Well, there is a logical reasoning to this, actually. (Explaining the joke for the promotion of the game under the cut- and a shout out to those who get it:)
The person who made this is probably (DEFINITELY) a fan of the video game series MOTHER- there are these creatures called Flying Men that exist in the main character of Mother and Mother 2 (SNES’ Earthbound in the English-speaking world, folks!) and the words to the Flying Man song from the game include that “Life is but a moment, a single grain of sand” line:
and this .gif is a really funny and unexpected portrayal (and yet... fitting...) of said Flying Men (so nice joke, revengeance! Where DID you find this?)
In the Mother series, dogs are really prominent- all of the main characters have a dog, and Lucas (Mother 3′s) dog Boney is one of your permanent party members! So if the image of the dog you liked was tagged with any of the Mother games, or resembled a real-life version of the types of dogs Mickey, King, and Boney (or the poster of the dog image is really into Mother for the rest of their blog), then this is actually a surprisingly relevant thing to get!
Lon’qu overhears Lucina’s support conversation with her female sibling- specifically Cynthia- about the bug that escaped into their room ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDjKn-IcwAI ) and stunt-rolls into the tent from the side, forgoing the opening, uprooting the tent pegs, and collapsing the poles. He shoves both ladies away, temporarily forgetting his fear of females.
He gently coos and scoops the insect into his hands. “It is alright. You are safe now, you wondrous little one. I shall call you Ke’ri,” he says to it.
Lucina and her sister stare in awe, simultaneously agreeing that he is the greatest hero and most fearless warrior who has ever lived.
They also agree that he is gross and weird because he likes bugs.
Owain as a little squirt watches his daddy Lon’qu tremble like a leaf as he tries to Play It Cool and hold Lissa’s hand.
“Why does your sword hand twitch?” asks tiny Owain.
Lon’qu, shamed for displaying weakness in front of his son, solemnly and sincerely says, “It’s in memory of the blood spilled before I was strong enough to express my own desire to fight.”
Years later, Lon’qu asks his boy, “Why do you wish to choose this path of the warrior- not the healer, mage, or tactician?”
Owain thinks of the growing number of Risen and the Ylissean lives they have taken while Owain hid in his mother’s arms. “...My sword hand twitches,” he says to his father.
And his father just closes his eyes quietly.
...Additionally, that is the only unironic usage of the phrase by Owain. The “My sword hand twitches!” battlecry was also Owain’s universal manipulation tool that his father just has to deal with every day.
“It is past your bedtime, Owain. Where were you? ”
“Uh, my sword hand twitches!”
“...I see. How difficult such pain is. I will press you about that no further, then. But why did you not do the dishes like your mother asked before leaving?”
“My sword hand... twitches?”
“...I am sorry that my son is bothered so.”
“My sword hand twitches!”
“I understand, Owain. As your father, I shall let you be on your own until you feel fit to open up about your worries.”
“My sword hand twitches!!!”
“...Sumia brought a pie by. I do not care for sweets, so would you like me to leave you out both my and your share once I finish with these dishes?”
“Can’t... control--!!!”
“...Of course. I shall fill you a glass of milk, too, Owain.”
