Why was achilles buried at troy and not in greece? I know he died there, but why didn't they pack his body and put it in greece?
The aspect being to make the burial as soon as possible so that his soul would be put to rest. So he was buried immediately. It was also interesting how Patroclus was given a small funeral before Achilles and the urn was unearthed and added the bones of Achilles inside.
Symbolically it signifies at least in my opinion Achilles's conquest of Troy. His tomb would forever stand there as proof of his win and the dominion of Greece over the Trojan plain. What is more the area of Hellespont is a passage between east and west so Achilles's tomb would be visible from anyone who would want to pass from Greece to Anatolia and from Anatolia to Greece and be admired for his courage for both sides and perhaps feared. Hellespont was more of a passage than Phthia for instance.
I think this latter is the reason why we do not have many myths of the bones being exhumed from the ground and taken back to Greece.
His fall also marks the heroic worship and daresay the immortalization of Achilles that happened because of this war so the memorial of his to the place he died signifies also the true grandiose of the hero; the spot where he gained immortality through memory in the Trojan plain. Last but not least seems to fulfill the prophecy that Achilles wouldn't return to Phthia again not even as his ashes. (The same fate seems to befall to Patroclus who was buried in the same urn and to Antilochus who seems to be buried in the same tomb but on different urn)

Ok so a woman created a seasoning line called spyce girlz and got threatened a lawsuit by the spice girls.
But that's not what I'm shocked by. It's this:
