it’s actually quite easy to take over a small local government group if you really want to, bc if you volunteer consistently people will just put you in charge of whatever. I’m now one of like three people at a nature preserve making official decisions about trails, events, putting in a prairie, and designing a series of illustrations for a storybook trail etc., and it’s just because last summer I started coming over once a week to help the naturalist out for a couple hours. Mine now. you too can steal an organization and shape it to your will 🫵

Hot take: I don't like yandere varka (no dirt to any writers, this is not to someone in specific) because that just defeats varka's charm. The whole point of how charming he is is that he is this strong big guy that if he wanted to he could just get everything he wants by force, YET he doesn't. He is considerate, emphatic and even if hia appareance is so intimidating you just can't help but thrust him completely because there's no secret reason behind his behaviour, making him yandere and toxic kinda just takes away the flavour

If you’re writing anything besides smut or angst, you’re probably scrambling for a crumb of interaction. I see posts of people complaining about the over-saturation of smut and unhappy endings in fandoms almost every day. Yet, smut seems to get a lot of engagement (I wrote a fic about morning head and it garnered more attention in a matter of days than anything I’ve shared here) despite the posts rejecting it.

This is not a dig at anyone who writes the above—I write both religiously, sometimes together in the same story. However, we don’t get to complain about the lack of something if we’re not supporting it. Many talented writers here give us exactly what we want (fluff, comedy, romance, horror), but some switch gears or leave altogether because they feel their efforts are for naught. And not everyone wants to write sad porn all the time.

I am once again imploring you to support your favorite writers, reblog your favorite stories, and maybe drop a comment now and again. People aren’t mind readers, and they haven’t a clue how much you enjoy their one obscure story unless you tell/show them.

I understand that many people enjoy smut and angst, I am no different.

But the fics that branch away are just as good. Alternate universe worlds, fluff, backstories, they’re all wonderful once you give them a chance.

These writers work so hard and fast to produce so much content for free. The only real thing they get in return is our support by interacting with them. Even if it’s not your favorite work you’ve ever read, that does not mean it’s not a good work.

Interact anyways. It costs you nothing. It means everything to those who write. Make someone’s day.
