I will just post about anything that interests me at that specific time. I do art for what I like.
Other facts: I grew up in England and am half English but I'm also half Métis (indigenous Canadian mixed with European), history, mythology, philosophy, and ethics, are all interests of mine, classic lit too, I speak some French, I'm pan and demisexual, neurodivergent, writer and artist as well!
Made my first fringe earrings (well completed them,) today!!
My mum helped me make them, she's Métis and taught me the technique, doing indigenous and Métis crafts like these connect me more to that side of me, despite my English accent
(They match my ribbon shirt!! See!!)
P.S. Both the shirt and earrings are clumsily made, they aren't perfect and they most certainly aren't even, but they made me happy and feel a sense of home, even for a short while, plus they're not meant to be perfect! I know they're messy and not very good but I like them anyway :)

Today I shared my story with mmiwg2s+ with people outside my family.
The story of the indigenous woman.
I've never done that, the story of my mémé's grandmother was never told. She was kidnapped from Rainy Lake Reserve by my great-great grandfather. My mémé knew her, my mémé who is still alive today and still talks of her and still lives with my family.
The indigenous woman was quiet. She never spoke, she never raised her voice, she sat in the corner and served her "husband". Her daughter would still be alive today if she hadn't killed herself.
If you're wondering why I've only called her "the indigenous woman" or "my mémé's grandmother", it's because we don't know her name. Maybe she didn't have one in English or French. She was Ojibwe/Anishinaabe, she was quiet, she was kidnapped and a slave and wife. That's all we know.
She was a ghost in the house she lived in, she haunted the corner of her own supposed home. She was slave, she was servant, she was wife, she was mother but she was never seen as a person.
My great-great grandfather was violent and an alcoholic and killed the pets of his daughter for "character building". He'd slam her cats against trees in front of her so that she would behave, he'd throw things, he'd hit and scream, he was violent and unstable. He took the indigenous woman and it still affects my family. My mémé's mum commit suicide, my mémé has been suicidal, so has my mother, and so have I
It's been almost seven generations
That's not enough, we are nowhere near reconciliation.
Fuck the Indian Act, fuck residential schools, fuck the government, fuck the police who let this happen, fuck the men who killed and took our people, and fuck the colonizers
Indigenous people are still here, they still struggle, I'm lucky to be half English and white presenting, I will never be killed for this but I know people who have
