obsessed with this muppet clip where Gonzo breaks a piece of machinery and then just stares at the camera in an empty room and says ‘GUILT’ in the most harrowing way possible

Every DnD game that starts out with a serious “Lord of the Rings” type of tone turns into a Monty Python sketch and every DnD game that starts out like a Monty Python sketch turns into Lord of the Rings
DnD game with characters named Kua the Brave, Enoch Bluehelm, and Hallow Greaves: Our current mission is to save the kingdom from the Dark Queen Ravenbone but we fucked up a charisma roll and now Kua and Ravenbone are dating and the king of Fendale was turned into a frog
DnD game with characters named Bunny Wabbit, Ford Trukk, and Dildo Baggins: Our current mission is to find a birthday present for a spoiled prince but in the process we found a lich planning to devour the life force of everyone in the land and Dildo gave his life to stop him in a scene so moving it won the Newberry Medal
If you give your players room to do whatever they want, including be silly, they will most often choose to express themselves. And you'd be amazed how much you'll start to care about characters once people have attached little pieces if their soul to them.
If you try to enforce a "serious" tone, it just makes the gags funnier, and your players will treat you with the same casual blasphemy orangutans show to God.
"the same casual blasphemy orangutans show to God" WHAT THE FUCK I'M DECEASED
Trying out a new colour scheme for my Space Wolves. Whilst we wait inside, I thought I would finally fight through the mound of miniatures that need finishing (or in some case starting).
Also have time to play with my light box, probably going to be taking a lot more photos soon.
Size comparison of Y’gathok, the Ceaseless Hunger and Bjorn, our level 20 Goliath Barbarian.
Hey quick question: why the FUCK do you have that
Imagine, from out of nowhere, your dm casually slapping this thing down on the table like any other encounter.
“Yeah, the fight will start in a sec, uh…I’ll give inspiration to whomever helps me get this fucking box out of my car.”
https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/7asxci/oc_ygathok_the_ceaseless_hunger_final_boss_of_our/ This is the reveal of this ridiculousness during their game
Please watch this reveal video it’s kickass
FUCK ME the reveal video
“CHRIS??????”
“Um, I don’t think our plan is gonna work.”
Always reblog Y'gathok
DM:*Pulls out Y’gothok* *Turns on “Open Your Heart” by Crush 40*
Wow that DM really goes above and beyond
Reblogging Ygathok because it’s been one year since we fought him!!!! It just popped up on my timeline today!
Happy one year anniversary, our precious Old God boi!!!
One year ago today, this boy was revealed.
And for you guys, I have great news: I have the stats of Y’gathok complete and a general design for “how to use him” done. However, an adventure guide is incoming to teach you how to integrate him into any of your worlds!
Goddamn. That’s how you DM with style
Are you a triple threat hobbiest?
I enjoy the lore.
I enjoy building and painting.
I enjoy playing the game.
Three sides to the hobby. Three things to be positive about. If I don’t have time for two of those things I still have one thing that keeps me going. If something is getting me down I have other facets to fall back on.
Stay involved, stay positive, keep building a supportive community.
Finally found some shelves!
After having many of my miniatures in cases and boxes hidden away for years, it is nice to finally have some shelves to place them on. It did make me realise a few things though:
1) I have a lot of warhammer!
2) I have slot of unfinished projects that i am determined to finish!
3) I really want to add more Sororitas, Genestealeer Cult and Luna Wolves.
Left Collum: Luna Wolves, Ultramarines, Renegades and Genestealer Cult, Necron, Alpha Legion, Deathwatch, Dark Angels and Blood Angels and Fallen.
Center collum: Slaanesh daemons, imperial guard, inquisition/cutodians/sisters of silence/assassins and Sororitas, Tau, books (old and new ones)
Right Collum: Dark Eldar/ Harlequins and craftworld, Emperors Children/Death Guard/ World Eaters, Space Wolves and Grey Knights, Tyranids, Mechanicus and Orks (Grot rebellion), LOTR and Hobbit, the bottom shelf is left over vehicles and abaddon.
My sigmar still has to wait in a couple of trays until i can fins a place for it!
Codex Tyranids:
A more detailed look. Very late, but more detailed look at the codex.
Part 1: Hive Fleet Adaptations.
Behemoth: re-roll failed charges
Kraken: 3D6 and choose highest to advance and fall back and charge
Leviathan: 6 to ignore wounds when within 6 of a Synapse.
Gorgon: re-roll To Wound of 1 in Fight phase.
Jormungandr: none FLY unit always count as cover until they advance or charge.
Hydra: re-roll To Hit in Fight phase against a unit that you outnumber.
Kronos: re-roll to hit of 1 if they did not move in the shooting phase.
All have their uses. So far in my practise I have used Behemoth and Gorgon, as I run a more combat heavy Tyranid. What I really like is that Kronos and Jormungandr focus on a ranged list, Behemoth and Gorgon are for a combat list and Leviathan and Kraken are for the mixed list.
Part 2: Stratagems
There are a lot of fun ones here, but here are my favourites:
Death Frenzy allows a character to fight when it dies in combat. Swarmlord suicidal running has been a real highlight for this one.
Pathogenic Slime allows a Monster to increase the damage of its shooting attack by 1. Exocrine is damage 3, Tyrannofex has several options or those new Deathspitter with slimmer maggots become 2 damage. So many possibilities.
3CP Adrenaline Surge gives any Tyranid unit the ability to fight twice. This is amazing on any unit, although it costs 3 points, it can be worth it when you have a large blob of genestealers or any monster that is built for combat.
Part 3: Psychic
The three new powers are:
Dominion, choose a unit within 36 inches with instinctive behaviour and auto pass morale for that unit.
Paroxysm, choose an enemy unit within 18 and they must fight last.
Psychic Scream, Smite, which also deletes a psychic power from an enemy psyker.
Psychic spam is not as powerful for the Tyranids as it once was, but there is defiantly no harm in having a fair few Zoanthropes and a Neourthrope around to provide that support.
Part 4: Relics
Some are better than others, but I dont think the relics are as good as some of the other codexes. These are definitely my top 2.
Reaper of Obliterax: Double damage Bonesword/lashwhip on a 6 To Wound.
Hyper-Adaptive Biology: GORGON only, but when it suffers a wound for the first time, it adds 1 to its Toughness.
Part 5: Warlord Trait
I really think they are all very good, each giving the warlord something special to grow stronger, or assassinate the enemy warlord.
Synaptic Lynchpin, classic adds 6 to the Synapse Range
Perfectly Adapted, LEVIATHAN, once per battle round the warlord can re-roll a hit, wound, advance, charge or save.
Monstrous Hunger, BEHEMOTH, To Wound roll of a 6 inflicts 1 more damage in the fight phase.
Heightened Senses, Never suffer penalties To Hit when shooting.
Part 6: Overall feeling of the Tyranids.
Well, I used to think that Hive Tyrants could only take wings, Carnifexes were useless and would never even consider Hormagaunts over Termagaunts.
Now that 8th edition has shown itself to allow players to choose any models they want, I find that the Tyranids have become this new organism.
I want to experiment more with large swarms, a monster list and maybe add more genestealers.
I find that Tyranid have grown faster, hit harder and have a lot simpler rules to follow, such as Synapse and Instinctive Behaviour
Rapid Fire Ramblings:
I have not been sat at my computer for a while to ramble, so I am going to make more of an effort (again) to get stuff scribbled down.
Codex Tyranid:
Wow, oh, wow! I have fallen in love with this codex.
Hive Fleets are diverse and in my case, with a custom fleet, I have been able to play with any of them.
Highlights:
Behemoth is my new best friend. Re-roll charges for a Trygon appearing from the ground alongside 16 Genestealers has proved to be a game changer.
Artillery nids are still fun and powerful, but I feel that true swarm combat list might prove to be just as powerful.
SWARMLORD! why has is become so freaking powerful? 3+ armour, 3++ in combat and able to chuck wounds to the tyrant guard means that I have had it running amuck around my opponents front lines.
Slaanesh Daemon army has begun!
I have had a small amount of daemons far a few years, using them for summoning in the last edition.
Now I have a 1000pts Slaanesh army
Outrider Detachment:
Herald on Exalted Chariot
The Masque
30x Daemonettes
Hellflayer
Hellflayer
10X Seekers
3X Fiends of Slaanesh
They are all mostly WIP, but I think I have fallen in love with the speed and stabbing power of the daemons.
Using a kit bashed Herald on foot to represent the Masque (mostly because Finecast is evil!)
The Fiends are made from the Spirit Hosts, but tweaked them to be appearing from dead eldar guardians. (Which are going to be painted as Ulthwe, my Eldar Craftworld)
Hoping to get more of this painted soon!

Dungeons and Dragons First 5E Dungeonmastering...
I’m pretty sure that is a word. I love RPG games and have been playing D&D 5E for a while now, so wanted to start my own campaign.
I was telling them for weeks that I was not going to make it easy for them in the first session, they should know how to play by now and should be able to handle any situation.
So I unleashed nearly 5,000 goblins at once.
Instead of rolling for normal combat, a group of NPC’s appeared to save the group.
I then started to run a “cinematic combat mode”.
This was a simple case of rolling for initiative and allowing the player to keep using as many actions as they like to perform some more impressive fighting results.
I still held a couple of regular structured combats, but in cinematic mode the few thousand goblins that were charging for them stood no chance.
I am not a stickler for the rules if I am honest. I use them as a guideline to how a mechanic works, then get distracted by writing a story, a cutscene, a single line of dialogue from an NPC has kept me away from getting to know the REAL mechanics of the game.
In short; I had a theory that my group would be able to defeat the army of the goblin city.
And with the help of an NPC party and their Earth Elemental they did!
Armies on Parade Photo Dump!
A lot of great boards out today, sorry for some of the potato quality pics, there was a lot of hustle and bustle at the store and I had to snap some quick pictures between all of the people! *edit: just noticed the pictures can’t zoom in, I have a few pictures of each table so if anyone wants some bigger pics feel free to request anything!
Damn… (^་།^)
CRAFTWORLDS ARE HERE!
Super quick look through the new Craftworld codex.
Battleforged armies have Ob-sec Troop choices.
Beefed up the Wraithguard to Toughness 6!
Craftworld Attributes:
Alaitoc- minus 1 to hit them outside 12 inches (a little bit overused now)
Biel-Tan- Add 1 LD to Aspect Warriors. Re-roll To Hit of 1 with Shuriken Weapons.
Iyanden: Never lose more than 1 model from morale. Damage charts count as double wounds for their characteristics.
Saim-Hann- Re-roll failed Charages. BIKER units do not suffer penalty or moving and shooting heavy weapons.
Ulthwe- 6+ FNP
Quick note on Autarchs:
No longer customisable.
Come with what the models GW sells.
This really sucks for people like me who have custom built an Autarch.
BUT they still allow re-rolls of 1 for friendly craftworld units AND can regain Command Points on a 6.
Stratagems:
2 different ones that allow units to hide in reserve.
2 Guardian buffers.
Fire and Fade- Shoot and run away
Several to boost psykers.
Relics:
Some very impressive combat weapons.
The Spirit Stone of Anathlan has now been made a Biel-Tan exclusive relic.
Ulthwe have been given a hat that adds 1 to a test of Smite.
Iyanden have a one use relic that makes any Wraith Constructs super powered and double their attacks.
Psychic:
Very similar to last edition.
NO MORE Eldritch blast!
Favourites are Doom, Guide, Conceal, Executioner and Protect/Jinx.
Points Values:
Most people are cheaper!
More Dire Avengers!
Bonus thoughts:
FIRE PRISMS MIGHT BE MORE RELIABLE AS THEY HAVE A VERY SIMILAR RULE TO THR LEMAN RUSS AND CAN FIRE TWICE.
Can see a lot more flexibility to each Craftworld.
I have a small force of Ulthwe, but I dont feel like I am being forced to spam Farseer or Guardians, but if I have a few I get a few extra bonuses (Relics and Stratagems)
I am pretty grumpy about the Autarch thing.
Nothing in the book seems overpowered, nothing have been made to look like last edition.
Excited to fight with and against this new version of Eldar.
Mostly want to see my Imperial Guard Fix Bayonets against a Wraithknight.
So 30k is moving off with its own rule set based on 7th Edition 40k. Glad they haven’t tossed out all the current army lists but I do like many of the changes in 8th.
This book apparently combines the current FAQs and adds in some further rules. Pre-orders go up on Friday, I will be going for a digital version so I can get my Heresy on.
-Borris
As much as I’d like to see Heresy updated to the excellent 8th Edition ruleset, I wouldn’t be too jazzed about having to rebuy the Legiones Astartes books for a third time. It’s good at least that my current redbooks will continue to see use.
Here’s hoping that some of the holes in 7th’s play are addressed.
Good.
Can’t wait to see detachments made out of formations make a comeback lol
30k uses a different format for its list selection. You get to chose a Rite of War which adjusts which units are mandatory or which slot they take up
Hahaha dude don’t worry I know I know.
I was more making a joke at how prevalent those kinds of detachments made of formations were in 7th
All gravy, I read detachments and formations and a headache started.
I actually hoped RoW would make their way into 8th. Good way to give sub-factions some flavour and uniqueness
Eh.
I think what they’re doing is pretty good.
Besides reusing that one “reroll hit rolls of outside of 12” “ rule.
Seriously that fucking thing has shown up 4 FUCKING times already!
