I hate the way that social media ruined blogging. I want to deep dive into books and ideas, write about them and post. I want people to see them, maybe some people read the same books, thought about same ideas and so we can share. I want to see people writing about their trips, 3 am overthinks etc. Now you have to make everything into a one minute video, so that you can ,well, actually share.

In 2021, Tumblr is (in my opinion) gays, non-binary people, TSOA and DPS fans, Academic aesthetics lovers and probably just the kid sitting quietly in the back row of class, dead but inside, burnout kids, calssical lovers, probably –sorry– parents disappointment, people who are genuinely interested in art and do it with great pleasure, and amateur writers, poets (many of them really have great potential).

The only acceptable way to read The Secret History is as close to the characters as possible.

Which means you have to be either sleep deprived, drunk, over caffeinated or high while reading it.

Despite the biblical allusions absolutely LITTERED throughout The Secret History, as far as I can tell, the actual devil is brought up only three times throughout the whole book.

Every time, it's in reference to Henry.

The first time is when Richard is talking to that girl at a party and brings up the greek class. She tells him she heard that they "worship the fucking devil." Who's in the greek class? Henry.

The second time is at the lake just before Camilla cuts open her foot. Henry is described as "Satan, listening to the wild ravings of a desert prophet."

The last time is when Mr. Corcoran (?) says "speak of the Devil" in reference to Henry entering a room. This phrase is used no where else in the entire book.

This is coupled with the fact that Donna Tartt went out of her way to have Richard state "the Greeks have no devil." They do. It's Henry.

I would KILL to read TSH from Bunny’s POV. It would make for the perfect Greek tragedy and a killer thriller. Imagine reading his descent into insanity and paranoia. Imagine Italy from his perspective; his secret, almost sinful confessions to Julian; his pillow talks with Marion. I want to feel Henry’s betrayal and Bunny’s unease. I would eat that shit UP
