I think the most hilarious place to put Post-Canon Sokka would have been the university at Ba Sing Se. I think he would have made a great unhinged professor. Also, in true Sokka fashion, he should have completely dodged fame. Momo is more famous than he is.
He wants to demonstrate to the class how this thing called electricity works, so he's going to be bringing in a Firebender, so everybody be cool, we're all friends here... and in walks Princess Azula of the Fire Nation. One-time conqueror of the city. One of the students is currently writing an essay on how her brief rule of the city affected fruit trade. She says she considers the class to still be her subjects as she doesn't acknowledge any pretenders to any of her thrones, but for now you're exempted from bowing and "Your Highness" will do. It's a really interesting lecture.
"Okay, guys - hey, listen up, everyone - I won't be here next week, me and Aang are going to-" yeah right, sure, Professor Sokka knows the Avatar. Except, of course, the Avatar walks in sheepishly and says that Appa might have gotten into Sokka's hybrid crops, and then you all have to sit there and watch your professor chase the Avatar around with a sword.
One postgrad student is specializing in Water Tribe Cultures. She's currently studying the massive cultural shift that happened in the Northern Water Tribe at the end of the war - oh, and Professor, I absolutely know that you're from the Southern Water Tribe, but it's just that the shift started with Master Katara, and of course I don't think that every person from the South knows one another haha it's just that I need to ask her some questions and I thought maybe you could help me write a letter or write a letter of introduction or...
Sokka looks at her blankly and goes "yeah, she's my sister. KATARA!" which is followed by a faint answering "fuck you!" from Somewhere and to the horror/elation of our postgrad, Master Katara bursts in and is promptly beaned in the head with a rock by Professor Sokka. Her brother. her hero and her professor are siblings and currently brawling on the floor.
Hear me out, oblivious merman with a reader who can't swim. He's been eyeing you for a long time now, so when the chance arises, he nonchalantly steals you away from the other humans.
He's convinced everyone just floats naturally. Has no idea why you're trashing around and screaming for help - he's courting you! He'd never harm you, so why are you so afraid of...Oh...you're sinking. Is this some sort of teasing? Are you playing hard to get?
(He does eventually retrieve you once you go limp under the water, utterly mortified that he almost drowned his beloved)

Dc x Dp prompt #1
Danny open a YouTube channel teaching how to cook.
Bonus point : During the live, the food came to life. And he had to fight the food while chats were watching him.
It becomes a running gag so much so that the chat calls it food fight like a title
Whenever he wins the chat cheers and goes off, marking the score like Danny 281 - Food 0
Until the day that Danny is bested by the hot dogs ganging up on him. It’s a surprise attack that the chat calls cheating, but the hot dogs swarm Danny and then look menacingly to the camera.
After that there’s no more videos and the Score remains:
Food- 1
Danny- 281
Danny: listen. listen. l i s t e n. its not my fault. i can cook. chat i can cook. its just the portal to hell in my basement refuses to let anything stay dead in this godforsaken house
Chat: but you were making a vegan dish
Danny: what, you think plants aren't alive?? you think the violets don't hear you talkin' shit??? you think that tree outside your window doesn't grow and change and love and have feelings?????
Danny, slowly growing more visibly unhinged with every video: well NEWSFLASH, *squints* caffeine_bird89, i've met plant god and let me tell you; they do, and they're ASSHOLES.
Danny, stabbing a screaming grape: so CHECKMATE, vegans!
the streamer begins to cackle maniacally, in a way somehow freakier than even the Joker. the stream glitches and the audio distorts, but then a combat boot comes flying from out of frame and whacks Danny directly on the head, knocking him out instantly.
seconds later, without any explanation, the stream ends
Tim Drake, miles away: what the fu-
It would totally start as a "get different hobbies for Danny" thing? But when they realize it's slowly driving him insane? They would want him to stop. But of course, Danny is STUBBORN.
No. NO! He CAN find a recipe that will work! He CAN, he tells you!!
And now Jazz is worried because that's sounding awfully like their parents during their Bad Times(tm). But Danny's room is now COATED in research notes that look like the scrawlings of a man desending into madness and old cookbooks. He's skipping sleep. Interviewing Lunch Lady.
And?? It's not until several intervention that go no where, a tearful screaming match with his sister, and being JUMPED by weenies that he realizes? Yeah... this is his rock bottom. He needs to stop.
He was trying to cook with WEENIES for Zone sake. WEENIES! He KNOWS better! He needs to cut this habit cold turkey (Oooh~! He bet he COULD roast a-! NO! Fenton, you KNOW better! Remember literally EVERY THANKSGIVING OF YOUR LIFE, MAN!). It's starting to turn into an Obsession.
Worse, an Unfulfillable one.
His friends and family are RIGHT to be worried.
But! Since he doesn't update? And no one but them KNOWS about Ghost Obsessions or that he IS a half ghost? The world has watched a nerdy, funny, twink of a dude in a nasa apron slowly be driven to madness by some off screen portal to hell.
Fight day in and day out, just to eat. Live in a house of Existential Horrors and... eventually lose.
Ha ha... i-its a super cool art project... RIGHT? Viral marketing for some sort of upcoming art house movie? R...Right? They didn't watch one of their favorite youtubers... fucking DIE... did they?
But like?? Superman's an alien. There are Cryptids and magical demons KNOWN to be his co-wokers. In history class, you study how X and Y country got over run by zombies for a bit and how that effected the royal succession. There's a country of Ocean People out... just? Chillin. In the Ocean.
Why WOULDN'T this be real? COULDN'T this be? Oh God. Is Spooky Space Eats... DEAD???
Tim would VERY much like to know! He's a HERO god damn it! Blames himself! He should have looked INTO this! Everything escalated so FAST. But it was building for a WHILE. He should have TOLD somebody! Shown the JLA Dark! Now Danny's DEAD! And somewhere? There's a portal too HELL, driving people insane and animating food!
Consider, the end happens right after the Portal Incident, so Tim gets to Amnity and now this streamer is an Actual Ghost, and is defending his town as best he can but he was just a guy
The sanity slippage was so gradual that people don't notice until they start rewatching and see the stark difference between the Danny from the last episode to the Danny from the first episode.
The juxtaposition with his goofy, relaxed self that laughed off or rolled his eyes at the food monsters in the early videos lets them see how desperate, worn down, and distraught he was at the end.
Due to proximity to the Ghost Zone, posts from Amity tend to show up to the rest of the world at random times not relevant to when they are posted (honestly, it's lucky that they don't get temporal wonkyness causing bigger problems).
Due to this, Danny's cooking show is the first ghost-related content to come out of Amity.
Some time after the end of Danny's cooking show, they start to see videos of a ghost that looks like him defending a town. The first one that pops up is a video someone captured of the first fight against the Lunch Lady that someone caught but didn't post until after ghosts became a known phenomenon in Amity Park (didn't want to look crazy). Oh God, he's still fighting food, even in the afterlife.
More and more videos appearof him fighting to protect his town. It looks like whatever was going on in his house is spreading. Every vaguely supernatural-looking threat that appears elsewhere has people watching a single sausage cook with bated breath and a meat tenderizer in hand to see if they're still safe. The highly processed meats always turned the fastest.
No one can track down where the videos came from. The tech people are stymied by the time/ectoplasm clusterfuck. The magic people don't know enough about tech.
Danny now has the safest secret identity on the planet because no one believes that he has one. Everyone who knows of him thinks his death was streamed live and now he's just a ghost desperately trying to protect others from what killed him.
His original audience are traumatized. They followed his cooking/combat adventures and listened to his dumb jokes. They learned little tidbits about his life in between the recipes and fighting. They kept score of the fights like it was some kind of joke from Danny-1 Food-0 to Danny-281 Food-0 because he always won, until he didn't. Now the score was frozen at Danny-281 Food-1 because he only had to lose the fight for his life once.
They cope in strange ways.
Some of them have videos showing how to install a lock on a refrigerator door. Others don't ever cook alone but will always help their loved ones in the kitchen (any old enough to run their own households institute a rule that nobody cooks alone). Some live off of take out and fast food (which seemed to be the least violent for some reason).
Other people don't get it. It's one of those if you know you know things.
Tim was one of the followers in the original stream. The first time he tuned in he was genuinely trying to learn how to cook and followed along with the steps until the food on screen attacked. Tim's honey-baked ham still turned out well, and he assumed the fight scenes were just a joke to add a little entertainment alongside real recipes.
Tim had fun watching the streams and gifted subscriptions to all his friends. Then, as time went on, Danny's mental state deteriorated until the final episode saw him lose the fight. It all ended with a message claiming to be from the streamer's sister and simply stating that he would not be continuing the series.
Then the videos of the ghost that looked like the streamer started appearing. Eventually one featured a slightly younger, female ghost that strongly resembled him (Oh god, the sister). Tim was shocked, horrified, and guilt-ridden for not realizing that the problem was real in time to save him and still not being able to track down the problem, but it was far from the only trauma in his life or even the worst so he just added a couple of probably-not-healthy coping mechanisms to the pile and kept going.
At some point, Jason starts noticing weird things about Tim. He always seems tense during mealtimes. He lives off of fast food when left to his own devices even though he he can actually cook, and well enough for Alfred to let him help in the kitchen.
That's another thing, Tim generally won't willingly cook, but he will always, unfailingly offer to help Alfred in the kitchen. In fact, he will insist on helping out, even though he watches food at every stage of preparation the way that kids from certain kinds of households watch bottles and cans. He startles like a cat with a cucumber if anyone sets a plate of food near him without telling him, as if food itself presents some kind of threat in his mind.
Jason wishes someone else would notice this because it's worrying as fuck, and he doesn't know if he's the right person to handle this, given his and Tim's history, even if they're on better terms now.
Tim doesn’t trust food. He hasn’t for awhile now. Hasn’t since he watched a lively, happy, pun loving boy,andohgodhewassoyoungandtimdidn’tdoanythingandwhatkindofvigilanteisheifhecan’teven-, fight everyday just so he could eat. Happily watched the boy, justaboyjustaboyjusta-, lose himself in the fight and Tim can’t believe he just used it as entertainment simply because he didn’t think it actually posed a threat. Which was stupid on his part considering everything else he has faced in his life. He simply stood by and even enjoyed the streams, and oh god be he thinks he’s gonna be sick.
So no, Tim doesn’t trust food. But it’s okay, he can deal with it. He will simply have to rely on fast food and instant ramen and avoid cooking as long as he can. He has already drafted several different contingencies in case he does end up having to cook. Looking back meat and processed foods alway came back the most violent so he has been looking for alternatives. He installed several kinds of surveillance systems (designed to alert him in case of reanimated food) in the kitchens of various headquarters, safe houses, apartments or anywhere else his loved ones resided (regardless of if he was supposed to know of their existence or not) as well as mounting protective measures and counter attacks if Tim didn’t get their in time.
He always keeps an eye on any food near him. Refuses to let anyone cook in the kitchen alone, Danny was alone when he died and maybe if he had someone there with him (maybe if Tim had been there) he’d still be here. So regardless of what it is, Tim never lets his family be alone in a room with food. Especially if they’re the ones cooking. And yeah, Damian may have given him a weird look when he came running from across the manor to join him in the kitchen. And yeah, maybe he came close to having a panic attack when Bruce tried to cook alone (Tim installed three more safety features that night). And yeah, maybe it got so bad at one point that Jason, Jason of all people, created a group chat so that his family can let him know when someone is about to start cooking. But he has it under control now and none of them have brought it up yet so it should be fine.
Tim still doesn’t trust food.
This is so good!
..
The Bats can tell something is up with Tim. They all know what trauma and unhealthy coping mechanisms look like. No one in this line of work remains unscathed. They've all developed quirks.
This is still cause for concern. Tim is running himself ragged trying to maintain decent health around whatever the fuck this is. Trauma this intense linked to basic necessities of life is worrying. All the more so because they have no idea where its coming from.
Usually they can deduce where some new sensitivity came from. There will be some unpleasantness on a recent mission that leaves them off kilter for a while, or some other context that makes it make sense. The idea that something could mess one of them up this badly without any of the others knowing about it is, frankly, terrifying.
Tim is getting thinner and more desperate as time moves on and they can't figure out what's wrong.
They don't find a lead on this mystery until one of the rogues decides to experiment with truth serum, and Tim gets dosed. They manage to get him out of the public eye before it really starts kicking in, but once it does Tim is high as a kite and voicing every thought that crosses his mind in a tangled, stream-of-consciousness mess.
After the mission, while Tim is babbling away in the car, someone mentions a celebratory after-mission meal. Tim (who had previously been sprawled out in a heavily reclined seat, mumbling incoherently) bolts upright and insists that nobody cooks alone because its dangerous and "he" might still be alive if he'd had someone with him.
Before anyone can think better of it, someone on coms gently asks who he's talking about.
The story spills out disjointedly, peppered with self-recriminations and tangents.
There's a case Tim has been privately working on but can't seem to crack. Something he blames himself for. Two dead kids and a portal to hell. The effects seem to be spreading, and he still can't track down the location. They coax him into sharing the case file (they normally wouldn't take advantage of a teammate's intoxicated state like this, but this is an extreme case).
Babs can't seem to track the videos to their source either (which is all kinds of worrying), but she might know someone who can. She's seen similar interference before and worked with another hacker who was a natural at getting around it. They might be able to help, and PharoahTooFine still owes her for helping them take down a genocidal organization that had taken root in their hometown.
The bats begin making preparations with grim determination.
Just hold on a little longer, SpookySpaceEats. Help is on the way.
Imagine tim discovering dick left leftovers in his fridge too long, and sprints to his place, Jason following because he has been watching him, dick unfortunately is attacked just as they get to his place and tim us screaming a war cry as he attacks the leftovers from hell, dick and Tim start stomping on it after they get it off dick, Jason comes in with his guns drawn, it attacks Jason, who screams like a little girl, cause who expects leftovers to launch themselves at your face like a face hugger. So here they are playing hot potatoe with living nightmare leftovers, getting grease or sauces or mold all over the place( perhaps the leftovers merged with all the food in dick's place? Food Zilla) then Damian comes in with a chair, all four finally kill the leftovers from hell, take stock of dick's now gross kitchen and Tim feels vindicated
All right so we’ve reached this point, but someone please write the Batfam actually meeting Team Phantom.
Since this is the point where the GIW have been driven out of town, Danny is probably 17 by now. So like, everything is already over and done with. The ghosts don’t invade nearly as much and are barely even a distraction by now, the World Ending Threats have come and gone, and Danny is finally getting his life together.
(I want to assume Good Fenton parents but I’ll let the phandom pick how the meeting goes.)
So, only after everything is over do the heroes show up. Is Danny mad? Probably… Definitely. He’s so salty at the League for never answering any of their calls, and Batman wants context on that, please. But he’s probably gonna give RR all the hugs when he hears this guy’s theory. Like, “sorry you had to witness that, I was not at a good point in my life.” And Tim just cries harder.
And what about Sam and Tucker? Tucker is definitely thrilled to finally meet his hacker buddy, and Sam can gossip with Hood cuz we know how much our man loves drama. Dani shows up and more Lore is uncovered (and oh no this is SO MUCH WORSE!!) And then they meet Jazz.
Someone please write this happening. I need to see it.
This isn't exactly what you asked for, but there's a couple of ideas I've had bouncing around in my head for a while now.
One is a scene where Danny hugs Tim and comforts him. Danny tells Tim that he didn't fail him, that Danny's doing alright and that Tim was just a kid when this happened. At some point, Danny turns human and lets Tim listen to his heartbeat for a bit, just to reassure him that he's okay.
The other is a scene where Danny makes one final episode in the kitchen at Titans Tower to give everyone closure, let his viewers know that he's alright, and clarify that he stopped making the show to focus on his mental health. With the kitchen in Titans Tower is far away from Fenton Works, so Danny is able to make a proper dish that doesn't animate. This gives Danny a measure of closure and let's him feel settled.
The final score
Danny- 281 Food- 1
Successful Meals - 1/282 🎉
I cannot describe how happy this response made me.
Jason using his guns as blunt weapons is so funny like imagine ur getting shot at by the Red Hood, he runs out of ammo, you think you have a chance and he just throws the fucking pistol at you
The best part of Jason's fighting style at all ages is that it's just so fucking practical?? Like, look at the rest of the non-powered batboys:
Bruce "I've Been Lurking Here Dramatically for God Knows How Long" Wayne
Dick "Just Gonna Do Some Flips For Fun Before I Kick Your Ass" Grayson
Tim "Good Luck, I've Been Obsessing Over This Fight for Weeks in Preparation" Drake
Damian "Nonlethal Katana Tricks Because I Inherited Extra from Both Parents" Wayne
Then Jason comes in like:
As Robin: I'm just gonna kick 'em in the nuts.
As Red Hood: I'm just gonna shoot 'em, and when I run out of bullets, I'll hit them with the gun.
This is how you take over Crime Alley in under a year, kids.
buzzfeed unsolved: The disappearance of Jason Todd
Ryan
Shane
—
This week on Buzzfeed Unsolved we will be discussing the disappearance of Jason Todd-Wayne, which has had updates as recently as last week.
Wait last week? Ryan, if we disappear because of this episode imagine how cool it would be. Maybe we hang with our good pal Jason.
I don’t have time for you being stupid. I have to get this right, because let me be honest. I have a man crush on Bruce Wayne, and if he ends up watching this and you’re being stupid I’ll never forgive you.
Okay, sure. Cause Bruce Wayne is searching the internet for every little thing posted about his dead son.
(wheeze)
We don’t know if he’s dead! And that’s what I’m here to talk about today.
-
Jason Peter Todd was born August 16th, 2000 in Gotham City, New Jersey, to his mother Dr. Sheila Haywood and his father Willis Todd. However only a few months later did Willis Todd marry Catherine Johnson, forcing Dr. Haywood to have to relinquish custody.
If I ever have a kid-
-they would all have your big head and I’d feel sorry for them.
Ryan. I listen to you ramble about murderers and ghosts. Let me tell my spiel.
(wheeze)
Right, sorry.
If I ever have a kid with someone, I think I’d be really upset if they just kinda made me give my kid to a stranger.
Here’s the thing to that! No one has heard or seen from Dr. Sheila Haywood since, like after her son was born. The only thing that might link back to her is an illegal botched surgery, but most of it was sealed off, and I don’t feel like having the Gotham City Police Department call me up
(ring ring)
Hi yes, are you that idiot from that show? You will be arrested immediately! Batman and his group of… misfits?? I don’t know, but they are on their way!
Moving on from your weird role play, like all the families that live in Park Row, what is deemed “Crime Alley”, the Todd family did not have money.
You could not pay me to go to a place called Crime Alley.
We were actually going to Gotham, scope around, maybe get a selfie with Robin-
-Which one?
I need to do an episode trying to figure out how many Robin’s there actually are… I think there have been five?? Six?? I don’t know… stop distracting me with Batman! We ended up scraping the visitation part because apparently this time of year Arkham breakouts are common, and I don’t want to get fear gassed.
-
Jason did decent at school, until he stopped showing up, school records are really spotty after third grade. Apparently he was reading and understanding college level stuff, but that’s really all we got on it.
Not a lot on this guys younger life it looks like.
No there isn’t, not any social media posts, or news articles, or anything if that sort about Jason until a few years later in 2012, when Jason became the ward to the one and only, Bruce Wayne.
Ah, Bruce Wayne, you love him, I love him, uhm- I actually don’t know much about Bruce Wayne other than the fact he’s one of the few rich people who give away a shit ton of money.
Bruce Wayne is a billionaire CEO, with a heart of gold, and some say he sleeps around, but as long as he’s not hurting anyone. Also! He’s a dad! Bruce Wayne is a trusted person within the Foster Care over in Gotham. He takes in the extreme cases that would probably leave the kid with a bunch of trauma.
Well, with what I’ve heard about Gotham, he must have like a billion kids with just a bunch of trauma
Let’s see what I remember from research, cause I did not write anything down for this. His first ward was Richard Grayson, who goes by Dick, was taken in after he watched his whole family fall and die on the trapeze.
As I said before, Jason was brought into Mr. Wayne’s custody after the death of both his father and his step mother. His father’s death was unknown, and his step mother died from a drug overdose… in front of Jason.
Uhm- Tim Drake? His was more interesting to watch unfold because there’s a whole other multimillion almost billion dollar company that Tim’s parents owned, and there was a lot covered up by lawyers and stuff, but Tim ended up with the Waynes
Then there’s the only female in the place, Cassandra Wayne, she is selectively mute, and overly protected by her adoptive family, nothing was shared with the media about where she came from.
Damian Wayne is the only blood son to Bruce Wayne, he didn’t even know about the kid until… like last year? Two years ago? Again, not a lot that I remember.
And then there’s been rumors of him taking in another kid, but nothing for sure yet.
Jesus, Ryan take a breath, and go back to Jason, because now I’m hoping I believe your theories about him being alive cause what this family didn’t need is another death.
Look, Shane. I’m going to be straight with you here. There are three possible theories I think could be plausible. So let’s jump right into them.
-
Theory one, is that Jason Todd is alive and in hiding from The Joker. This is the second most popular idea, and one I hope is true. There really isn’t anything else to this theory, besides a picture of someone that looks a little like Jason in the middle of Asia.
Doppelgänger, probably. Lemme see. I don’t know… this kinda looks like someone edited it.
Yeah, like it looks really distorted. I don’t know if I think it’s real, but it’s what people online were talking about.
Crazy, that people online would doctor fake photos of a kid who had died.
Exactly, which is why people think he’s alive, cause who would do that?
—
Theory two is that Jason Todd died as his family said he did, looking for his birth mother. Apparently he was in the Middle East, found his mother, but then both were found dead in an explosion caused by the Joker.
So the Joker, who is Gotham’s Prince of Crime, was somehow in the Middle East? I don’t buy it
I didn’t either, until I looked just a little deeper, and found that the next week Superman and Batman stopped the Joker from murdering the United Nations. So he was in the area.
Oh my god. If.. I know on this show I try to goof off, but it’s hard when it’s a kid. How old was Jason?
Only 15. He just got back into the swing of things at school, getting all A’s, he was in the Drama program and the Poetry club. If you scroll down a on Dick Grayson’s Instagram you can find a selfie of Dick and Jason, Jason being in his school uniform only a week before he died. The two seemed to be really close, with how much Grayson posted of the two of them, and then it was radio silence from the man until a year after Jason’s death, where he made a memorial post, along with Bruce Wayne, who made the Jason Peter Todd Memorial Foundation, which helps families in Crime Alley.
Look, not okay with the kid dying, but it makes me kinda smile to see that his family got together to do something like this in his name.
I don’t think you understand the length of what this fund does. It provides special housing for single mothers, has opened up two clinics that help with drug abuse and addiction, and keeps kids in warm clothes and in school.
That’s- wow. Okay, you are making this “he’s dead” thing seem like it’s the only thing that happened.
Well, theory 3, is that he died-
Wait what?
He died, and came back to life.
This, I think, is worse than you saying ghosts are real.
We live in a world where someone can run at the speed of light! Yet you draw the line at ghosts and maybe hopefully someone who isn’t dead.
Yeah, but that’s science. Okay whatever where’s the proof of him being alive.
Okay, looking at the timeline. Jason Todd died at 15, in 2015. And the Wayne’s kinda were quiet for a year and a half, besides the foundation they set up, even with Tim, nothing really new was happening.
And then things seemed to go back to normal, they all frequented gala’s again, and all the other social stuff they did-
Yeah, nice choice of wording there
Shut up, anyways, in 2018 a picture appears, not even the front page, of Dick Grayson walking and laughing with someone who looks a lot like if Jason Todd grew up for a few years, and then decided to dye his hair.
Listen, Ryan. People have doppelgängers. We just saw the other picture and it’s clearly fake- Jesus Christ that looks exactly like Jason.
Exactly! And I started looking around more, finding pictures of the Wayne family around Gotham from news sites, and every once in a while, that guy pops up. Never in the picture, but always somewhere in the background like he wasn’t wanting to be seen. Like i mentioned in the beginning, there was a picture from a week ago that looks exactly like him.
Wait, is this a theory from the internet or something you came up with?
Both, kind of? I saw someone make a bad joke about it, and then it kinda stuck in my head as I looked for more information. Apparently there is a mythical pit that could bring someone from the dead.
Okay, yeah. Mythical revival pit. As if any living person wouldn’t be all over that.
Look man, that’s just the information I found. But I really really hope that Jason is alive somewhere safe, or resting peacefully.
The most believable for me is that he did pass away. But I’d love to be wrong.
That being said, I got really sad looking through all of Jason’s life, I felt like I was being more invasive than usual. So I talked with the crew and Buzzfeed, and we are donating all revenue from this video to the Jason Memorial fund in Gotham.
But the mystery of Jason Todd, still remains….
Unsolved
Videogames I wish were real #97
A roguelike game that takes place in the world's biggest library, which has been overrun by monsters, where you play as a librarian determined to save it. You venture inside the library armed with your weapon of choice and two messenger bags you plan to fill with whatever books you can rescue.
After you clear the monsters in a particular section of the library, such as the Poetry section, you'll unlock a permanent buff that will last for the remaining of that run. For example: clearing the Travel section will help you map areas faster, and also unlock the bookworm railway system that will allow you to move more easily between certain parts of the library.
Besides section buffs, you'll also be able to learn all kinds of useful attacks and skills by finding specific books in the shelves, reading them and carrying them in your messenger bags. The more books you carry, the stronger your character will be, and the abilities each book will grant you will be on theme with the book, it's literary genre or one of its tropes: carrying with you a bestiary will allow you to quickly identify the weak points of monsters you've met before, a book with an enemies to lovers trope will allow you to turn a monster into a temporary ally that will fight alongside you, a botany book in your bag will let you gather medicinal herbs growing in the library, and carrying a potions book will allow you to prepare healing potions (more effective than just herbs), etc.
Not everyone believes the library can be saved, which is why during your expeditions your mission is not only to kill monsters, but also to rescue books and bring them to the new library. Since getting books out is one of your main priorities, starting your runs with your satchels nearly full of books that grant you useful abilities won't be very efficient, so you'll need to decide how many books you want to bring back with you to the library during each run.
Fighting monsters is dangerous, and sometimes you get hurt, but also, sometimes books get hurt, which why after some runs you might need to stop by your workshop to repair any damaged books. The hides of certain monsters are very sturdy, so using them to rebind books will make them more durable.
There is no respawning in this game. If your librarian dies inside the library, the next librarian that ventures inside might eventually find their body. If you're close to death and you have a particular book from the Travel section in your bags, you'll be able to use it to summon a bookwork that will take you quickly and safely back to the entrance with whatever books are currently in your bag.
You love your library, and you are determined to save it, armed with the greatest weapon in the world: knowledge (and a sword), even if it's one book at a time.
so i can't code, but i feel i could make this a solo journalling game, ttrpg like. maybe..
i'd use the carta SRD, and each suit in the deck of cards that forms the playing field could be a genre, black cards nonfiction and red cards fiction perhaps, and limited resources, and you can easily fail but then restart

Listen.
EVERYBODY knows (or should) that you DO. NOT. STOP. in Vidor, Texas.
It’s best to just run out of gas elsewhere. Whatever you do, black folks, DO NOT STOP IN VIDOR, TEXAS.
There’s a good chance you’ll get lynched or just come up missing - and I’m not joking.
also do NOT stop in Harrison, Arkansas!!!! (relatively close to OK and MI) a nazi town with a BIG KKK organization.

REBLOG REBLOG REBLOG THIS IS HORRIFYING
thinking about the video where a bunch of guys get together to un-corrupt a blastoise that got bad egged years ago in a leafgreen game and how that whole scenario is like. the loving side of cosmic horror. you are a blastoise. you trust your trainer. you've been through countless battles together, and while they never say anything, you can tell your trainer loves you. what you don't know is that your trainer is, at all times, being puppeted by intelligent forces outside of your dimension, holding knowledge far beyond the scope of anything you could ever know. they know things about your world that you do not; that nobody in your world ever could. the distinction between your trainer and this creature is minimal. at the same time, this creature is not god. it does not have infinite knowledge; it understands far greater than you, yet in still a very limited capacity. they understand what your world is made up of and how it can be manipulated to fit your whims. this creature loves you. your trainer loves you. they love you so much that they want to help you become stronger. they manipulate the very laws of your world to attain this feat. however, they did it wrong. they didn't know what they were doing, and the makeup of your being- everything you ARE- was twisted. you are no longer a blastoise. you are a bad egg. your trainer remains the same as ever. everything continues on, the same as it ever was, yet you cannot be what you once were. your trainer tries over, and over, and OVER again to hatch you, but you never become what you once were. you are a bad egg. there are other bad eggs now, other pokemon you used to know; pokemon you helped your trainer catch, pokemon you may have even fought alongside. now you're all bad eggs, sealed away by ancient protective magic known as Code. you never knew such a thing existed. you wonder if you're dangerous now. your trainer sets you in a box. over the years, he forgets which box you're in. unbeknownst to you, the creature is panicking, trying everything it can possibly think of to restore you to your blastoise state. the creature is just a child. he carries the pain of your loss long into adulthood; in his mind, he is responsible for your death. in the grand scheme of the universe, you do not matter; you're a "game". a few lines of code and some pixels. you do not Exist. and yet, you are mourned. and yet many others just like you are mourned by many others just like him. the world has been still for many, many years. you don't know this, because your world does not contain an internal clock. time doesn't really exist for you; it's a concept far outside of your reality. and yet, it is important. your creature contacts another of its kind. it shares the story of its sin, the insignificant act of corrupting you beyond repair. it shares this story in hopes that it could save you. the other creature recalls its own destruction of a world not unlike yours. it agrees to help. many creatures within the world outside of yours have gathered all together, using technologies familiar and unfamiliar with one collective goal in mind: to rescue you. specifically you. your loss is widely considered nothing. and yet, they put in incredible effort. obstacle after obstacle, they perform miracles for your sake. they copy your world; they use strange windows to view it, they layer your world over itself many times over to view it from every angle. they dig deep into the very makeup of your universe just trying to find you. one of them uses a method that only he has access to, in all the world, to find you. and they do. you have lost your name and everything else that makes you you, but there is something that remains in tact, that makes you findable; a piece of "data", an invisible quality to you that you and your trainer would never see, something you could never possibly know about. this is what ultimately makes you you, and not another blastoise. slowly but surely, they begin to put you back together. it's much harder than it needs to be, it is far too much effort for one
creature in one game that will never be touched again, and yet they do it. they race against the clock, stressing endlessly, sweating bullets and crying out in relief when they finally find the exact values, the last pieces of invisible quality that makes it YOU. you are now a blastoise. you are now "legitimate" to the game. you do not know it yet, but your trainer - your creature - is waiting for you, excited to Transfer you into new worlds until you are where he wants you. until you are safe. you also do not know that at this time, two of you exist. there is the You, here, being put together, manipulated through the fabrics of reality to restore your original form. and there is the Original you; the one waiting home, on the cartridge. the Real you. you are a clone, but you are not. you are a new pokemon, but you are the original. you are both corrupted, and legitimate. you are many things. the new you is saved, and this version of your world- this version that has fixed you, and only you- is re-uploaded, overlayed and overwritten to the original. you safely arrive. You are a blastoise. You were a bad egg, for a short time. But now you are a blastoise again. your trainer acts the same as ever, because he cannot display anything that would suggest he notices the difference. you do not know what happened. you have no idea. you have no idea how much you are loved.
Pokemon Heritage Post
Someone: *mentions doctor who*
Me, vibrating with the effort it’s taking to not talk about something no average show watcher would even have heard of: oh yeah cool show
This is so bad in the uk because it can be brought up in casual conversation
Like back at Christmas
Aunt: Oh are you excited for the Christmas special?
Me, literally about to implode: yes.
NO, NO, talk to me about it. I'm new and loving it, recommend me obscure shit, break my brain, confound and befuddle me. Do it. DO IT I DARE YOU
No but like, I love just how tragic Dragon Age elves are. Yeah, yeah, it's a subversion of the usual elven interpretations of the graceful, fae-like species — BUT IT'S ALSO NOT!
They WERE like that thousands of years ago. They had a thriving, beautiful civilization where they were treated fairly, with decent gods, where they could live happily. Right?
Neighbor's tree just fell on my house ffs
Fuck I’m at a fencing tournament and literally a minute after I reblogged this my dad told me that he talked to the point people and I’m probably going to win a medal.
BURN BAGEL BURN
OH WHY NOT?
I need to follow up to say I reblogged this last night, and this morning I got some of the best news of my life, like, a life dream come true news thing.
Bagel what are your powers
FUCK, I though it was just another lucky meme but LISTEN. Since a week ago I was waiting a phone call to confirm me if I got a job or not in my university. I reblogged this yesterday’s night “just for fun and because I don’t want any bagel to be mad with me”, and today’s afternoon, while I was losing my time as always, the professor I was supposed to work with called me and asked me for my personal information to start working with her.
THE BAGEL POWERS ARE WAY TOO MUCH FOR THIS WORLD
I GOT A JOB THE DAY AFTER MY QUEUE POSTED THIS THE FIRST TIME AND I JUST REALIZED IT WHEN I SAW IT AGAIN HOLY GOD
The bagel hasn’t let me down yet!
I got a job offer after reblogging the bagel. Believe in the bagel!
Worth a try lol
i could use some good news or even a good girl
Go lil bagle! Show me your power!
Okii then!
THIS IS THE FIRST THING ON MY BLOG
I GOT ASKED OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER I REBLOGGED IT
