met a preschooler named anakin at work today. a) that's adorable. b) his drop-off was an elderly british lady (presumably a grandparent?) and did Not seem the type to name her kid after a star wars character. c) if that kid grows up and is generally doing alrigyt i will feel validated naming my hypothetical kids names that should be in lord of the rings
i never know how to phrase this so it doesn't sound like "just stop being scared around wasps lol" but literally Just Stop Being Scared Around Wasps. i mean stop acting scared. you see a wasp and you start making erratic movements and loud noises to chase it off? congrats, you made it worse! don't do it.
and then, when you force yourself to instead act Very Calm and make slooooowww movements, the wasp will not sting you. it might even land on you and walk around a bit and it will not sting you. and it will happen again and again and you're going to feel stupid, like "was i seriously afraid when nothing happened at all?" and you are me. i know this because i did it. Just Stop Being Scared Around Wasps. it's that easy.
Oat milk was discovered much more recently than you may have known. Like many now-familiar technologies, it was found by accident during the Apollo program when NASA learned what a zero-g environment does to goat milk.
pmo so bad when people talk about pleather being more sustainable/environmentally friendly. it's PLASTIC. it doesn't last!! it disintegrates!! it leeches plastic into the oceans and waterways for the year before it falls apart! a proper piece of leather will last so many years if you care for it! stop saying plastic is more sustainable smh
seething about the fact that i will never experience photosynthesis in my own useless cells. i bet it feels so good when the light of the sun both warms you and fuels you at the same time. a bone-deep satisfaction mixed with a heated sugar-rush and endless brightness. not that i would fucking know
at work on period is the worst. tbh.
no i don't. cheers
they should give you the option to unblock in these circumstances. just to see the drama unfold
The thing about anti-libby posts, because ebooks have to be paid for yearly while physical books only have to be paid for once, is that yes, physical books are cheaper for the library to acquire- but the library has a budget they chose to allocate, whether it's on software, subscriptions to digital encyclopedias, or ebook rentals. If they chose to rent ebooks, it was because they want you to read them, and using any of their services looks good for them. Check out physical books by all means, but don't feel guilty about checking out ebooks.
Fun Fact : If you cut off your left arm. . . Your right arm will be left.
see, that use to be a life-threatening injury in the past, but thanks to advances in modern medicine, you’ll actually end up being all right
rpg idea: Grim dark fantasy setting suddenly invaded by a cozy goddess of wholesomeness, slowly warping reality into an apolitical cottagecore wasteland where nobody is allowed to talk about race or oppression.
Point buy, but there's a collective pool of points and you have to play Hungry Hungry Hippos to see how many of them you get
Do you consider yourself a people person*?
yes
no
nuance
* people person: A people person is an informal term for someone who is friendly, outgoing, and skilled at interacting with others. Key traits include active listening, empathy, and a natural ease in social settings.
always a dread omen seeing the comments on a post saying "I love when the alt text is part of the joke!" bc nine times out of ten the alt text is not part of the joke, nor does it accurately translate a visual joke into language while maintaining the humor, but instead it is tangential to or a digression from the image being described and is only funny if you can both see the image and read the alt text, and therefore is actually a joke at the expense of everyone relying on alt text because they can't see the image.
