Welcome to ace recommendations, where I will recommend pieces of media that i have read/watched that either is about being asexual, has an asexual character in it, or is created by someone who is asexual.
Today's recommendation is Post Harbor, a fantasy webcomic created by Shwurdart (Loo).
Post Harbor follows Atlas, a 14 year old boy who spends the summer in a beach town. Things aren't exactly normal at the beach, however, and it seems that nobody else notices these strange occurrences. That is, until Atlas meets some other kids his age who notice these weird things, too. As the summer goes on, the group works together to overcome the obstacles the beach throws at them, as well as learn how to rely on each other.
There are two acespec characters confirmed in this webcomic. The first one is the main character, Atlas. Atlas is asexual. He's the one to bring the group together and always looks out for his friends. The second character is River, a 15 year old girl. River is demisexual. She is kind, adventurous, and strives to be more independent now that she's older.

Today's recommendation is Friends With Benefits, a slice of life/comedy webcomic by Nezkovsou, an asexual comic creator.
Friends with benefits follows Eri as they navigate the dating world, trying to form a meaningful relationship, but always having difficulties because of his identity. He ends up making a ton of friends in this comic, who all go on wacky adventures to try and help Eri get with the barista he likes.
There are a lot of lgbtq+ characters in this comic. And a few ace ones too.
The main character Eri is genderfluid, and panromantic asexual. He works as a graphic designer. He's kind, outgoing, and anxious.
Tae Min is another major character in the comic. He is questioning demisexual and demiromantic. He currently works as a barista but aspires to be a veterinarian. He is kind, intelligent when it comes to academics, but a bit dumb when it comes to feelings.
Rohan Sarkar is an asexual, aromantic trans man. He has a love for sports, especially boxing. He is protective of his friends, often ready to fight someone for them.
Here's a few content warnings: queerphobia, creepy men who don't respect boundaries (Eri always gets away from these men, so it can be uncomfortable, but it doesn't go that far.)
This webcomic can be found on Webtoon. While it is completed, there is a sequel that is currently out called Friends with Solitude, which hosts a new asexual main character.

Hi Shadow. New to the blog. For a while I've known that I'm ace spectrum, and thanks to some of your posts I think I might be aegosexual. However, it still doesn't fit me perfectly. My experience is somewhere between aego and demisexual. Meaning, I still occasionally like to participate in sexual activities sometimes, but only with someone I have an actual connection with. I was just wondering if there's a word for that? I really feel mostly aego but I figure I'm not really because I still like it sometimes. Idk, sorry for the kind of rant. I don't think there's a single word to describe your experiences, but I do believe that you could be both demisexual and aegosexual. Labels don't have to fit 100% for you to identify with them, so If you fell mostly aego, but also only have attraction to someone if you're close to them, then yeah, you can definitely identify as both!
I wanted to recommend the Not Even Bones series for your list of books with ace rep. The main characters start out kissing a few times at first, but then they realize they’re kissing because that’s what they’ve been taught that romantic relationships are supposed to involve kissing and that neither of them is interested in sex. After that their relationship settles into more of a qpr.
I heard a lot of good things about this webcomic! Definitely have to look into it soon, I think it's great that it represents a qpr!

Here's another recommendation I got! I stopped reading leisurely for awhile but I'm starting to get back into it. Excited to look into this series.

Have you ever heard of Octopunk Media? Michelle Iannantuono is a queer ace writer and director, and all her films (and her one novel so far) have tons of LGBTQIA+ characters. Her spouse Austin Byttes, also ace, composes all the soundtracks and co-wrote Seven Deadly Synths.
Her Detroit:Become Human fan films (Detroit:Evolution and Detroit:ReAwakening) in particular center on a gay asexual character, and no one has a problem with that part of him.
Seven Deadly Synths actually says the word asexual in regards to the respective character. There is quite a lot of queerness in the 13 minute short; hopefully they'll be able to make it into a feature film someday.

Welcome to ace recommendations, where I will recommend pieces of media that i have read/watched that either is about being asexual, has an asexual character in it, or is created by someone who is asexual.
Today's recommendation is Castle Swimmer, a webcomic created by Wendy Lian Martin.
Castle Swimmer follows the journeys of two mermen, Kappa, who is based off of a koi fish, and Siren who is based off of a shark. Kappa's only purpose in life is to fulfill prophecies for merpeople and other sea creatures. Siren's purpose is to break the curse that has killed and injured many of his people. The two meet when Kappa is imprisoned in order to help Siren to fulfill the prophecy to break the curse. However, the two become friends (then lovers) and decide to help each other to find a new purpose in life and to find another way to break the curse. They split up after some mishaps, but soon come together to continue their journey.
There is one currently confirmed asexual character in the webcomic, Queen Nethimer. She is an evil witch based off of an octopus and is AroAce. Neth may come off as cold and distant to strangers, but in reality, she really cares for her friends and family and does her best to protect them. She is selfless and brave. She states that she is not into guys or girls in the webcomic. It has also been confirmed by the creator here on Tumblr.

Majority of people on the aspec are aware of favorable, indifferent, etc. when talking about personal stances toward romance/sex. But what about ambivalent? I don’t see people mentioning nearly as much. Romance/sex ambivalent should be more recognized. I’ll give a brief explanation for those who don’t know what it is.
I’m sex-ambivalent so we’ll go with that, but obviously the same stuff applies to romance ambivalent.
Sex-ambivalent is a personal stance on sex. Your feelings toward romance/sex may fluctuate and me unclear. (Everything I say can be applied to romance-ambivalent as well with some obvious tweaking). Your personal stance could range from indifferent to repulsed, favorable to repulsed, indifferent to repulsed, whatever. Personally, I fall anywhere from indifferent to repulsed.
How we feel may vary depending on mood or what types of acts are being performed.For some they may be more comfortable when it’s with fictional characters. The point is, it depends on many other variables and can range wildly. I may occasionally read erotic fanfiction and enjoy it, but I can’t even stand the thought of actual p*rn. While I do enjoy certain types of fanfiction, it only enjoy it when certain types of acts are performed. Usually I just like a passionate make-out that gets a bit heated. Maybe some stuff that gets more suggestive too. But anything that involves actual more intimate parts on top or bottom gets an immediate “Nope” for me.
All of this to say, some people feelings on romance/sex are very complicated. Because of this romance/sex ambivalence needs to be mentioned more, in my opinion and should be more well known.

The internet can suck at times but overall it's a pretty great tool. There's so much to learn about asexuality and topics relating to it that many of us probably wouldn't learn without the internet. I love that I, and many others, have the opportunity to learn about a community we're a part of :)
