I put these in the tags of another post but I’m thinking about how little discourse there is on Lochlan and the concept of his people pleasing passive role in his family laying ground to fantasies about control and power, and how maybe that is part of the “dark shit” he speaks of. And I want to talk more about it!! Instead of just being a passive baby through and through it is pretty common for someone who lacks power in their real life to fantasize about having it over someone in a sexual context. And who better to project that fantasy onto than the control freak alpha bro that is always trying to make you feel small. Who better to want to watch melt in your hands as you exert complete control over him. I think we tend to stay away from this discourse because it leads to the concept of Lochlan being a pervert or having more agency in the threesome, but maybe that’s ok. Maybe he can be a little bit of a pervert that made a mistake/took things too far and gave into his desires under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Honestly I think that makes him more interesting!

This kind of ties into the deleted quote from the trailer about giving in to base instincts. My thought is that he’s not necessarily talking about just desire for Saxon but desires for power/control - that’s why Saxons rhetoric seems tantalizing to him at first, note: the way he smiles and laughs when Saxon is telling him people want to be used. He seems excited by that notion. But ultimately, Lochlan is a better person than Saxon - he recognizes his desires could be harmful and “doesn’t want to make things worse” for people.
