Title sums up my situation. So this is me. I mostly reblog multiple fandom's content and sometimes forget to put spoiler tags when I do so you've been warned.
Danny got de-aged some how but still has his ghostly ability. He is on the watchtower causing chaos obviously. The thing is there are so many black haired and blue eyed people that are part of the justice league so everyone assumes that he’s someone’s child or a relative that they’re babysitting.
Superman sees him is like I didn’t know Bruce got another kid.
Wonder Woman sees him and just like aww he looks like Clark.
Batman is trying to figure out if he is a grandfather or not.
Zatanna knows it’s some type of magic issue happening but still can’t figure out if someone got de-aged or a baby was magically born.
The Flash thinks it’s a timeline issue and is slightly freaking out.
Martian Manhunter knows that it’s phantom but thinks it’s funny so he says nothing.
Then baby phantom goes ghost and just phases into space.
Danny has gotten very good at getting into and exploring the internet. Not only from having to follow Technus through it, but also because it was fun!
So it shouldn't have been a surprise that when the time came when he had to escape Amity Park for good, he did it through the web. He had never gone outside the city's servers before, so he did get a bit lost, but soon he was exploring all around the world.
He knew he had to get out of the web eventually, but the persecution had left him a little traumatized. It was safe in there, and he was healing well, or at least his pixelated body seemed okay. And okay, maybe online food was a little tasteless and numbed his tongue, but it was keeping him fed, so who cared.
Through his exploration, he's found something strange though. It doesn't matter which server he jumps to, he always sees traces of the same digital signature. If he wasn't literally within the internet, he wouldn't have noticed, but it becomes easier to identify the more he sees it. So he eventually decides to follow.
That's how Danny ends up in Oracle's computer, and there was SO much to explore here.
---
Something has gotten into her system. She hasn't told anyone yet. There's a big stakeout going on, and the bats and birds can't risk getting distracted, but it is driving her crazy.
She's been using her laptop for her Oracle activities to decrease the risk of the thing getting any information on current patrols, but she hasn't been able to lock it out of the data stored on her main computer or erase enough information to keep it away from anything sensitive.
It has been beyond stressful doing everything on a simple laptop after years of using her constantly upgraded setup.
Oracle can't even identify what it is. It isn't behaving like a virus or spyware, but more importantly, she can't get rid of it. It keeps avoiding all her attempts... almost as if it were alive.
After another frustrated night guiding the vigilantes of Gotham with her laptop, she decides to try and communicate with whatever did this. She creates an open chat.
She doesn't think it will actually get any results, but soon she's getting a text."Your computer is crazy!" accompanied by an anime-like emoticon of a pale boy with green eyes and white hair blinking.
---
Or: From what I've seen, Oracle is carrying a crazy amount of work, and I think she deserves a little helper.
Clippy!Danny isn't dissuading the rumors that Oracle is a sapient AI or some kind of supernatural seer-technopath-nonhuman-something.
Just as he found Babs via those subtle hidden traces of Oracles Network Everywhere, her setup and network now also have inescapable Vibes and traces of Being Haunted. Maybe not strongly anywhere but the Mains, yet, but if he starts helping enough?
Yeah, O already vibes the creepy green glow effect On Purpose when taking over other systems (like the Watchtower) and talking to people over them, he fits right in. Lean into the Vibes, Danno. Pick a suitable related Theme/Title to use with Strangers, even if you are Just Lil Danny Phantom to Babs herself. Something spooky but Flavored to match her.
Oracle knows all and sees all and can control a LOT if she feels like it. (Not even a confirmed She to almost anyone who doesn't know her face to face even under masks. Robot Voice.) What kind of lil messenger or assistant would suit them? Hm...
I vote Tiresias, the dead prophet in greek mythology who helps Odysseus in the underworld. If he would actually listen lol.
Danny has worked with Clockwork, he absolutely has the undead offhand comments and suggestions that the Bats will find backfiring if they ignoring them. Between Clockwork and Oracle he is a lot better at not rushing in, but also doubled down on being a little shit.
During one point when a Bat is in mortal peril he just uses the com link as a endgate to save them.
something something extremely sexy when magic users resort to physical violence. yeah i have the power of god and anime on my side but i also have THESE HANDS. i cast Punch You In The Face. i take my magic staff through which i channel the vast energies of the elements and the cosmos and i cast Severe Concussion And Skull Fracture. casting time for xenoglossy too long, chose the quicker route of Stab You In The Throat.
This is inspired by a post where the Fentons, including Danny and Jazz, get arrested by the Justice League. The Doctors Fenton are sent to prison. Danny was placed in a League run foster/youth detention center as a youth at risk of becoming a villain, and Jasmine was completely cut off from him as a potential risky influence.
If you recognize the prompt, please send it btw.
In one of the Reblogs they mentioned Waller recruiting the Doctors so....
"We've lost contact with the Youth Probation facilities. A Type 3 System lock down was signaled before communications went dark."
Bruce watches the way Tim subtlty shifts his weight, a repressed show of worry that has Bruce's stomach clutching before he even opens his mouth. "Nightwing entered the facilities approximately 15 minutes before the lock down triggered. Back up comms have been completely cu-"
Screens flicker to life, Oracle cursing in the comms. Nightwing has been suspended in the omega grade super interrogation restraints. Multiple guard bots are stationed around the cell. Daniel Fenton, recent addition to the facility, steps into frame.
"Approximately 3 weeks after Doctors Jack and Madeline Fenton were placed in New York State's maximum security penitentiary, paperwork was filed indicating their transfer to an non existent facility.
The Director of Project X, Amanda Waller constripted them.
You will get my parents out of Waller's clutches safely. You will have proof that they will be safe from Waller or anyone who would exploit them.
If I lose my parents, you lose your son."
The feed cuts before anyone can respond. Oracle clears her throat. "B, a large file attachment was sent to multiple reporters and leak sites from the facility. What's the plan?"
Danny stares at the blank screen, focusing on the pulsing power of the facilities computer in a vain attempt to suppress his anxiety induced nausea. He stumbles over to the trash and heaves bile from his empty stomach.
Nightwing makes a face behind the gag like he wants to say something but Danny turns away, a pulse of ghostly control through the computers ensuring that the vaunted oracle and cyborb will be locked out until Danny lets them in.
It had been surprisingly easy to figure out how to connect to the computers while human. Danny had always been adaptable.
The internet was on fire with the secret documents Danny had stolen and distributed. All of Waller's dirty laundry was exposed. She might not get punished. But she would be a pariah for the rest of her life.
Dick accepts the carefully offered water from the teen, studying the bags under his eyes. As the water is pulled away, "The League was wrong, weren't they? You weren't working for your parents...Phantom was spotted with Fenton Tech on several occasions. You were sabotaging your parents work and stealing useful tech for Phantom."
The kid looked at him with a hint of exasperation breaking through, "That doesn't matter much anymore now does it? I'm holding Nightwing hostage. Previous innocence or not, I'm a villain now."
Fenton spins around, eyes narrowed, handing off the plate of food and stalking out.
Dick calls out fruitlessly, trying to get Fenton's attention. The bot offers a bite sized piece of sandwich, letting out a whirring noise that almost sounds questioning.
By the time he's finished his food and water, about to get regagged, a frazzled looking Fenton leads a group of bots carrying two bodies into the cell across from him.
Wally is encased from feet to mouth in some sort of flexible silver shell, twitching from the aftershocks of whatever defense mechanism he was trapped by. Fenton directs the bots to suspend the unconscious speedster in the appropriate restraints.
Garfield is locked down in a full meta suppressor set, being restrained in another cell.
Fenton looks his way, worry and anger sparking in his eyes, and stalks out of the cell block without a word.
I really want someone to go the full avoidance route - not out of some misplaced anger, but because Danny doesn’t know that Batman isn’t there to arrest him.
…
Batman stood on the roof, observing the fight. It wasn’t the first battle he’d observed for this being, wasn’t even the most interesting, but any data was good to collect.
From what he’d been able to gather, in the past two years the ghost fights had toned down a lot. At the beginning, they’d wreck the portion of town Phantom and the Rogue of the Day found themselves fighting in, and Phantom would guiltily offer his assistance to fix what was broken. The townspeople hadn’t reacted… well to the first few offers of help, they’d admitted rather easily, and Phantom stopped offering. During the much larger fights that Bruce would classify as worthy of Justice League intervention, Phantom would help without asking - which had likely gone a long way in improving his personal image, even if the townsfolk seemed generally negative towards “ghosts” as a race. Nowadays, the ghost fights weren’t what caused damage to the town. It was the ghost hunters.
Another note to be made was that Phantom had, according to what little footage Oracle could find, been terrified of the other ghosts towards the beginning. He hid it well, behind bravado and quips that made Bruce’s former Robins grin in amusement, but he was clearly out of his depth. Bruce had two running theories on the why - he’d either been a recluse, avoiding other ghosts before the Fenton’s portal opened (which was its own mess of a situation), or he was a new ghost, from shortly before or after the portal opened - but wouldn’t be able to lean one direction or another without a conversation with Phantom.
Which was the main problem Bruce was running into in this situation.
Generally, unless the targeted person was a criminal and not too keen on the idea of being arrested, Batman’s uniform was enough to elicit attention. Typically, when he was the one to go out scouting, the non-JLA-affiliated vigilante or wannabe hero would approach him upon seeing his caped figure. Oftentimes, all Bruce had to do was stand on a visible roof and let the town or city’s local protector(s) approach him.
Phantom captured the ghost who’d been tearing through town on his motorcycle and turned just enough that he caught sight of Batman - and, just like every time before, the ghost’s head snapped up, green eyes boring into Bruce’s mask, before Phantom disappeared from view. Changing his lenses to heat detection showed the ghost staring at him for a few moments longer before diving into the ground as the Fenton’s tank came flying down the road.
Bruce held back a sigh. He does have other objectives in Amity Park, including the meeting the Fenton’s were going to be late for here in an hour. He’ll keep attempting contact with Phantom, even being a little more proactive in forcing the conversation, but for now it was a lost cause.
We deserve homeless, Danny, who’s taking over the conservatory in Gotham
Like the old conservatory that’s in the heart of crime Alley, but no one really messes around with because of so many construction problems
And then Danny comes along in his obsession spark in a little bit of this and a little bit of that and it’s considerably less dangerous and very function
Q Danny starting it up, but only the people of crime Alley are the very poor ever come
Yada yada queue, his other obsession, kicking in and out of nowhere conservatory is now the safest place to be during a rogue attack or a gang fight or a natural disaster or literally anything
me holding a gun to a mushroom: tell me the name of god you fungal piece of shit
mushroom: can you feel your heart burning? can you feel the struggle within? the fear within me is beyond anything your soul can make. you cannot kill me in a way that matters
me cocking the gun, tears streaming down my face: I’M NOT FUCKING SCARED OF YOU
Clarification: I don’t hate this book, I love it, it’s amazing. It’s just that taking a step back and looking it out of context is still really funny. Especially the line “We participated in a genocide, Barney.”
Bedrock is having a mayoral election. One of the candidates is a violent war mongering asshole that riles people up against the lizard people. This reminds Fred and Barney of their time in the army.
Back then the father of said violent candidate was riling people up against the “tree people”. Fred, Barney, and other soldiers fought what they believed to be a defensive measure against the tree people. Turns out, it was actually an invasion, in order to kill off the tree people and take over their forest to build Bedrock.
That’s what Fred means when he says he and Barney participated in a genocide. They literally did.
(Extra fun fact, Barney adopted a tree person baby after the war, and his son Bamm-Bamm is the last tree person.)
I keep thinking about the fact that Eridians seem so much stronger and sturdier than humans, so what humans-are-space-orcs thing could Grace even do that would freak Rocky out... and then I remembered humans are persistence predators.
So picture some years in the future when the xenonite suits are so safe that Grace's class can now take field trips into his biodome. Rocky's there because this is a big moment for everyone involved and also he just loves listening to Grace in his element. One of the more mischievous kids tries to sneak off from the group and there are plenty of chaperones but Grace is the first to notice.
His posture changes, goes focused but loose in a way Rocky's never seen before as he peels of from the crowd. Rocky just stands there, stunned, as he watches his sweet, gangly, goofy, clumsy blob of a friend turn into a hunter. Grace circles around the pebble, slightly crouched, head turned and honed in, arms loose to the sides, and maybe the little one notices and does that nervously excited giggle-squeal thing kids do when they're being chased and tries to get away, but Grace expertly corrals them. He doesn't even have to run for it, he just pens the kid in, lunges-
And takes the little pebble by the claw to lead them safely back to their peers. And just like that he's Grace again, smiling and joking and tripping over his improvised shoelaces. Rocky hasn't been scared of Grace since first contact. Have you seen the guy? ... but for a second there his instincts were telling him to run.
And what if Eldritch creatures just need more rest than everyone else?
It takes a lot of energy reshuffling realities and shaping the cosmos.
So what if Danny, King of the In-between, literally one of the strongest Eldritch beings in existence, and also a literal infant in among ancients was just, so tired all the time?
Like sure could he stay awake for a month straight if you let him? Absolutely. But he'd need to go into a coma to recover depending on what he was doing. I mean like fully sleep for the next 5 months MINIMUM if he was using his powers that whole time.
I imagine Clockwork getting badgered by the other ancients (who like Danny) to time out sometimes and let him sleep for a century or two. Maybe that's the real reason he grows up like everyone else, he ages so much slower but no one notices cause he has cosmic naptimes, not even him.
Alternatively, what if he does know?
What if he just starts being fully honest and anytime he's tired just goes "I just need to rest my eyes for like...30 years." And everyone thinks he's just being dramatic.
What if he forgets to ask Clockwork or something and wakes up in a medical ward as a coma patient when he missed rent one to many times and his landlord found him unresponsive.
In my mind this is bad timeline or adopted by BatFam, but what if he had a special haunt to retreat to sleep and various cultures had stories about The Sleeping Child of snow white hair and stars rippling across his skin with each breath, the picture of eternal youth. A bubble of time surrounding him where everything that enters ages into nothing in seconds (as Ra's learned the hard way having lost an arm and far too many men to it in the past)
JL eventually gets wind of this and JLD go to inspect only to realize the stories got just one thing wrong.
AU where Danny is in a serious relationship with someone, and they've had the marriage talks but Danny hadn't proposed yet, but he's planning it.
Except
His significant other wants to beat him to the punch, so they go and make contact with some Gotham folks who can get THEM in contact with people willing to use a specific ritual to sacrifice them to The Ghost King (Danny) as a bride.
Cue the Bats, having heard of whispers of this new cult who rose up trying to give a "bridal" sacrifice and doing their thing to swing in and stop it. Only the "sacrifice" is mildly panicking yelling for the cultists to finish it quick.
The ritual works and the "sacrifice" is gone. Bats aren't happy, Cultists are cheering even as the bats ziptie them.
Anyway a few minutes later as the Bats are cleaning up and collecting evidence and the ritual circle lights up again and suddenly the sacrifice is back with a Eldritch-adjacent being with a crown next to them that is basically RADIATING with happiness and embarrassment in equal measure. The sacrifice looks at the cultists and just goes, "He said yes!!!" The cultists cheer.
Meanwhile Danny, Ghost King and mildly Eldritch fiance, is talking with the bats and getting all the cultists freed and falling all over himself apologizing for the trouble, really, but it was all consensual and nobody got hurt and his partner really does have a flair for the dramatics don't they? It's very obvious to the Bats that Danny isn't THAT sorry about all of this because of how happy he seems to be to be engaged with said dramatic partner.
Said partner is already talking with the cultists about being in their half of the wedding party. (They've all really bonded during all the work leading up to the actual ritual.)
Suffice to say, Batman is not at ALL thrilled and somewhere in the world John Constantine feels like he's going to have a stroke and doesn't know why.
