hope he doesnāt go second, heās never going to recover.ā Michelle sniffled.
Carlos took a deep breath, feeling so proud of everything heād written down to tell TK when they got married, he really didnāt think they were as good as Michelle had raved but the fact that he got her crying - he figured they most have really touched her.
āCarlos, you and TK are soulmates and I am so damn happy that this is really happening. Remember when he was just a 10 and ghosting you?ā She nudged him.
Carlos pouted, āDonāt remind me, I still feel like Iām sitting on that couch sometimes and it was all just a dream and soon Iām going to wake up from itā¦ā
āNa, I learned a lot from TK before I left, I even knew how much he was into you but afraid to say anythingā¦right up until I leftā¦and Iām kind of sad that I donāt get to work with him now knowing he chose to be a paramedic!ā She mentioned happily.
