Just started 9-1-1 and I’m now at episode 3. What the fuck is this show? Why are there seasons 8 style episode in the first season. There is already so much drama.

“We chose the term “asexual” to describe ourselves because both “celibate” and “anti-sexual” have connotations we wished to avoid: the first implies that one has sacrificed sexuality for some higher good, the second that sexuality is degrading or somehow inherently bad. “Asexual”, as we use it, does not mean “without sex” but “relating sexually to no one”. This does not, of course, exclude masturbation but implies that if one has sexual feelings they do not require another person for their expression. Asexuality is, simply, self-contained sexuality.”
— The Asexual Manifesto, Lisa Orlando and Barbara Getz, 1972
Note the date, people:
That’s 1972
29 years before AVEN was started online,
and 47 years before the present.
And that’s only the date that Manifesto was written, so asexuals as members of a community must have existed at least some time before that.
So, no: we are not just Tumblr trenders. Get out of here with that.
supporting my asexual friends and foes by rebbloging this
It’s 50 years this month since the first version of the Asexual Manifesto was written. Aces have been writing about our experiences under this name for at least half a century. We are not an internet fad.
Grace being aroace is so important to me. Especially during that scene where it’s stated that Grace is not married, doesn’t have kids and doesn’t even own a dog. It goes to show how incredibly excluded and expendable we as aroace people are seen in the eyes of society. Grace is a teacher, he’s actively assisting the future generation but yet that isn’t seen as nearly as important as conforming to societal norms.
I love this post especially the rat part
going on me feed
what do you mean there are exactly zero rats i. this post
DOES IT NOT STOP
It’s that serious
“project hail mary (2026) using an orange-yellow-blue color palette in the majority of its lighting, set design, and wardrobe (except for the detour to the green planet with a purple aurora) is an intentional choice potentially based on the colors of the aroace (and aro and ace) flag(s) which may have been made in part because someone on the production staff realized that a story about a guy whose life is considered lesser explicitly because his relationships do not follow an amatonormative hierarchy, structured specifically to show that it is NOT romance which brings out the best in him but the love of/for a friend who similarly forgoes amatonormative expectations, and who is shown to be happy and fulfilled at the end for that very reason might be extremely resonant with aroaces” is a sentence which makes you sound like an insane person until you realize that project hail mary (2026) is a lord & miller production and those are the same guys who did this
i don’t think a lot of people understand how important it is to me that Ryland Grace, the main character from a popular book and movie, being commonly headcanoned as aroace with little to no romance involved. his relation to rocky as a companion and best friend is the relationship that people talk about the most. the power of friendship saved the day with no unnecessary b-plot romance. local man loved humanity and his alien best friend so much he saved both of their galaxies and planets. that’s so awesome, sometimes i’d never thought i’d see something like this
A lifetime of waiting for us to meet
so grace is probably alarming to most eridians at first because he's a lanky wet alien with too few limbs, yes--but what if he ends up being terrifying in a sort of divine way instead of a repulsive one?
like. a creature that perceives the intangible? a creature that walks with thin permeable membranes bared to the air, whose blood contains elixir that can destroy pathogens without heat? a creature that is impossibly fragile yet resilient? a creature that breathes potently flammable gas to survive? a creature that is loud all over and speaks in a strange and frightening monotone, who thought it would die for you? who gave up its home in the heavens for you without meeting you first, whose first words to your people were probably something along the lines of We saved your star. It's gonna be okay. Don't be afraid.
Yours has better makeup than mine, but have you considered using the one hair set?
He looks much better with this hairstyle
Thanks for the advice
My headcanon is that, when Rocky asked Ryland a word for “to risk self to help another” and Ryland responded with dumb, the reason he then just says “Grace…” it’s because Ryland had actually already explained to him the meaning of the world dumb a few days earlier after Grace called himself dumb for doing some basic math error.
Ryland had forgotten this but Rocky has a perfect memory and the word hit him hard. That’s why he gets silent: he doesn’t know how to put into known words all of what he wants to say in that moment. So he just stares at Ryland.
I thought project Hail Mary had already taken over my life, but now that I have discover coltland twin au (and also watched the fall guy) I can’t think about anything else
i think if he were to learn anything about the aroace label it would be through his students
rocky: im not a scientist, im like the least qualified person on this ship, the only reason i survived while the actual scientists died was pure dumb luck :(
ryland grace's internal monologue like every five seconds: oh my god this guy is like a supergenius, he's literally the best engineer i've ever seen, there's no way every other eridian is this smart, like do you even KNOW how cool you are-
meanwhile grace is like: im a coward, im selfish, i put myself over the entire world, im not brave
and rockys like: grace is the bravest person ive ever met. he is brave and selfless in ways he cannot see yet and if he will not tell himself that then i will say it for him
Grace rocky save stars 👎
Knowing that trans women of color started the movement in the united states and were literally immediately erased and excluded from what they started is the most deeply jading knowledge.
It is the original sin of the so-called queer community and it damns it from the cradle.

Without Stonewall, without the efforts of Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, the LGBTQ Community wouldn’t be where it is today. Don’t forget the roots, don’t forget the catalyst.
and then TERFs wanna be like, “hmm well the LGBT community existed before Stonewall!”
but like…Becky, of course LGBTQ+ people existed before Stonewall. We’ve all existed since the beginning of time. But the movement got a shock to its senses, a jump-start, a rocket-into-space when that glass shattered via Marsha P. Johnson, and when Sylvia Rivera was up on-stage protesting guess who was on the sidelines heckling her?
The same fuckers who won’t ever reblog or acknowledge this
My apologies to the original poster as I photo captured this post to add to the thread-I reposted this last year for pride and expect to repost it every year I have left-it’s our history people.
Marsha P. Johnson allegedly died of suicide in 1992, and her death was never investigated. Even I, a mere prole, could catch the “she was murdered” vibes from the circumstances surrounding the discovery of her body.
Without a trans black woman, LGBT+ rights would not exist. Never forget. Never “pay it no mind”.
R E M E M B E R
And whatever you do, don’t watch that awful movie Stonewall. Go watch a documentary on Marsha P. Johnson instead.
there’s a wonderful documentary on netflix called the death and life of marsha p. johnson! very powerful watch.
every white person ever should reblog this
