I think over the years I’ve realized that assuming people you don’t understand are stupid by default is just like a mental shortcut to avoid having to think about why people act the way that they do.

I’ve kind of gotten tired of people doing that I guess. I used to do it, so I get it, but I’ve also figured out that you can learn a lot if you don’t assume by default that people are stupid. Almost everyone is fairly intelligent in some form or another, actually.

modern au (specifically HS/collage) Mechs where Aurora is the only one in the friend group with a driver's license.

reasons for a lack of driver's license: Jonny is uh... Jonny. my man crashed Multiple times while taking the test. Tim did better but he did crash. TS was doing good until it got distracted. Ashes was found smoking just before the test. Raphaella tried to hijack a car to practice. Ivy is technically too young since she skipped a year or two. Marius also got distracted mid drive. Brian just keeps having emergencies (usually the other Mechs getting in trouble) come up when he's supposed to take the test. Nastya is making a conscious choice to not get a license for two reasons, 1. being a passenger princess for Aurora is lowkey hot and 2. she knows that if she ever gets a license the Doc'll make it Her job to drive Jonny places, and she doesn't feel like doing that.
