I've been seeing discussions about gender of folks in the alterhuman community, and the lack of feminine members.
Here am I, AFAB and a mix of female (mostly) and agender (lesser) genders, I don't know the name of this gender mix. Hello!
Female dragon here, completely boring cis gender.
same here!
afab and female, but nonhuman-female so I dont call myself cis :) a woman in the way a werewolf is a woman
alterhumans explaining their own alterhumanity through past lives and spirituality: yay! so cool! we love to see it!
alterhumans trying to explain someone ELSE’S alterhumanity through past lives and their own spiritual beliefs: no! stop that! bad!
just because YOU believe in it doesn’t mean everyone else does, and not everyone wants to have your personal beliefs thrust on them. stop trying to explain us ALL through means we don’t all believe in.
i want nothing to do with your belief in past lives. do not force them on me. my therianthropy has absolutely nothing to do with past lives. i am an animal NOW !! i do not believe in past lives, i have never lived before, and i am still an animal. past lives are not the only reason or explanation.

(Apologies in advance for the length of this lol)
What I like to say is:
I do support those with harmful paraphilias in their recovery
I do not support those who indulge in their paraphilia
Help is available, do not let stigma stop you (<-general) from seeking help. You are not gross for having a harmful paraphilia. You are not gross for feeling any feelings or thinking any thoughts, there is no such thing as “thought crime”. What makes someone “gross” is indulging in the behaviors of those paraphilias, not the thoughts you may think or the feelings you may have.
The “big three” paraphilias are mental illnesses, not some evil trait. They are also *completely treatable* mental illnesses. People with those paraphilias do not need to be treated as criminals if they have not offended and do not plan on offending. And even if they do plan on offending, if intervention of some sort is successful and they do not offend and get treatment they still need to not be treated as criminals.
People with harmful paraphilias are still people. The big three are almost always caused by trauma, especially pedophilia. They are symptoms/comorbidites of PTSD and need to be treated as such.
If paraphilias are not destigmatized (but not normalized) then less people with paraphilias will seek help. It is *incredibly important* that people with paraphilias receive treatment so (1 their mental suffering is reduced and (2 they do not end up causing others suffering.
If you are a recovered/recovering paraphile you are more than welcome on my blog. I myself am not a paraphile, but I also have a heavily stigmatized mental illness that people make out to be monstrous but in reality is a symptom/comorbidity of PTSD so I understand the demonization of my own suffering like paraphiles also face.
You do not have to be ashamed of your suffering. People hate what they fear so show them that there’s nothing to be afraid of. There’s so much help available and many specialists for things like that, your illness is recoverable.
Destigmatize mental illness means ALL mental illness, even the “scary” ones.

top tier alterhuman cringe is claiming to be anti-fur farm but still wearing taxidermy tails
are you entirely against taxidermy? genuiely asking. I am a little unsure on my opinion on this topic atm, I own some taxidermy myself - and getting rid of it is not an option, I also genuiely don't see how keeping my stuff would do harm, and all of it is ethically sourced. however I doubt I would buy new pieces and I am just not sure what my stance really is?
like, I could see some cases were collecting roadkill would be imo perfectly okay, but if you want to share, I'd like to hear your opinions cause you tend you have pretty solid and Based views I think :)
basically yes, all taxidermy is bad to me. i'll elaborate and also share the alternate vegan opinion on this (my own opinion is aligned with "moral veganism", but there is an alternate on this which is called "ethical veganism"). my opinion on this is supported by my other politics related to death acceptance, consent, and of course being alterhuman :0]
wait hoooold up ! i want to say that my opinion on pets is also complicated overall but i want to note that i don't think its immoral to keep family animals as taxidermy. i think it's more okay to keep taxidermy of a dead pet than it is to eat meat, or hunt, or get roadkill taxidermy, or wear leather or suede, etc. keeping a dead pet as taxidermy is as close as it comes (imo, right now,) to having ethical taxidermy. obviously the question of the animal's consent is up in the air for me, but it's definitely way cooler to keep Personal Mourning Thing than it is to do any other carnist thing. also i think fossils are cool. they are probably still as haunted as taxidermy, but at least they're not Meat and at least they're Free from the dirt outside Everywhere , for Free .
sorry this is a long one. im really passionate about anti-speciesism .....
my opinion (+ moral veganism)
i think it's fucked up to own human remains, especially in a private collection; a dead person who donated their body to science could not fathom their body being part of some random fuckass's collection in many decades. the only thing they consented to is being used for education; they did not consent to being sold as an object for profit to be owned by a stranger. i dont think there is a way to ethically own human remains [of a person who is not related to you/did not consent to you owning their remains], so any excuse i could make for owning nonhuman animal remains would be... just that, an excuse. if its wrong to do to a human animal, why is it not wrong to do to a nonhuman animal? (not asking directly. just being thought-provoking. my own answer is that it's wrong to do both because we are all Animal, equal)
there is not really such thing as an ethically sourced product of death. something suffered, died, and then a human saw that death as a way to gain capital. off of the death. directly. nonhuman animals do not know why they were shot, they dont know why they were run over, they dont know why anything bad ever happens to them. why would it matter? does a deer care that it was killed because someone wanted to mount it's skin, or does the deer only care that it's being killed? an animal which died from being run over by a car suffered excruciating pain until they died from their horrific and unfathomable injuries, the very last thing they ever heard in their life was the sound of cars on a road. the last thing a wild animal ever hears in it's entire life should not be the sound of a highway. the last thing anything hears in it's life should not be a highway. and then.... some human stranger looked upon their suffering and said "i could make money off this. this would look great as a keychain for my etsy shop." i dont believe in the idea that an ethical way to "use" an animal is to "use up" every part of them so nothing is "wasted." animals are not objects to use in my opinion, and i dont believe that animals are waste just because a human cannot find a use to assign tothem. that idea is based in human supremacy, and the idea that if an animal is not useful or significant to a human, it is not worthy of respect or life. of course, animals do not exist for human use. animals simply exist. if i was murdered and my body parts sold on a black market, i would not be relieved to know that "thankfully, every body part was sold and nothing was wasted." i am not waste. no part of me is waste. no person should have the authority to assign me as waste. i would only be relieved if my body was returned to my family in a way that will not cause them farther grief or trauma, i would only be relieved if i was able to have a respectful death. another thing is that a lot of fur-sellers can just... lie. i follow a therian-coded local shop which sells taxidermy (among other things) and the only thing proving that the fur is ethically sourced is an instagram caption which says "ethically sourced." that's it. someone just... typed it. there's no actual proof that the animal they're selling wasnt poached or fur-farmed. most fur-selling shops are like this. the only thing "proving" that their furs are "ethically sourced" is that they Said It Outloud. i'm not saying every taxidermist is a scammer fur farmer obviously, but i think it's useful to remain skeptical, especially when there are victims involved who cannot speak for themselves, and someone financially profits from their victimhood EDIT: THIS IS WHAT THE ORIGINAL POST IS REFERENCING, THE FACT THAT THERE'S NOT ACTUALLY A WAY TO KNOW FOR CERTAIN THAT A FUR TAIL DID NOT COME FROM A FUR FARM. it's also referencing how i believe in general that all products of death are bad
there is another aspect to this from the alterhuman perspective, which is that wearing another animal's skin is just that. wearing another person's personhood. it is using Someone and their death as an accessory or as a decoration; not just someone, but someone you claim to be familiar with on a deep level. what if i paid someone to kill you, literally you, abyssal werewolf, stole your skin, and then said "this is MY skin, actually. i bought it, and now, your face is my face. abyssal werewolf does not exist and never existed because now it is me. the animal which came before me never existed to me." not only have you become an object for my entertainment and will, but you have also lost every single ounce of personhood because somebody else decided "you're dead now, which means my existence is more important than yours ever was, so much so, that i will never remember you, i will refuse to acknowledge you ever existed and replace your existence with my own identity." and plastered my identity all over you. in every way, this would mean you no longer exist. there is no "you". there is just me. you have been erased as an individual, forcefully forgotten. i would never consider your friends, your family, your childhood, your favourite food, your favourite memory, or how much you suffered when i paid someone to slaughter you. i would not wish this for a human person, i would not wish this for my nonhuman friends, so i would not wish it for a nonhuman animal. to recognize a nonhuman animal's sentience, self, and personhood, is the bare minimum. because i am also nonhuman, and i have sentience, self, and personhood. i can understand from a nonhuman person perspective that, once you leave your body behind, you dont care anymore. but no matter what, your corpse does not deserve to be desecrated or used for capital gain, period. honestly i'd be kinda annoyed if i died in a car accident & then some random 12 year old did quads for their tiktok, pretending to be literally me by literally wearing what remains of me, and then after 3 months my semi-eternal resting place was the bottom of their closet. no offense to quad-doers, nothing but respect for my troops! but. yknow. must admit, it's not an ideal situation. the ideal situation is probably decomposing peacefully and being eaten by other animals until there's Nothing; the only fathomable option
another way to put this, i would not buy my [alterhuman] tumblr mutual's mummified remains and pretend that that person is me. even, especially, if they died in a car accident; suffering alone for who-knows how long until death met them. that is horrific. even if their death was related to parasites, an infection, cancer, any natural cause you can think of is not devoid of suffering. if i am okay with skinning a nonhuman animal and wearing their skin, but i would not do that to a tumblr mutual, that means i must see my mutuals as something above/different than their True Identity. that's also Wrong. i take all of my nonhuman friends extremely seriously as their nonhuman identities. i would not harm them, so i refuse to harm their kin, because to me there is no difference between them and their kin, and i refuse to make excuses which harm their kin (them.)
discussion of racism in the paragraph below.
speaking of mummies, have you heard of the victorian "unwrapping parties"? where rich white english victorians would buy dead human people who had been stolen from their graves in their home, grab a drink, fuck up the mummified person's deeply significant burial items, laugh about it, and then sometimes grind up those humans to use in mummy brown paint? that was pretty fucked up, right? that was pretty fucked up. it wasnt fucked up because we "lost significant archaeological evidence," it's fucked up because it's racist, destructive, supremacist. because humans ascribe very deep cultural, spiritual, personal meaning to death and burial. that was a Person who probably learned about death from a young age, and for however long they lived, they understood their death to be a specific way. they, and people important to them consented to their death being handled in a specific way. this was important to them. it should be important to us all, not something ever worth destruction. the racism aspect is obviously that the mummified people were racialized -> dehumanized -> objectified, thought of as lesser-than human, and this racist dehumanization is what lead to the destruction of them, their culture, family, etc, by whites. racialized people across all ages have been compared to nonhuman animals or even below animals. if we view the extreme violence racialized people face under the veil of dehumanization as unacceptable, why is it acceptable to do to others [animals]? (it's not acceptable.)
(btw pleeease read about Benjamin Lay. i love him im such a fan! he was one of the first white slavery abolitionists, and later in life he became one of the first (by modern definitions) vegans of history which is deeply supported by his anti-racism and his spirituality!! also he's disabled and married another disabled lady. he's just so fucking cool. link to video essay about little benjamin here. trigger warning because the essayist does a bad accent sometimes and it's toxic-levels of cringe)
ethical veganism
ethical vegans will not support factory farming, but thinks it's fine to buy leather coats as long as they're secondhand (therefore, not one bit of money is going towards supporting the Death Machine.) the difference between moral veganism and ethical veganism is that ethical veganism has an emphasis on harm reduction and anti-suffering/anti-torture, while moral veganism has (all that and) an emphasis on anti-objectification. to a moral vegan, it is not enough to simply not torture and kill animals, they must also not be objectified because objectification is what leads all speciesist acts. on a larger scale, objectification (dehumanization) is what leads to all forms of oppression, therefore all forms of objectification must be completely eliminated.
on the first few months of my vegan journey, i was more aligned with ethical veganism. i dont think its a terrible opinion to have, if i was an ethical vegan i might still be able to go to some aquariums LOL. i think it's possible to be vegan and have a leather couch you got from the thrift store. personally, not gonna sit on the skin and flesh couch haunted by a hundred cows, but i understand why someone has this opinion still or might want to keep certain preserved skins. typically once someone becomes an ethical vegan, they wont buy new leathers or furs at all, but will keep any they previously had. i dont think ethical vegans go to hell or anything, i'm just a little beyond that point now :0)
even though i consider myself a moral vegan this is unfortunately where i am. i admit i still own 2 furs and 1 leather. this is a failure for me. i'm accepting more and more that "my" tails need to be buried, and my coat... sigh..... i hate wearing it anyways, all i can think of is how ed-gein-ish it is for me to be wearing skin. so icky LOL. maybe i'll contact a seamstress and ask if they can replace the leather on the jacket with brown fabric? if that's not possible the only option is to also bury it. this may seem extreme. i guess it is :0). donating it to a secondhand shop isn't an option because, yknow, i'd be continuing the animal's objectification and allowing someone else to use them for profit (even though no money will support their slaughter ever again, thats not enough for me). which is the whole point of my dilemma, yknow, to Not do that, so, when i get rid of them it'll be burial. (burial because i dont want a human to find them and take them home, and i dont know if/what chemicals were used to preserve the skin so i also dont want another animal eating it and getting poisoned. decomposing deep in the earth it'll be.)
losing "my" tails is no loss to me compared to the suffering and loss of life the individuals have already faced. i'm just gonna thrift some big fuzzy pillows and sew my own tail :0) My tail. really, actually, Mine. i think that will hold more significance to me than any real fur ever could. even typing about creating my own tail with my hands as a gift to myself is making me emotional.... the human parts of me using tools to create a gift for the nonhuman parts of me.... ohhh what greater show of unity and self love could exist... ohh.... [....spiritual yearning....]
the "ethical taxidermy" i will forever own is some of my cat Ussa's teeth and his whiskers <3 to create my own ethical taxidermy, when Ussa dies and is cremated to ashes, some of his ashes will be sewn into a look-alike plush and i'll attach his real whiskers to the plush's face :0) so cute
to finish off this uh. essay.... oops.... i just want to throw out there that of course vegans like us get accused often of being pushy... i have no intentions to be pushy at all. my opinion has changed a lot since i became vegan in september/october 2024, and it will probably change many times more through the next few years. your opinion will also probably change many times (this is a good thing!). wherever you're at right now is cool. not buying beef burgers is definitely the most important part. i hope you learned something or i made you think in a new way at least x0) also, thanks for the opportunity to yap and howl about this.... im very passionate about this as u can see hehe. hopefully this is coherent LOL
wow, thank you for the very elaborate reply! ^^ my answer will not be as long and probably a little incoherent (I'm sorry, I'm soooo tired but I don't want to risk forgetting about this, so I'm writing it now lmao)
first off, let me say that I agree with you, on pretty much everything. I knew that these two different viewpoint on veganism (ethical vs. moral) existed, I just didn't know they had actual names. I would see myself much more as a moral vegan too, but - and this is where we probably disagree - is I seem to define objectification and exploitation a little different than you do.
okay, before I jump into this without any plan at all, let me try to make this at least a litlle bit structured.
what is objectification?
to me, that means reducing a person (human or not) to nothing more than, well, an object. either in the metaphorical or in the literal sense. in the sense of taxidermy, for me this always includes anything that is made to be worn, as clothing or accessory and anything that is purely meant to decoration. the things that can be objectification but don't have to be are memorials from pets, items with practical use (not really relevant for this discussion, but for example crafting tools used by indegineous people - so, not because the items have practical use but because they are bound to tradition and perhaps religious or spiritual beliefs) and skulls. The latter are what most of my taxidermy is - in fact, I only have skulls, some bones (from a bird I found, so I have their skull too) and some antlers (aside from one, I am very certain they were all shed naturally, with one I just can't really say). now, why do I not think owning these skulls is obejctifying the animal? because I don't see them as objects. when I look at them, I don't see Just A Lifeless Skull, but I see an individual. I see a life lived, I see a person, a being. would I buy new skulls or collect new ones from the woods? no. do I think I am doing harm by keeping them and continue honoring their lifes in the ways I can? also no.
my best example for this standpoint is my cow skull - her name is Erika. I don't know what the cow was actually named, if she even had a name or was a female cow, but I gave her a name symbolically. she was not killed for her skull, but it was a byproduct of slaughter. when I bought her, I was a vegetarian and debated this purchase with myself for a while, but ultimately, I wanted her to not be forgotten. I saw myself with the opportunity to make sure that her suffering, her person, would not be forgotten by the world. I actually introduce her to anyone who enters my home for the first time and sees her there. I want people to knwo she was there. she lived and she mattered and she is, to me, a symbol for all the lifes forgotten. and this is how I see all of my skulls. Erika is the only one with a name (so far, I am now thinking about naming them all), but I hope I could bring the point across I see them as much more than just mere objects. (do I also like how they look? yes, I am not denying that, but I think both truths can coexist)
okay, that much about that. this is the reason why for me, just getting rid of them is not an option, burying them would feel much more disrespectful to me than keeping them (and also, most have been bleached with chemicals at some point and I don't know if there is residue in the bones or something? which would also be a concern) and giving tjem to someone else would... not solve the problem either, at all.
BUT what about clothing items or tails and such? yeah no, those in my opinion are never okay to keep, no matter how you got them, because even if they are aquiered ethically, wearing them still normalizes wearing fur or leather or whatnot. the only exceptions I can personally understand are emotional value (example: you got a leather jacket from your deceased parent and still keep it but don't wear it publically) and situations in which you can't afford vegan replacements for items (for example you still have high quality leather boots and can't afford new vegan ones which have similar quality).
I would also like to add, just for... transparency I guess, that I can't really... like, the point of "you wouldn't want others to keep your skull as decoration" doesn't really work for my brain, because for all I care, people can do whatever tf they want with my body after I die. and perhaps it's the low empathy, but I struggle to really apply the concept of "but maybe the animal would care" because... It just doesn't work for my brain. so for me this is not really a lot about what the animal would want (me to do or not to do with its bones), but more about the logical approach: animals are not objects and not made for human consumption, entertainment or anything, so I should act accordingly and treat them with respect and dignity. I am really struggling to put this into words, I hope it somewhat makes sense??
closing words because my brain is scrambly and Selkie also wants to add something: wearing another animal's pelt is bad, always. for all the reasons you listed and just, yeah. owning taxidermy in general? in my opinion, in some cases it is compatible with moral veganism - and I don't say this to defend my own decision of keeping my skulls. the way I think about them was always how I stated above. there are things which I kind of regret doing or buying in hindsight (for example, I found a dead bird once. I left it in the forest until it had almost fully decomposed and then came back to collect what remained. would I do something like that again? no, letting it stay there would have been better. but now he exists in my apartment, unforgotten and cherished, as an individual and I think that is okay). respect is kind of a personal thing, you know? I think that's what most important for both of us, respecting the animal as who it was and for you, burying the remains might feel most respectful and for me it doesn't and I think that's both fine. it seems we do agree in the most important aspects ^^
Addition from Selkie:
Hi there, I'm Selkie. For a little context, I'm pretty much the spirituality holder of the system, read: the only one who really has a somewhat established connection and any belief at all (well, there are like two others who hold spiritual beliefs too, but they are much more undefined). I know the following part is entirely subjective and just based on my experiences and I can't prove if they are true or not, but to me, the... you know, vibes, auras, however you wanna call it, I get from our skulls are positive, warm, and safe. Especially Erika, when I reach out to her presence (I am not sure if it is really her spirit, or more an echo of her?), it feels warm, yellow and smells faintly like dandelions. If there are remaining spirits or echoes of the animals souls in this apartment, attached to the skulls, they feel happy to me. If I had more time at front, I would have focused on working with them for a long time now, but well, it is pretty rare I get out. I know this isn't just wishful thinking because from the fox skull we own, I can also feel pain and fear - that lingers in the past, I think he was hit by a car (his skull is partly broken) but the... current energy feels much more relaxed again. As I said, I'm pretty much the only one here who beliefs in things like this, but it does reassure me (and to some extent also my sysmates) that nobody here feels distressed or sad.
Yeah, it's up to you to believe me on this or not and either is totally fine and understandable, but I just wanted to add this here, it felt fitting :)

I have a sincere and genuine question (one which you are free to ignore)
But I wanted to ask about why you’re pro endogenic/willogenic/nontraumagenic etc.?
I dont ask to stir controversy, but rather because i think I want to understand more about it all and am reaching out to see others experiences in why they believe/see the world how they do
In my early exposure to/learning about systemhood I was taught a lot by those who don’t really like/believe the nontraumagenic claims. As I see more and more of the community and its variations- I find myself more unsure about what is or isn’t true. I ask here instead of consulting the internet because finding clear research on the topic has been increasingly difficult for me and I find I’m not sure exactly where or how to look
Obviously you are probably not the information god of this subject, but i guess I’m looking mostly for your outlook/view on things to just really hear from others in the community on a subject I’m struggling with
hey anon. the biggest reason i’m pro-endo is because i’m part of a mixed origins system. but, i see that that probably isn’t a satisfactory answer to most people wanting to learn more hahaha
the second biggest reason is, well, i am not anyone else nor am i in their brain, so i cannot tell if someone is telling the truth about their experiences or not. therefore, i have to take what people say at face value. if they say they’re a system, i have no right to tell them no, they’re not. that right only belongs to them, and to some extent their psychiatrist/psychologist/therapist.
another reason: the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. just because there is little research into endogenic systems doesnt mean they’re not real. there’s not much undeniable evidence of aliens yet people still believe that they exist. why? because like the human brain, the universe is infinitely complex and we just don’t have the time, money or equipment to study every single aspect of it, especially if those aspects don’t pose an immediate threat on us as humans. endogenic systems themselves aren’t being hurt by their plurality, unlike with did/osdd systems who face severe symptoms with their disorder. in a medical perspective, there’s not much point researching something that isn’t harmful. did and osdd need research so that the systems with those disorders can actually function. endogenic systems with disorders, if they have them, usually have disorders that are already being researched all the time, such as autism, adhd, ocd, bpd, (c)ptsd, etc. so there are already people trained in dealing with those disorders that can help endogenic systems with them, as they would help anyone with them.
however, in saying all that, there actually IS research on endogenic systems, just not as much perhaps as disordered systems. i’ve found some research papers that i like and think are unbiased and fair, so i’m going to make a google doc with links to them, or to where you can download them, and that will be at the bottom of this post. i do think these papers do a lot of help for the endogenic community, especially against sysmedicalists and anti-endos who rely solely on medical evidence and research in order to believe in something (which i absolutely disagree with, i believe we should take what people say about their identity and just believe it without needing ten medical papers to back it up).
i hope this brings a little clarity to my stance on endogenic plurality, and obviously this is just my stance. there are many other systems out there who have different and perhaps better reasons for believing in endogenic plurality. if you’re on reddit at all, i highly highly encourage you to go to r/plural and have a look around there. the people there are so lovely and many of them would love to give you even more resources.
anyway, i hope you have a great day anon, and i hope you find the answers you want about endogenic plurality!

is blog is anti exploitation
this blog is anti establishment
the rejection and abolishment of pornography as a concept instead of the exploitative industry is a gross misunderstanding of human sexuality.
get the fuck out of here if you believe that sexual fantasy and consensual acts of such harm real life survivors of any kind of abuse. not only do kinks and fetishes not directly reflect your morals, but sexuality is not inherently logical and is clearly influenced by social taboos and expectations. many survivors, such as myself, deserve to express and outwardly reflect our real lived experiences without scrutiny. an abuser is gonna abuse, no matter if they happen to watch porn depicting such acts or not.
i dont care if you dont understand why someone would re-live or even think of certain sexual acts, that is none of your business and unique to the individual.
is it hurting real life people? physically? no? then who cares. feelings do not count. if seeing this material is making you mentally unwell, it is your own responsibility to quit interacting.
are they hurting themselves with it? you can't know that. you are not entitled to their therapist sessions, nor their medical record, nor their trauma in detail. you are not a psychologist, you are not a sexologist, you are not an expert on the human psyche.
we are not perfect beings. nature is complicated. there is real harm to be turning your eyes to, such as the loneliness of the youth and how the industry grabs their attention with the promise of feeling better, of getting laid if you act a certain way.
we are constantly fed contradictory information. be pure, be a virgin, stay single, but get laid, be experienced, dont be boring.
lets focus on that instead of demonizing the reality that humans are gonna have sex. we are animals. we are weird. we are gonna be having sex crazy style. we dont even have the instinct of sex for reproduction anymore, do you even understand how much that changes our psyche when it comes to sexual relations? i mean damn, look at dolphins, look at the rest of the animal kingdom in general tbh
anyway! i love porn as a means of distribution of sexual expression! people are gonna watch people have sex! digital or not! what do you think they did before phub!
