i've been keeping up with off season trade/signing/draft news (pwhl and nhl) but i'm also in an intensive language program with spotty wifi that runs 5-8 hours a day plus homework so really what that means is i get home at the end of the day with my brain blended into mush glance over the headlines announcing that half of the league has been traded then immediately collapse face first into bed and fall asleep in a state of mild befuddlement

both the chicago and toronto announcers think the referees are doing a terrible job in the marlies-wolves series but the toronto announcers are being a lot more polite about it

it took me embarrassingly far into the draft the other day to realize they were saying "uconn" (university of connecticut) and not "yukon" (canadian territory). i was just like damn big year for the territories i guess good for them

i'm sure i'll be joining everyone else in the pit of despair soon enough but for now i am a little smug about how well vancouver is coming out of the expansion. look at my duckies (not) gooooo

#vancouver goldeneyes #apparently jenn gardiner and izzy daniel were both offered fpos but turned them down and re-signed with vancouver #which i'm taking as a sign the team had good vibes even though they didn't play that well

on the one hand i do kind of prefer the pwhl's strategy of getting all the expansion chaos out of the way within the span of two seasons rather than, say, expanding by two teams every second season so teams are getting stripped for parts pretty regularly until ~2030 (since the goal was to get to 12 as quickly as possible for tv deal purposes)

but on the other hand: aaaaaaaah

when i first started watching hockey i didn't realize delayed penalties were a thing so i thought the goalie just randomly leaves sometimes in the middle of the game and everyone is okay with it for some reason
