If you give the main character of your fanfic a NAME, it is AN OC. NOT A READER INSERT.

You do not need to use y/n or reader throughout your fic for it to be a canon x reader. Just DO NOT NAME THEM OR GIVE THEM DISTINCT PHYSICAL TRAITS. Unless you tag the reader with those traits because that’s what you want to write for (for example; height!reader, ethnicity!reader, haircolor!reader, etc.) and does not use a name, you should not be used the x reader tag on AO3.

Some of you may not care, but those of us who care about preserving a tagging system that WORKS, and want to actually be able to successfully filter tags, DO CARE. And you should too if you at all care about the fandom spaces you are in. People in fandom actually care about fandom etiquette and understand the harm cross tagging and incorrectly tagging things causes.

And yes, this goes for the opposite as well. Do not tag OC fics as readers (and yes giving reader a name counts). Do not tag a reader fic as an OC fic.

Im gonna be honest i made this as a shitpost but after five seconds of reflection I’ve realized that’s literally Jekyll’s motivation like he explicitly says he had to give up his wild lifestyle of constant partying to lock in and dedicate himself to his studies and is so so frustrated that being a “good” “productive” member of society takes up so much of his time and effort. going from doctor to mister is a reflection of that; Jekyll smothered himself with the label of Doctor and wants nothing more than to rip it off

As an autistic/adhd person going through the job search process I’ve learned to phrase my autistic/adhd traits as corporate friendly things. Here’s some examples:

I have trouble reading between the lines and picking up on implicit information? Actually, I’ve learned the importance of giving and receiving precise, specific instructions in order to avoid time consuming miscommunications.

I’m easily bored with only one task? Actually, I have a curious mind and thrive in places with a wide range of tasks as I prefer dynamic environments where I can contribute to many projects.

I have trouble with white lies that are merely social niceties? Actually, I prioritize a transparent work environment where we can tackle issues head-on.

This way I don’t have to lie, but rather just spin my truth in a way that’s palatable to them.

It burns my biscuits whenever I hear someone say that a person or group "doesn't contribute to society." Society is comprised of people. Those people are society. Children should not need parental permission for medical care!! This doesn't just apply to life or death care*! A pregnant teen should be able to get an abortion without parental permission! Let teens go on birth control without parental permission! A kid should be able to see a doctor about a mental condition that is harming them and get it treated, even if their parent "doesn't believe it's real".

KIDS SHOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE MEDICAL AUTONOMY!!!!!
