sooooo let’s break it down then because the fact that tumblr sent this email is mega important

if yall haven’t been living under a rock for the last year and a half, you may have heard that trump won the election. and you may have also heard that trump was helped out by russia in a ton of ways. one of those ways was by the russian troll farm, the internet research agency (IRA). there were 84 accounts on tumblr spreading anti-hillary propaganda and general discontent, mainly targeting POC and “socially aware” youth. some of those accounts were HUGELY influential, “4mysquad” being one of the top ones with tons of followers and popular posts.

a lot of them started with relatively innocent, pro-POC posts to gain a following, before moving on to anti-police, anti-hillary, and general anti-establishment to create distrust in the only major-party candidate against trump. like I said, many of the accounts were hugely influential so their posts spread FAR. all that visibility led to increased voter apathy, meaning less voter turnout and fewer people voting against trump. and tumblr was silent on this after the official indictment of the IRA, until literally just yesterday. 

so to sum up, the email you and a ton of other people got is saying that you were following and sharing posts from russian pro-trump propaganda blogs. i’d ask that you PLEASE reblog this, because it’s super important that everyone who got this email knows why they got it, knows what it means, and hopefully knows what they might be able to do better in the future

I’ve read so many writers sharing how they’ve been receiving nasty ass comments about their work lately – under the guise of “help.”  I touched upon this the other day as well.  THIS post right here is 100% correct.  “IF YOU GIVE A CRITIQUE THAT RESULTS IN THE WRITER FEELING LIKE THEY NEVER WANNA WRITE AGAIN, IT IS YOU WHO HAS FAILED AS A CRITIQUER…”

You have to ask yourself, are you really trying to offer help but did it half-assed, or are you just being a jerk and a full ass?

And to those writers, please don’t delete your work.  It’s valid, it’s a learning process. You are trying, working and growing. It takes a lot of courage to post anything you’ve written or drawn. <3

Honestly beta readers are a gift to fandom. Mine have saved me from making so many obvious mistakes that I couldn’t catch because I’ve been looking at the same fucking words for 16 centuries, and what I’m trying to say is thank you for your hard work, beta readers. My own and everyone else’s, because your entire job are just to make fandom better and I never see anyone say anything outside of author’s notes.

I saw this post by @astropixie about how it’d be nice to review fics on AO3 as you read. A little while back, because I was so in awe of the Clexa fic writers, I made this userscript (can install on Firefox by using Greasemonkey and on Chrome and Opera by using Tampermonkey) so that I could do just that. It doesn’t have the wattpad or soundcloud functionality, it’s just a little thing added on to a page, not something supported by the site itself, but it’s better than nothing.

Hey @azriona, I just realized that I have my laptop at work so I could take screenshots for you! I did this on Chrome (and so Tampermonkey), but it should be similar in idea to Firefox (and Greasemonkey).

First step is to install Tampermonkey/Greasermonkey, which are the extensions which let you run the script that will futz with ao3. So get the extension from the appropriate store. 

Click on the blue + ADD TO CHROME button in the upper right. You’ll get a confirmation box to add the extension.

Click the add extension button. When it’s finished, it will appear as one of your extensions in the upper right, next to your address bar. I’ve got several extensions already installed, but here’s what it looks like all the way to the right. Click on it for this dropdown menu.

Click on + Create a new script… and have the pastebin script ready. Hint on the pastebin site: scroll all the way to the bottom and look for RAW Paste Data. Copy everything in the little convenient box below that and paste it into the Tampermonkey editor. (You can delete what’s in there by default.) It will look like this:

Click on the little Save/floppy disc icon (above Search) and you are good to go. Go back into ao3 and you should see some new features, like Floaty Review Box and a bunch of other things in original screenshots above.

ALSO. With Firefox’s newest update, Greasemonkey is going through major reworking, but I’ve just tested on Tampermonkey and it works on Firefox no problem.
