These animals should be loved, not skinned alive. Some of these dogs are pets that have been stolen from their families. Animal lovers, please sign the petition and help fight the dog meat trade in Vietnam. Thank you for your compassion. xx

For his collection I Traveled the Seven Seas and I’m Still Alive, photographer Alessandro Puccinelli captured images of garbage taken from the ocean. Puccinelli says of the project, “I wanted to idealize the objects found on the beach, pointing attention to the fact that after being in between storms, waves, and hot sun, these objects are still there.” The photos are an example of how, despite many trials and tribulations, resiliency allows us to remain intact.
Happy Holi and Happy St. Paddy's Day to all those celebrating today =) May everyone's lives be colored with love and blessed with the luck of the Irish. "May you have all the happiness and luck that life can hold— And at the end of all your rainbows may you find a pot of gold. May your pockets be heavy— Your heart be light, And may good luck pursue you Each morning and night." - Traditional Irish Toasts
Who knew the boyfriend had Green-potential all along?!!! Thinking green is the first step to being green; all we need is a little inspiration!
Join Earth Hour 2014 🌳 Earth Hour is a global initiative to raise awareness for climate change and Earth preservation. It is organized annually by the World Wildlife Fund, and supported here in Dubai by the Emirates Wildlife Society. Please support the cause by switching off your electricity between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm, on Saturday, the 29th of March, 2014. Also consider the ways by which you and your family can make a positive impact on our planet even after Earth Hour. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority encourages you to switch to energy saving light bulbs. While cutting costs and living more economically you are also reducing your carbon footprint - it's a win/win situation - just go for it already!
First of all, this video is not recommended for children as it is extremely raw and is hard to watch even for some adults. Here is your chance to turn back if you believe you are overly-senstive and can not handle it. This video sums up the fur industry in 60 seconds; 60 life altering seconds. I managed to pull through it despite my sensitivity, and let me just say this, it is OUR sensitivity that makes a difference. It is our sensitivity that makes us want to battle this torture, make better choices and tell others to join us. So if you've managed to pull through these 60 seconds, then kudos to you! Awareness is the first step, spreading your newfound awareness is the second. So DO something, SAY NO TO FUR and encourage others to do the same. Show people that they are Paying for "luxurious" fur coats, which were stolen from helpless animals, they are Paying for these animals to be crammed into tiny cages, they are Paying for these animals to be tortured and finally skinned alive; I'm sorry but there is nothing "luxurious" about that!
If this club wasn't already at the top of my list, they would definitely have got there with their new fur-free entry policy! Cheers to you Mahiki and cheers to Mahiki Dubai for following suit!
Thank you Mahiki Dubai for supporting the fight against animal cruelty! This is an awesome example and I hope it creates a sense of awareness amongst not only the club hoppers of Dubai, but all others clubs as well. Kudos to you Mahiki! “Wearing fur involves intolerable cruelty to animals and we at Mahiki Dubai fully support our sister club Mahiki London’s stance on the banning of fur. Mahiki is about celebrating good times and having fun and it’s wonderful that by taking this stance we are in a position to help people to understand, teaching them and creating awareness around the issue.” - Matt Jolley, Brand Director for Mahiki Dubai
This is so twisted and so disappointing! No matter how they spin it, this will be known all over the world as a bill of discrimination, not a bill of religious freedom. It is true our religions may not encourage sexual freedom, however it is not our place to condemn anyone. There will be a day of judgement and until then we should believe in the love that our religion teaches us of. It's unfortunate that we see the negativity in our religions as defining. Why live this way? Here's something religious to live by: "A new command I give you, Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." - John 13:34-35 (NIV)
It's Day 2 of Breast Cancer Awareness month and I'm painting my nails pink (I'm so far from a pink nails kind of girl, oh well!) Have you gone pink yet? What are you planning to do for the cause?
"We Believe Everyone Has Promise"
Profound words from one of my favorite charitable organizations, Pencils of Promise. There are over 60 million children around the world who have no access to education, PoP aims to change that.
Their "Back To School" campaign has generated $259,340 in donations. Their aim is to gather $500,000, which would provide scholarships for 5000 little children across rural Ghana, Laos and Guatemala. This means, so far only half of these 5000 children are getting their chance at an education.
There are various ways by which you can donate, a small amount can go a long way for these children. Please take a look at the web link and help make a change guys, there are only 4 more days till school starts.

The Pink month is quickly approaching once again and for those of you based in Dubai, here's a chance to contribute to Burjuman's "Safe and Sound" initiative! If you run a lovely bakery of your own or if your mouth simply waters for some delectable baked treats, Burjuman is the place to be on October 24th. Check out the link and see you there!
Have heart

"Let's do something amazing together. Let's help keep African youth safe from HIV/AIDS. As a native of South Africa, I have seen the devastation HIV and AIDS have inflicted throughout sub-Saharan Africa. The disease continues to kill millions each year..."
