It’s almost election day in the US, and I have something to say.
If someone chooses not to vote in a certain election because they feel both candidates would work against their interests, don’t shame them.
Voting is important, but your vote should be earned, not wrestled from you as the less worse of two evils. We shouldn’t be made to feel complicit in our own oppression.
This isn’t an easy issue, it’s not black and white, and sometimes it’s still worth it to vote for someone you don’t like over someone you hate. But not always.
I see this a lot with Democrats. They think they can do whatever they want, and as long as they’re not quite as bad as the Republican, they think we’ll still vote for them because we have to. But that’s abuse and manipulation, and I won’t stand for it.
If you haven’t earned my vote…you’re not getting my vote.
